Alternative Flex Your Head

Hey yo, I knew of it, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before. The Alternative Tentacles / Dischord pressing of Flex Your Head! Way cool. I guess around that time Jello and the DK’s were really into the DC sound, and they say the “In God We Trust” EP was influenced by it. I wouldn’t have guessed but it is the tightest/fastest DK record before “Bedtime For Democracy”.

If youre looking to level up your copy of Black Flag “Six Pack” then hiroshithe1 has your chance. I believe this is the UK release of this ep thats why it was on Alternative Tentacles and not SST. I always have a soft spot in my heart for AT. One label that has put out records by DK, Bad Brains, and Black Flag. How can you not? I expect this one to go for cheap as well. Pretty much all BF stuff is cheap except color 12″s and nervous breakdown 1st press but i know there are a lot of nerd completists like us out there as well

One last sk82dth auction this morning; as with the others, this one is ending tonight, and I’m posting it to see how it does, since right now it’s got zero bids.

What makes this auction neat, is that it’s for the UK pressing done by Alternative Tentacles, and quite frankly it’s the first one I’ve ever seen up, which makes me extra curious as to how it’ll do.

Virus 100 Test Pressing!

About 10 years ago I was playing bass in a Ramones tribute band called Warthog with superstar drummer extraordinaire Marky McKay! I think we only practiced 2-3 times, but it was fun while it lasted. And just about completly unrelated to any of that, suburban_warthog has a few auctions up for some Ramones, Sex Pistols & Misfits stuff, but I think that this Virus 100 test press is the best item he has up.

Virus 100 was the 100th release from Alternative Tentacles and it was a compilation of bands covering Dead Kennedys songs. Some of the standouts for me are, Napalm Death doing Nazi Punks Fuck Off, Mojo Nixon and the Toadliquors doing Winnebago Warrior, Faith No More doing Let’s Lynch the Landlord & The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy doing a rap version of California Über Alles!

BAD BRAINS I Luv I Jah 12″

Scarce UK-only ep on Alternative Tentacles, featuring a few songs off the ROIR cassette. While not the rarest or more expensive, IMO this is the most obscure early Bad Brains release. Sight unseen, a lot of people confuse it with the Destroy Babylon 12″, I know I made that mistake for a while until I finally scored copies of both.

My favorite part of owning this record is that it has two of my favorite BB tracks (Big Takeover and I) cut on a screamin’ loud 45rpm 12″ instead of being buried in the middle of that crummy current vinyl press of the ROIR cassette.

The Hanson Brothers are the alter egos of Rob & John Wright from No Means No. The band started as a fun side project where No Means No would play sets of Ramones covers and then morphed into them writing their own ‘Ramones songs’. This is their 3rd studio album and my personal favorite. Their other LP covers parodied The Ramones ‘Road to Ruin’, DOA ‘The Prisioner’ and The Ramones ‘Its Alive’ but this ‘My War’ parody is my favorite.

Definitly worth a listen and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on vinyl before.

I’m pretty into this record, but I’m sure it will not end in my price range.

Test Pressing of the Dead Kennedys ‘Give Me Convience, or Give Me Death’ from 1987. I think this was the first DK record I got so it has always been my favorite. This also comes with a copy of the flexidisc that was included with the original press
