Brotherhood, Brotherhood, Brotherhood, Brotherhood

Seller xuttermoshx has got 4 different versions of the Brotherhood – Words Run…Thick as Blood 12″ with 0 bids across the board. This past month I visited Seattle, WA for the first time ever and recreated the picture that is on the cover of the compilation. Crucial Response had 3 presses of this records and xuttermoshx has got some of the more rare versions including; PINK SWIRLED VINYL out of 52, a 1st press CLEAR GREEN VINYL out of 273, a 1st press BLACK VINYL out of 807 copies, and a 3rd press WHITE VINYL out of 320.  It was cool to see the singer of Brotherhood at a gig in Seattle, I wish I could have seen what kind of shirts or records he’s got laying around his place.

A small price to pay for intolerance

What a cute ebay handle usedkidsrecords has, dontcha think?

As you can see this record design is very simple, threatening and I can only hope that it resonates with you. I can’t totally attest to what sort of context in Seattle motivated Brotherhood to use such words and imagery, but it doesn’t matter. Ebay went through a small drought the past two weeks, and in my opinion, it’s as if the dam busters have passed through. This record is absolutely essential for anyone dedicated to the movement, forever strong. As you know the songs on here are ranked among the hardest of the hard. I’m very pleased to say that I have footage of these guys playing in Toronto, as not many of these kind of bands ventured up to these parts back then.

Just for fun, I’m including the piece that DCXX posted about them as well. It’s well worth the read.

So proud of my country…

Brotherhood BIN for Edge Day

Much like sajidgy I’ve never been that big of a Brotherhood fan.  I tried to get into them over the years, but, nope, just not really happening.  People always would say, “Dude sounds like the Cookie Monster” well, I think the guitars sound like the Cookie Monster too.  The whole thing is just really Cookie Monstery.  But it is edge day, and the buy it now is reasonable.  Go for it.  Give it a shot.  Seattle Straight Edge.  I mean, they’re no Champion, that’s for sure.  But they were early flag bearers of the Northwest

Chain of Strength Test Press (kinda)

Ok, so I saw the title of this item & got excited, but then when I clicked on the auction itself I felt a bit let down, but still it’s true, statement-of-pride has a Chain Of Strength test press up for grabs. Probably only if you’re a real completist though. This one is a test of the ‘Generation Of Hope’ compilation 7″, which came out on Which Way Records, and which also features Brotherhood, Pushed Aside and a couple of others. The seller claims there are only 3 of these things. Doesn’t look like it is numbered, but I wouldn’t disbelieve it as I know that this dude has an amazing collection including many rare tests from the same era.

DYS Overload

There’s been a lot of DYS stuff on here lately and well, here’s more. Check it out, I think descendentsall is Bill Stevenson, and here he is selling what he believes to be an un-played og copy of ‘Brotherhood’ on XClaim! signed by his homie Dave Smalley. This is cooler than the test press The Taang store was selling for sure. There’s a lot more pics at the auction link and a question answered.

Better Late Than Never.

Seller xsheerxterrorx had a lot of auctions up last week, and I admit it: for a number of reasons (koffADanceWithDragonskoff), I slept on posting them. So many of them are ending in mere hours. But plenty of others don’t end til tomorrow. So I figured a couple samplings of some of the lesser appreciated records up for auction would still be useful…

An Early Break From Test Press Tuesday.

If that KYI record’s actual test press status was questionable, this next one from fifthwardboy is anything but. Anything but a test press, I mean. But that’s ok, because it’s a limited (/100) screen printed cover of the Brotherhood “Words Run… As Thick As Blood” lp, and it’s ending REAL soon.

And you know what? As long as I’m here, this 2nd press of the First Strike version of Chain of Strength’s “What Holds Us Apart” 7 inch is ending an hour after this one. Might as well leave this here…

80′s Straight Edge. Boom.

Kind of crazy how the “big names” in this series of 80s Straight Edge vinyl auctions from xuttermoshx are currently all skewing much lower than the likes of Wide Awake, Brotherhood, and Turning Point. Not like those are low sellers or anything, it’s just that I was totally expecting the Bold gatefold with poster to be the one climbing quickest.

No Tolerance For Ignorance.

If you’re into No Tolerance and Stick Together, and if you’re ignorant as to who Brotherhood is, or don’t know why you should think this record being sold by wurz1970 is AWESOME, you need to get a head check, stat.

Stock Collection – Brotherhood LP

I think this particular color wax copy of this record would qualify as “sexy”. That is one dope looking slab of wax. statement-of-pride may be a little dyslexic though as he typed out the pressing info twice as being out of 25 but its out of 52 according to Crucial Responses web page.
I think there is a eenough of these though to be able to pick one up on black wax. Youll be glad you did. It always looks dope in anyones collection and dont lie cause if you own this you know you probably spent way too much time over the years just staring at that cover photo!

1st press: 807 black vinyl, 273 green vinyl (a few are on solid green vinyl*). Comes with live photo insert. The back edge of the sleeve is white.
2nd press: 1569 black vinyl, 375 pink vinyl, 52 swirled vinyl. Comes with a Brotherhood Seattle Hardcore insert. The back edge of the sleeve is black.
3rd press: 1523 black vinyl, 101 of the black vinyl come with silkscreen sleeves (raw data No. 14), 320 white vinyl. White vinyl version has poster as bonus. Third press has different backcover and labels. Plus, the lyrics are printed on a seperate sheet

Attn Brett Beach.

We’d appreciate you clearing up some curiosity we have over weezethesneeze’s auction for this FP demo…

Now, so far as any of us recall, the FP demos had lite blue covers, which were stamped…

dobek
(Thanks Dobek)

The only other color covers we ever remember hearing about were red and given to Rick Ta Life for distro (I’m sure you can figure out why red). If there were more pics, it’d be a no brainer, but unlike this seller’s auction for the Brotherhood demo, which has tons of pics, the pic we showed is only the one here. That Brotherhood demo looks legit tho (dig the absolutely 80s cassette), which is why we’re not flat out saying we think the FP is a boot…

Dunno if it’s just the lighting in the picture washing out the blue or what (which would be a heck of a wash if you ask me), but either way, we’re just wondering what the deal is. Inquiring minds, and all that.

More cool comps

Morgado’s arch ebay nemesis natalia112345 is back again, and the prices are a little more down to earth this time.

Here are a few cool comps with some notable tunes on them, all nice and cheap…

1. A Generation of Hope 7″
Great comp of late 80′s harder edge bands. Best Confront song, everyone’s favorite Chain song, and the only studio track released on vinyl by the almighty Pushed Aside. If you haven’t heard Pushed Aside’s demo, do yourself a favor and grab the 7″ reissue from a few years back on Indecision.

2. In-Effect Sampler cassette
This was released as a promo for current and upcoming records on In-Effect. This comp is cool because it has the only ever officially released songs from Sick Of It All’s demo tape, and has a couple of songs from the legendary Raw Deal demo. A steal at only 99¢!

3. Chop Chop 7″
Decent Bad Trip song on side A, but this comp is really worth getting for the A-Bomb-A-Nation tracks at the end, which although they are live, are (sort of) the only vinyl output from this seriously underrated NYHC band. There’s another comp ep with them playing live on WFMU radio (which is AWESOME), but 450+ of the 500 copies made have been sitting in a basement in NJ for the past 15+ years.

TRUE TILL DEATH

recordology has a bunch of hi-end records up including some test presses. A nice collection for sure.

I already mentioned that (like most hardcore fans in the north east) I was at the Gallery East Reunion show last Sunday. When it was first announced I was SUPER psyched, but then I saw the rehearsal footage of DYS and I was really worried that they were gonna suck. I got there really early and saw their sound check and I was convinced they were gonna suck. It was a really long day but there was enough cool stuff that even if DYS sucked it would have been a good day. Springa did ‘Boiling Point’ with Refuse Resist. Slapshot played an almost flawless set. GangGreen was awesome and Jerry’s Kids was unreal!! But even with all that while DYS was setting up I was hoping they wouldn’t suck and even though I know they were not the same DYS from 1982, they were good! The songs from Brotherhood sounded good and a few of the ones from the 2nd record were okay too. I got sucked into buying some merch and I actually stage dove during Wolfpack…. it was a good day.

I saw a guy walking around with a copy of this record that he had signed by Jonathan Anastas, Dave Smalley and Dicky Barret which I thought was pretty cool! I still don’t own this LP, but someday I hope to have all of the XClaim releases…. and this is my favorite.
