Not much time left on this one. The FUN FUN FUN 12″ ep is probably the best Big Boys record so its a good jumping off point if youre looking to start a Big Boys collection. This shit used to get BLASTED in my old house. It’s one of my favorite records, and they were Minor Threat’s favorite band so you might as well pick this up from infestinfest.

Weird. Now we’ve seen it all when it comes to Pay To Cum EPs. A beat sleeve, a minty sleeve and now this weirdo boxset from huntr777. It almost doesn’t make any sense. Here’s the description:

Bad Brains – Pay To Cum LIMITED EDITION PROMO BOX SET Let me tell you about how I came to have this box set. A friend of mine worked at a record store in the early 90′s. Caroline Records had a contest only open to record stores, that the persons who made the best window display for the new Bad Brains album would win one of these box sets! THERE WERE ONLY 10 OF THESE EVER MADE! (This is #8). So what’s in this treasured box set? Well it comes in the numbered silkscreen box (of course), a VHS tape of the Quickness promo, the “Quickness” and “Youth Are Getting Restless” CD’s, an autographed picture of Dr. Know, 2 promo posters for “Quickness” and “Youth Are Getting Restless”, and the “Pay To Cum” 7 inch’s in red, yellow and green vinyl! I have had this sitting in my own personal collection for the better part of 20 years! I have never ever seen another one of these ever, and considering there’s only 10 copies made I doubt I ever will again.

Question is, where is the picture of the window display? And who really wants this Bad Brains EP repress set that badly?

Damn, earlier this week, we saw a Bad Brains Pay To Cum EP with a picture sleeve. They don’t pop up a lot. And that one is pretty beat. But the price is crazy. And then, BAM, what77fuk comes at us with this EP and picture sleeve. Damn. This one is gonna get hectic. Lets do it.

Ok, so I don’t think this youtube video of Charlie Brown and co dancing to the Bad Brain’s Pay To Cum is anywhere near as funny as all the people posting it and reposting it on Facebook seem to, but given that mrep put up an original (albeit slightly beat up) copy of the Pay To Cum 7 inch up for auction yesterday, it seemed appropriate to include it.

I dunno, it’s cute and all but I’m not real life lol’ing with Christmas glee over it or anything. Maybe Jah stole my sense of humor?

Destroy Babylon again

This is a pretty cool, early Bad Brains 12″ single. I think this was the first “other” Bad Brains record I got after I got all the readily available ones. Between the legendary ‘ROIR’ tape and the “Rock For Light” LP, Bad Brains put out two 12″ EP’s. One on Alternative Tentacles and this one. The AT 12″ had some songs off the ROIR tape and this one seems to be a teaser for “Rock For Light”. Check out some hilariously bad reviews this got back in the day though.

NEVER GIVE IN!

I’m a big fan of cover songs and tribute records and I remember when I found out about this one I was really excited, but once I got it I was a little let down. Theres a few good versions of songs on it, but nothing that really grabbed me. Its still a cool record and its pretty funny to see Bad Brains colored vinyl thats not red, yellow or green.

batfuk doesnt list the tracks, but I know that it includes Moby, Ignite, Downset, Shai Hulud, Boy Sets Fire, Cave In and a few other bands. Ever hear No Doubts version of Sailin’ On?

Bad Brains – Destroy Babylon EP + Setlist

Up until I pulled out my copy of this single i thought it recordings from the RIOR sessions. But low and behold there was Ric Ocasek’s name on the insert. So what we have here is the Destroy Babylon +3 12″ single off of Rock For Light. I always loved the look and feel of this record. The paper the insert is printed on and the thick brown cover both lend a nice aesthetic to it. Its not super rare like Pay To Cum, but the jem that adversewind gives us here is the period set list. I love old set lists, and it doesnt get much better than a 1983 Bad Brains set list. Decorate that new dorm room in style.

Tired of listening to that Caroline pressing of Rock For Light with its shitty metal mix, sped up songs and different track listing? Lucky for you theres a few choices at your disposal. First you can start with
akumanouta and his 1st pressing on PVC.

Feeling a little more ambitious and you can go for the French pressing offered up by isao100. Sure the shipping would be from Japan but how often do you see this pop up?

Really feeling like a completist? greece! has up a new one for me. This is my first time seeing a greek pressing of this and i’m thinking i might need it myself.

Now lets say you’re having doubts you’re going to like the original mix over the Caroline mix. Why not pick up this test pressing from slcd.com to check the audio quality?

At one point I owned 2 of these which i got for under $100, so the BIN is a little high for my tastes given the relative ease of finding one. That doesnt make it any less of an awesome record though and its definitely not the highest I’ve seen one be priced at.

I know I just posted some ‘Pay To Cum’ auctions a little bit ago but the Bad Brains are basically one of my favorite bands in the world and I think this lot is pretty sweet. I have the gold/orange one but I didn’t even know they also made the red and green ones for RSD. Next to the original pressings these pressings are probably the best thing. Someone with more money than me should buy this nice little lot from raygun834 here.
