Today is going to be a day of themed posts from me and I’m going with white rappers as my theme and what better place to start than with the Beastie Boys!

sogand20 is selling one of the 4 LP box set versions of ‘Check Your Head’, limited to 2000 I think. This is definitly not my favorite Beastie Boys record. I would have rather seen a super special version of Pauls Boutique insted, but who cares what I think.

I did hear something really cool about these box sets, but I dont know for sure thats its true. Someone told me that when they were first putting them together that the 3 Beastie Boys came up with the idea of taking some records out of theire own vinyl collections and randomly sticking them in these boxes with an explination that said something to the effect of “we thought this record sucked so we’re giving it to you – thanks Adrock, MCA & Mike D”. I hope thats true, because its pretty awesome!

a Beastie Boy with Suicidal Tendencies…

I believe that accdnprone has his Beastie Boys mixed up. His description of this record claims that its the side project of Adam “MCA” Yauch, but I think that BS2000 was actually Adam “Adrock” Horovitz and Amery Smith, the original drummer of Suicidal Tendencies. The LP came out in 1997 and has been out of print ever since.
