Demos You Need

If you haven’t heard these demos, you are doing yourself a disservice.

The age of the demo tape seems to be fading, but I can’t imagine hardcore without them. Now with the ease of burning cds, anyone can crank out a demo. I’m not saying that’s bad. Not at all. I love getting new music on whatever format it happens to come. Hell, I’ll even take a stack of MP3s.

But the demo tape (and the associated mixtape) was a way of life for me.

And here are a few choice cuts.

Buried Alive demo. We’re talking 97 or 98. A great era for hardcore. Post Slugfest, Pre Terror. Great time for Mr Scott Vogel and Co.

Oh man, what do you know about As We Once Were? Wow. Pre negative mosh of No Warning, this was back when the crew was super posi straight edge. You have got to hear this. Pre Surplus Sons, that’s for sure.

During those early No Warning tours, they brought a couple bands up and down the east coast with them. There was Full Contact (Knockdown) and x The Game x. Yeap. The Game. Featuring X the gabe X on drums. Pre Soul Control, Pre Goat Island, post Corrin. It’s got everything you want from a demo. And it’s limited edition. What’s not to like?
