120 Bucks

Now and again you forget that hundreds of other people are out there all looking for the same shit you are, and you stumble across an auction that you convince yourself that nobody else will have seen. First of all you convince yourself that  ’nobody else in the whole world will be looking for this‘, and then you get all excited when you realise that the seller is only selling one item and they haven’t had the sense to use any keywords in the title. You then manage to convince yourself that even if anyone else does want it, their searching skills won’t match yours and they just won’t have found this. Yep, this thing is definitely going to be yours. You sit and watch it for 6 days and the price stays firmly on $0.99, and you start to get excited, thinking you are going to net yourself a real gem for a bargain price. And then suddenly with a couple of hours to go, inexplicably the price starts going up, and then with only ten minutes left the price is already way beyond what you were ever going to be comfortable paying. So you spend a minute or two considering whether you are prepared to pay a little bit more. You calm yourself down and realise that yes, you will, because this is what you have to do to get this thing that you have been certain would soon be yours. It’s too late to now consider life without it as you had already thought about running your fingers over the cover and had planned which box it was going to go into. So you bid your newly revised high price… and then some inconsiderate shite outbids you in the last three seconds! Even worse, someone else tried to snipe it and the thing ends up selling for about three times more than your newly revised sky-high price. And then reality sets in. You still don’t own it. Even worse, the new market price has been established at ten times more than you have ever paid for anything in your life. You sit there and think ‘how the hell did anyone else find this record?‘ and then later, once you have calmed down, you start to think ‘how could I be so dumb to think that nobody else would have been watching this?‘. Yep, it happens to us all.

So hands up.. who’s been watching redscrollstore‘s blue & orange swirl vinyl copy of the first Fastbreak LP and thinking that there was actually a chance that they might bag it for a dollar?

Two Chances To Get High.

Sellers solutionrecordsx and teenagetupelo bring you two chances to snatch up the extremely under rated s/t lp from the late 90s awesomeness that was Get High…

Both have been binned for under $10. Believe me, these records are a BIG win. Reflex Gun alone is just… damn. I’m gonna go put it on now.

2 Out Of 3 454 Big Block Records Ain’t Bad.

Sellers hauntedtownrecords and black-plastik bring us 2 records from one of the hardest bands to ever come out of Boston. Sadly, no one has a copy of their 2nd full length (and best record) Save Me From Myself available right now.

If I had to pick one of these to snag (and I don’t, since I already own and celebrate the entire catalog. I could use a shirt though…), I’d go with the 7 inch. The first lp tends to be a little more on the rock side in terms of production and song structure, and that sort of pales it in comparison to the intensity of the records on Big Wheel. The riff in My Father’s Eyes though… it’s a good one.

If you’ve never heard them at all, you can check out this video for the song Born Human:
