Abused – Loud and Clear

I guess good news travels fast because this sucker has only been up for few hours and already has seven bids on it. Not only that, it has just passed the $150 mark. I’m afraid it isn’t going to slow down much from here either.

psych-out2000 has one the legendary straight edge NYHC 7″ records ever released up for grabs. This is the self released 7″ on Abused Music that has all the heavy hitter collectors salivating. The Abused appeals to so many different groups that it only drives interest, and subsequently the price, up. So if you are into KBD, straight edge or New York Hardcore, this is one you want in your collection.

This record has eluded me for years. I was thinking about taking a run at it, but it is going to get out of my price range in a hurry. It’s just not every day you find one, let alone one in such good condition. Have fun, I’ll be watching this one from the sidelines.

Further Abuse

More Abused flyers as I clear out my doubles…

Here are numbers 5, 11 and 12 in the 12 part Abused series. Always loved the “Rotten Ronnie” flyer, mostly for the art but also for the fact that they decided to bill themselves above TSOL. I think I have a cassette of this show somewhere and it’s pretty awesome. Hopefully the Abused will reissue their recordings soon!

Drug Free Youth (on paper)

I recently decided to start thinning the herd over here at the HQ, so I have a bunch of stuff up on ebay (including an original Judge skiz tee) with lots more to come. Check everything out here.

Anyways… a friend and I stumbled into a small collection of vintage Abused flyers via one of the members of the band, and I’ve got a couple extra to get rid of. The Abused ep is one of the all-time great American hardcore records, and the band’s legacy is made that much cooler by their artwork.

If you’re not familiar, the band’s singer, Kevin Crowley, did artwork for a series of 12 flyers for the band’s shows, starting with #1 in June of 1982 and running up to #12 in March of 1983. There’s also a 13th flyer, announcing the band as “coming soon”, that predates #1. All of the flyers feature Kevin’s highly detailed pointillism style artwork, as well as a who’s who of early NYHC bands. Oddly, flyer #7 (the first one below with Frontline and Reagan Youth) was never distributed to the public, which seems strange but made total sense to hear, as I had never seen it before in my many years of flyer trading.

I really do think that these are the absolute best early hardcore flyers from the east coast, the art is amazing and no one else at the time was doing anything even remotely similar.

PS, if anyone has an original flyer #6 (the Mr. Softee art), I REALLY need an original to complete my collection!

NYC MID 80′s TRIPLE A ALLITERATION ALLSTARS ATTACK- Wtf am I talking about?

Antidote, Agnostic Front and The Abused is what I’m talking about.

This dude from crooklyn is selling these three hard-hitters all at once. Now, I have owned and sold all three of these records (some in mutiples) but never had to sell them all at once. What a total bummer. If I recall correctly, one of my fellow bloggers ended up the proud owner of a really minty copy of United Blood the last time I needed some cash on the quick. Take a bow Cooch, take a bow.

These are hovering around the middle of the price range these things fetch. If some ex punk CEO sets his sights on these you can kiss them goodbye. They can sometimes go for upwards of $600 rupies each. Good luck all you kids out there in eBay land.
