Champion Live LP test press

I remember when this live Champion LP came out, I saw it before the guys in the band had gotten their copies in the mail. I resorted to my usual schtick of being a ball buster. I called Aram and told him I thought that “vitamin piss yellow” was a great color choice. I don’t remember exactly what happened, but I am sure I got called a dick, or a “bad friend” for giving him shit. Sorry Aram. Also, sorry I didn’t make it out to your last show. I really wanted to make it to this show, but funds were a lil too tight at that time. This was a great way to capture that last moment of the band. Another lightning bolt from our friend deekymutombo.

Torn between Edge Day and Test Press Tuesday…

I am really torn here. It seems that deekymutombo AKA Kyle Whitlow has listed some serious Straight Edge test presses. Now the question, do I post on 10/17, or wait till TPT? I think considering that this is a split between Champion and Betrayed, that it is just way more edge, so it deserves to get posted today. I will save the rest for tomorrow.  I remember the first time I heard these songs, Champion and Betrayed both played at the Che Cafe with The First Step and Sinking Ships, (12/05/2005?) it was a crazy show, as I’m sure you could imagine.

NED: Straight Edge Lot

I don’t know if gblairkemp planned this auction to end today, but it’s a smart move. The bands featured in this lot were some of the top straight edge bands of the last 10 years. Champion, The Promise, Stand And Fight … The Time Is Now Comp. You’re moshing on edge day. Moshing.

ps. Damage Done. Straight Edge?? Can’t recall.

Different Directions

I wonder how often people buy records just because “they look cool.” I guess there is some merit to that. Great looking sleeves, well done design work, ill color vinyl, … I can see that. But isn’t it the music that counts? Well, either way you shake it on this one, you can’t go wrong. Look how dope this vinyl looks. And then watch this video and see what the vinyl contains.

The El Corazon is weirdly shaped.

Champion – Promises Kept

As I sit in my newly laundered, new to me Champion Seattle Straight Edge sweatpants (thanks Taylor! Checking out Kicked In now), I’m reminded how awesome Champion was and is. Promises Kept was the album that put them on the map. The Count Our Numbers and Come Out Swinging EPs were stellar, but Promises Kept, two years later, felt like it was groundbreaking and opened all the doors for them. Thanks to dmendivil13, you can pick up most of the entire pressing in one fell swoop (and probably save on shipping).

1st press /220

1st press /220

2nd press /500

3rd press warehouse edition /205

Keep digging for the that first press record release lp on white, the cassette and the regular final show LP. That’ll get you the full set. 3 to go!

One Day Left!

How did we miss all the rest of these Lockin Out and B9 related gems from modbasher187 until now? Well, better late than never I guess, as these have just under a day left to go…

And there’s plenty more where that came from, so be sure to scope out the other auctions!

Invest In A Boombox

Oh man, deathwishinc is back at it. Not only does he have up “H” eps (Hands Tied, Hardstance, Hope Con, …), but he also has these great demos. Lets peek.

Lets start off with the Champion Demo. Fuck, so good. At that point, the west coast, especially the north west, was feeling a little stale. Sure, Carry On was about to blow up, but that felt like it. Trial had wound or was winding down. Stay Gold was flying under radars. When BAM, Champion hit the scene. Next thing you know, this band is touring the world and getting koala bears to wear x-rated swatches.

What about Against All? Definitely something you may have missed. This was one of Kev Bakers early bands. Before Hope Con, before All Pigs Must Die … yeah, way back, waaaaaay back. Even pre Piecemeal.

Cable came from that hardcore sector that birthed Isis, Converge, Botch, … but somehow, they didn’t make it as big. Not sure if they broke up too early, or what, but they didn’t hit it big like the rest. Which is unfortunate. Great little demo from 94.

American Nightmare, ever heard of them? Nah, me neither.
