Got Integrity? 0

Mar9

Integrity “And for Those Who Still Fear Tomorrow” repress on ToyBox Records from 1992. I’ve never seen one of these in person, but it looks like a really nice package.

The auction says its on ‘colored vinyl’ but doesnt say which color. I’m pretty sure this came on yellow & purple, not sure if there were any others.

This is # 188 of 1000

STRAIGHT OUTTA SAN FRANCISCO 2

Mar9

Oh man! Look at how beat this thing is! Can you even imagine how many house parties this thing saw to be in this bad of shape? Can’t you imagine Kid N’ Play throwing a big pajama-jammie-jam and dropping the needle on track one and setting the whole place ablaze. Kris-Kross, Martin Lawrence and TLC would be there and Tisha Campbell would be standing in the corner looking all fine with her big smile toking a six paper joint. She’s pretty hot ya know? MC Ren could have her on her back with his lyrical genius in two seconds flat:

“Shoot a motherfucker in a minute
I find a good piece a’ pussy, I go up in it
So if you’re at a show in the front row
I’m a call you a bitch or dirty-ass ho
You’ll probably get mad like a bitch is supposed to
But that shows me, slut, you’re composed to”

How did this dude go on to be the least paid member of NWA? His prose is rivaled only by Whitman and Ginsberg.

*Edit*

On a somewhat related note, can one of you shirt printing dudes whip me up a few black shirts with white print with E on the front and his last will and testament on the back? I have a few weddings/confirmations to go to this year. Thanks in advance.

“I may not seem like a guy you would pick to preach a sermon. But I feel it is now time to testify because I do have folks who care about me hearing all kinds of stuff about what’s up.

Yeah, I was a brother on the streets of Compton doing a lot of things most people look down on — but it did pay off. Then we started rapping about real stuff that shook up the LAPD and the FBI. But we got our message across big time, and everyone in America started paying attention to the boys in the ‘hood.’ Soon our anger and hope got everyone riled up. There were great rewards for me personally, like fancy cars, gorgeous women and good living. Like real non-stop excitement. I’m not religious, but wrong or right, that’s me. I’m not saying this because I’m looking for a soft cushion wherever I’m heading, I just feel that I’ve got thousands and thousands of young fans that have to learn about what’s real when it comes to AIDS. Like the others before me, I would like to turn my own problem into something good that will reach out to all my homeboys and their kin. Because I want to save their asses before it’s too late.

I’m not looking to blame anyone except myself. I have learned in the last week that this thing is real, and it doesn’t discriminate. It affects everyone. My girl Tomika and I have been together for four years and we recently got married. She’s good, she’s kind and a wonderful mother. We have a little boy who’s a year old. Before Tomika I had other women. I have seven children by six different mothers. Maybe success was too good to me. I love all my kids and always took care of them. Now I’m in the biggest fight of my life, and it ain’t easy. But I want to say much love to those who have been down to me. And thanks for your support. Just remember: It’s YOUR real time and YOUR real life.”

Ooooffffff, Not a Test Press 2

Mar9

Where do people come up with their info?

Jeesh.

At vinylnoize, we at least ATTEMPT to give out facts before posting some shit on the internet for the world to see.

This seller? Not really good at the fact finding.

What you see here is a Ten Yard Fight EP on Big Wheel Records, blue vinyl. It doesn’t have a sleeve.

That is all. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s just minus a sleeve. Oh sure, someone got cute and wrote Boston XXX on it, but hell, it could have been anyone. Maybe it was Lacroix. Maybe it was AP. Maybe it was the seller. Who knows.

What we do KNOW however, is that it is NOT a test press. I should know. I own a Ten Yard Fight Big Wheel Records EP test press, and it definitely isn’t on blue vinyl with a real label.

* shout outs to Dobek (that FOOL!) for pointing this auction out to me. One love.

Coca-Cola… We Don’t Drink No Booze… NO WAY! 1

Mar9

This is my favorite hardcore record of all time! Its only 2 songs, but it is true perfection in my opinion! This is a bootleg version, but at this point its tough to touch an original for under $100-$150 even in one of the ‘regular’ assorted live photo sleeves and a Hitler sleeve is easily $400+.

This is a bootleg from awhile back, put out by ‘God is the Devil Records’ I believe its from Italy. The majority of them were pressed on this lime green vinyl, but I have heard there are only 600. There is also a small number (I’ve heard 60) that were pressed on green vinyl with an assorted color splatter.

The original Taang! press of this 7″ comes in 7 different sleeves (not counting the different color paper or the back flaps) and were all on black vinyl (1000 copies & 2 test presses). There were only 6 knowns photos taken of Last Rights at the one show that they played. So when they pressed the 7″ they did 6 different sleeves using each live photo on 150 of the covers. For the last 100, Curtis wanted to do something special so he asked Choke to come up with something. Being the ‘button pusher’ that he is, Choke came up with the now infamous ‘Hitler sleeve’ and the majority of those were given away by the lable to other bands as they toured through Boston. I know the Misfits got them because the copy I have originally belonged to Danzig.

Anyway… enough with the history lesson! All the green vinyl copies of the bootleg come in the same live photo sleeve with the ‘Pre-Slapshot’ sticker on them. The splatter vinyl copies came in reprints of the ‘Hitler sleeve’.

DAMAGED GOODS zine #7 (1981) 4

Mar8

Cool early hardcore zine outta NYC, published by Misguided drummer Lyle Hysen. Not sure how many issues he did, the highest copy I’ve seen is #9. DG was also responsible for releasing what many would call the first official “New York Hardcore” record, the Heart Attack God Is Dead 7″.

This issue has short spreads on the Bad Brains and Undead, some scene news and a smattering of record reviews. The cover is great Bad Brains art by Donnel G. of Th’ Influence (another all-black early NYC band, if anyone has ANY recording by this band please contact me!) At any rate, these are virtually impossible to find now, so the $19.99 BIN is not a bad deal for a nice piece of vintage NYHC ephemera.

The scene is real & made up of friends, Not centered on fashion or New York trends! 10

X-Claim had a theme going with band names all being acronyms SSD, FU’s DYS…. damn Jerrys Kids came along and ruined everything!!

X-Claim # 2 The FU’s ‘Kill for Christ’ from 1982
– great record, amazing band, Pushead album cover art! I was never a huge fan of The Straw Dogs, but I love me some FU’s. I have My America, but its the 1989 Classy Records version. Alas, no X-Claim vinyl for me.

X-Claim # 3 SS Decontrol ‘Get It Away’ from 1983
– the band that started it in Boston, the original Boston Crew, probably SSD at their best, there is no denying what a great song ‘Glue’ is! As much as I would love to get to hear these songs live I’m glad that the history of SSD was not tainted by the ‘Springa Sings Decontrol’ tour that was suposed to happen a couple of years ago.

X-Claim #4 DYS ‘Brotherhood’ from 1983
– Wolfpack was my favorite straight edge record when I was in 10th grade so by default I think this is my favorite X-Claim release plus its got cover art drawn by a young Dickey Barret! I will admit that it doesnt feature D. Christian Smalley with a lizard on his shoulder the way the 2nd DYS record does, but Jon Anastas does have his own Wikipedia page that lists him as “Punk Rock Musician/Hardcore Pioneer”.

sometimes you just need more SLEEP! 0

Mar8

Sleep may not have invented ’stoner metal’ but they might have perfected it! Holy Mountain is definilty my favorite record of the genre.

1 – Here is a pretty awesome test press of the original Earache pressing. I made a best offer of $100, but it was declined. : (

2 – A sealed green vinyl copy from the Earache 2nd press. Limited to 1000 on green and 1000 on what they claim is 220 gram black vinyl.

3 – Last is a blue/red mix vinyl copy from the 2007 Kreation Records repress. Seller says this colver version is limited to only 250 copies.

BLACK FLAG – Nervous Breakdown 7″ (Duke’s copy) 1

Mar7

Not much to say here… arguably the first hardcore record ever, being sold in its original untouched state by Chuck Dukowski. What more do you need? As with other label chiefs selling their old stock copies (Jeff Nelson, Corey Rusk, etc), I can see this going for a pretty ridiculous price. Someone just needs to teach Chuck how to use his digital camera better.

I still don’t believe there were only 500 made of this record, probably more like 1,000 or 2,000. Also, to the contrary of the info in the auction, someone did sell a small handful of still sealed/deadstock copies on ebay a couple of years ago, so there’s more than one copy out there.

Crossover Sucks? 0

Mar7

No secret that I’m a huge Slapshot fan… but I have been known to enjoy some ‘crossover’ from time to time as well. I have a CD copy of the Judgement Night soundtrack and I have this Helmet/House of Pain 12″, but not the Biohazard one (which is another autographed record!).

This is a couple of 12″ers with BIN prices that are not super high. House of Pain & Helmet is five versions of the song ‘Just Another Victim’ and its on clear vinyl. The Biohazard & Onyx is four versions of the song ‘Judgement Night’.

ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR! 0

Mar6

I already mentioned that I’m a sucker for a signed LP so heres another one that I wish I owned. Ramones ‘Leave Home’ signed by the ‘brothers’ Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy. Looks like it was signed in 94 based on one of the signatures.

Awesome record, awesome band… high opening bid, but 3 out of 4 of them are dead. Rest in Peace boys!

A-TEAM – Clusterf#ck tour 7″ 0

Mar6

The first (and some say best) release on my stupid record label, presented here with alternate “Harshing Mellows Across America” tour sleeve and extra test press sleeve. I really wish he put the front cover of the record in the picture, so everyone could see Jon Clark passed out drunk in a puddle of his own technicolor yawn.

Items of note:
• Tour sleeve design by Dick Ded, aka Good Old Rich Perusi
• Smut Peddlers lyrics written on dust sleeve (shout out to Stab & Kill Recs)
• Moishe stamp peeking out from inside the sleeve (the offer still stands—send Painkiller cool stamps and we’ll send you free records)
• “You’ve Been Clowned” stamp that we used to stamp on black vinyl records and send to people we didn’t like in lieu of colored vinyl
• Original “heroin needle” PKR logo on labels, never to be used again per orders of AJ Maguire
• Secondary “Together comp stars” logo on sleeve, retired after release #3
• The sloppiest fun bags this side of California

Everyones Favorite Intergalactic Jizz Wailers! 0

Mar6

Star Wars just seems to go right along side of Hardcore. From the Cabal 315 Jedi shirts to the Slapshot ‘Darkside of the Straight Edge’ shirts its just a perfect match…. like choclate & peanut butter!

This is a 7″ of the ‘Cantina Band’ which was later named Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. Seven Biths from the planet Clak’dor VII, but you already knew that!

Figrin D’an – Kloo Horn
Nalan Cheel – Bandfill
Tedn Dahai – Fanfar
Doikk Na’ts – Doremian Beshniquel (or Fizz)
Ickabel G’ont – Fanfar
Tech Mo’r – Ommni Box
Lirin Car’n – Kloo Horn

Looks like this single might be the main Star Wars theme (which was not performed by D’an and the boys), the Cantina Theme and a track called ‘Funk’ which is probably their other most recognizable song.

Dee Dee… He Left Home… 0

Mar5

This is a 12″ of the song ‘Funky Man’ from the great white hope… the original white rapper… DEE DEE KING, better known as Dee Dee Ramone.

In the mid 80’s after leaving the Ramones Dee Dee decided to become a rapper and this is his debut 12″ on Rock Hotel Records from 1987.

I have the ‘Standing in the Spotlight’ cassette somewhere and I used to listen to it a lot. Its good for a laugh and some of the songs are catchy. Who can forget ‘Poor Little Rich Girl’ & ‘Mashed Potato Time’.

Anyway, Dee Dee King stuff usually sells for a decent price. This one is still really low so maybe someone can scoop it cheap!

DMZ – Lift Up Your Hood 7″ (Boston punk vol.3) 0

Mar5

Another one of the earliest punk records coming out of Boston, circa 1977. This 4-song ep shows the band wearing their influences proudly on their sleeve, from the Stooges-esque riffing to the spot-on cover of the 13th Floor Elevators’ classic “You’re Gonna Miss Me.” After the release of this record, they got signed to Sire records and released an LP the next year, then broke up after the LP received little fanfare. Singer Jeff “Monoman” Conolly and 2 of the other members then formed the Lyres, who went on to longer lasting fame and fanfare playing 60’s style garage rock lead by Conolly’s signature organ playing.

IMO this is one of the best early punk released you can get for the price (typically under $15), as all four songs are catchy, hi-energy rockers. If you’re ever in Boston, stop by Looney Tunes Records on Boylston Street and say hi to the Monoman.

Side note: rumor has it that the weird silver domes on the cover of their Sire LP (google image search it) were originally huge mounds of coke, and Sire airbrushed them out to make the cover look more wholesome.

Jah… Rastafari! 0

A lot of people really hated ‘Build a Nation’ … I’ll admit that it didnt live up to the hype or the years of waiting, but I like it. I’m also a sucker for cool colored vinyl and I really like the tri-color LP version a lot.

First we have Bad Brains ‘Build a Nation’ LP as a four 7″ set. Just like you would expect there is a RED vinyl, a YELLOW vinyl and a GREEN vinyl and the fourth 7″ is a picture disc verion with the cover art on it.

Second we have the ‘Build a Nation’ 12″ LP on tri-color vinyl… once again the classic Bad Brains RED, YELLOW & GREEN!

Shy Town vs The Big Apple 5

Mar5

a couple of BINs for some rare hardcore CDs.

first up is a pair of One Life Crew CDs. You get the ‘controversial’ 1996 Victory Records debut ‘Crime Ridden Society’ and the often hated follow up from 1998 ‘American Justice’ on Too Damn Hype Records. I know its not the popular opinion, but I like the 2nd record better. Its just hysterical… in fact, I think I’m gonna listen to it right now!

Second is the 1994 Another Planet re-issue of ‘Murphys Law’ and ‘Back with a Bong’ on one CD in a cool Digipack. This was part of a series of reissues Another Planet did taking two classic hardcore records from one band and putting them on one disc with new packaging and liner notes. They did Cro-Mags, The Mob, Murphy’s Law, Warzone & Leeway… not sure if there were any others. This is actually the only Murphy’s Law CD I dont have… maybe someday!

JOY DIVISION – Warsaw LP/7″ 0

Mar4

There’s nothing that screams JOY DIVISION quite like a set of rainbow tie dye splatter records, right? Not sure what the deal with this is, other than the fact that it’s a bootleg, but this is really freakin’ cool looking set of records. They just don’t do vinyl like this anymore. The auction info reads like something that was copied off of the insert, most likely written by an unscrupulous bootlegger.

Warsaw was JD’s name before they were JD, and they never had a legit release under that name. They were a lot more “punk” than JD, sounding not unlike early Wire or Crisis. There are a million different bootlegs of these songs, this one being one of the more interesting looking versions.

a SWARM of ISIS test presses 3

Mar4

three auctions for different variations of ISIS test press records. They are coming from someone in the loop either with the band or Hydrahead, but I’m not sure who. Definitly some cool stuff if you’re a fan.

1st auction is a test press for the double LP panopticon

2nd auction is a test press of only side D of the panopticon LP. Aparently there were lots of pressing plant issues when they were doing this record and somehow they ended up with a test press of only LP 2 of and one side was completly smooth.

3rd auction is the best one in my opinion. Its a complete set of test presses for the Oceanic Remixes volumes I-IV. The seller says there were only 8 test presses of volume IV so this one of 8 or less complete sets!

They both went down to Frisco, joined the SLA 0

Mar4

this is a pretty cool looking Ramones/New York Dolls split single. The Ramones side is ‘Judy is a Punk’ and the New York Dolls side is ‘Human Being’.

Coolest part is that its shaped like a sawblade and its split white/red vinyl. Its to bad that the Ramones side isnt ‘Chainsaw’ that would have been more fitting.

Not sure when it came out, but it was put out by a label called Musical Tragedies. It looks like it says #25 on the sleeve and on the center labels so it might have been part of a series of split singles or something?

Scumfucs, Murder Junkies & Southern Baptists 1

Mar4

a pair of original GG Allin singles both signed by the madman himself.

1 – GG Allin ‘Live Fast, Die Fast’ 7″ in picture sleeve from Black & Blue Records in 1984. The seller says that he bought the single in 84 and never played it.

2 – GG Allin ‘Public Animal #1′ 7″ in plain white sleeve unplayed with ‘warning sticker’ still intact. Coming from the same seller as the ‘Live Fast’ single, he says that this 7″ was a gift from GG and Merle when he met them in 84.

I’m not sure that these are worth the sellers BIN prices, but I’m a sucker for signed records and since I grew up in Rhode Island I was always amazed that Black & Blue records out of Smithfield, RI put out stuff like GG and Bloody Mess!
