SUPERBOWL SUNDAY: LIFE AND DEATH

Here is another of delapasion‘s auctions, this time a 2004 pressing of Terror’s Life and Death. I’m pretty shocked at how low this is going for all things considered. Maybe the seller isn’t great at promoting their auctions. I mean, we can’t all be Tre. It’s hard to believe that 2004 was 8 years ago, the time really does fly.

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY: With a Bong

importsounds is selling a clear vinyl promo version of Back with a Bong. From the photo I don’t know what makes it different than the standard pressing(Probably the white labels). I was surprised how much this was going for, but in looking around at other Murphy’s Law auctions for this record, even the black vinyl standard pressing is going for about the same price.

Where were you when the Y2K bug brought down the world?

In December of 1999 I was working at Boston.com and everyone was worried that when New Year’s Eve came around, the Y2K bug would take down all of our computers and the web site would crash. None of that happened, but Converge did put out this 7″. Clear vinyl, limited to 1000, and now over 12 years old.

What’s interesting is that there were basically no Y2K bugs, but this year on New Year’s Eve one hotels magnet cards all broke and left all of the guests locked out of their rooms.

It’s possible vacationla was also effected by the Y2K bug.

You forgot one Tre, Chain TTD on clear

straightray is breaking out the big guns. If those two Chain 7″s Tre posted are out of your price range then just move along now. Almost $300 and 4 days to go. It does seem like theres way less then 300 of these. Another Rev discography inaccuracy? Glad I picked mine up for alot less. Remember when the silver sleeve went for this much?

The Judge record nobody wants?

I don’t think I have ever met or even heard of anyone who actually likes this record. Mike Judge & Old Smoke ‘Sights’ LP. I remember buying this when it came out & thinking that it somehow seemed quite fitting. I dunno, it just didn’t seem that out of place. But somehow now that many years have passed, it now does seem like a weird release. I guess when I was younger I just saw Mike Judge as an older dude, and this seemed like older dude music. I don’t know how old he is, but I’m guessing that he probably was under 30 when this came out is what makes it seem a little odd. How anyone under the age of 50 could make this record is beyond me.

Kinda funny how seller xxxevilxxx666 drops into the description ‘ORIGINAL PRESSING ON REVELATION RECORDS!! ALREADY OUT OF PRINT’. Already? Like 18 years could be seen as fast for a record to sell out. Ha!

Coalesce OX EP Special Edition

Only two hours left on this special version of the Coalesce ‘OX EP’ being sold by ingramtime, aka Sean Ingram, singer of the band. This 12″ came out on Relapse Records a few months after the OX album, which was Coalesce’s big comeback record from a couple of years ago. It seemed to me like the LP received a lot of praise, but this EP kinda flew under the radar a bit. Not sure why, as it is great. Anyway, as you may or may not know, Relapse records make 100 clear vinyl copies of all their releases, and these records are not sold to the public, but given to the bands and friends of the label. Some of these people then offload their copies on eBay to make a few quid, and Joe Public usually laps it up. This particular record is not only on clear vinyl, but also has the artwork printed on the flipside. It’s a nice item no doubt. Also, I thought I’d just mention the fact that, rather than get out his camera and take a own photo, the seller borrowed the picture from my blog. Not that I mind of course.

ISIS x 3

Here are a few more gems from the fate_just_missed divorce sale. This time 3 beauties of the ISIS variety.

The Swarm Box Set – 2008 CONSPIRACY / ROBOTIC EMPIRE RECORDS limited to only 600 copies worldwide. I hope to own one of these someday.

OCEANIC REMIX BOX SET – ROBOTIC EMPIRE RECORDS clear vinyl limited to 300 copies!

SAWBLADE 12″ – 1999 TORTUGA RECORDS clear vinyl limited to 250 copies. This is the vinyl press of the original ISIS Sawblade CD which was limited to 100 (50 black/50 red) and sold on tour/given to friends. My Sawblade CD is a hilight of my collection because I got it from the guys in the band. Damn sentimental value keeps me from selling it!

It’s Always Darkest…

Like almost everyone else here but Dave, I have zero cool Turning Point stories to tell. To be honest, I don’t even like them all that much, at least not as a generic Straight Edge hardcore band anyways. I mean, I was in a band that covered The Few And The Proud at practice when I was like 19, and even then I always thought it was the cheesiest, most awkward song in the world to sing. But whatever. I’m totally cool with admitting that they got way better later on, as I dig the songs from the “It’s Always Darkest…” lp a great deal (tho my favorite TP tracks are the ones on the split with No Escape). And sellers 801williamm and chainxcrew coincidentally just happen to both be selling it… of course, one is CLEARly doing much better than the other.

The Icemen Cleareth!

I guess that Mark from Slapshot has hoarded his share of the ‘band only’ clear vinyl ‘Icemen Cometh’ comp 7″s all these years! He just sold one that ended up over $30. With these being pretty old, unplayed and all hand numbered (this one is 273 of 500) I think this one will go for around the same.

Mark is the best guy and will probably sign this for you if you ask him to. I’m sure he would sign all your Slapshot stuff if you bring it to Quincy on October 8th and can find him in the crowd somewhere!

a note from the seller:
I played in Slapshot at this show, so you can count on the item being legit – and it has NEVER BEEN PLAYED. The version of “I’ve Had Enough” that is on here is particularly interesting, as Choke is giving Dan a hard time about Slapshot being “old men”… Quite funny.

Troubled Youth

Here’s one of my favorite local records courtesy of righteeo (who I’m guessing is Mark from Slapshot since he says “I released this single”).

I had no idea the clear version was limited to 100, I traded away one of these and a test press to a friend in Japan a few years ago in a blockbuster trade to get a bunch of rare Japanese hc platters. Anyone have any idea how many green vinyl copies there are? I think I still have one of those.

PICK YOUR KING

Another baller status platter that matters from record_lover, and pretty much the best hardcore record ever in my humble opinion. The price on these things has been freakin skyrocketing lately, and unfortunately this one doesn’t show any signs of going cheap.

Funny thing most people don’t know about this record is that the black vinyl was actually pressed first, but the clear was released to the public first (due to a pressing plant screw-up). So technically clear is the second press, but no one really cares because it’s definitely the cooler looking version.

I GOT THE BONG!

The first hardcore show I ever saw was Murphy’s Law headlining at the ‘old’ Living Room in Providence. It was a Sunday afternoon in the summer of 1989 and I took the bus from Woonsocket to Providence with 2 other friends who had been to a couple of punk shows already. I had grown up a ‘Head Banger’ and had recently discovered ‘punk’ so I was terrified and had no idea what to expect.

Local band The Wurst was first and I remeber it being the first of many times that I saw Rob Phelps with his huge head of liberty spikes. The 2nd band was Low Meato and all I remember about them was that they had a song that used the riff from Paraniod by Sabbath.

My the time Murphy’s Law started I had ended up right front and center at the stage. At some point I was pushed on to the stage but was content with sitting there, until one of the boucners decided I needed to move and with assistance from him and Jimmy G I made my first (un-intentional) stage dive! If I remember right I fell like a rock through the crowd to the floor, but the minute I landed and people helped me up I realized it wasnt that bad… Hell, I even liked it a little!

I still have the ‘Back with a Bong’ shirt that I bought at that show and a pair of official ‘Dougie Beans signature drum sticks’ that I picked up off the floor. Its been a long road, but I’m still grateful to my friends for taking me to that show and many more that followed!

Choose your format & relive my childhood memories!

Free Spirit – America Or BUST!

Free Spirit will be taking America by tour next weekend with Dead End Path and United Youth. Do your American duty and support these dudes. You can accomplish it by doing any (and all) of the following: moshing a lot, stage diving, buying a tshirt (that you don’t plan to flip on ebay), buying some records, bringing Gil snoopy related tshirts and tchotchkes. And Canadians, I realize you aren’t American or part of America, and that their 4 day tour is actually spent half time in Canada. That’s fine. You can show your Canadian pride by bringing Gil maple syrup and snoopy tchotchkes with maple leaf logos among the other items listed above. Check out the tour dates here.

Grab this Free Yourself EP from everyonerage26. Clear vinyl, limited to 300. Shout outs to Sam Triple B who I saw for approximately 4 seconds at a gig last night. What a weird gig.

The Damage Of Days.

Couple more records from seller thedanceofdays, and both of these are great ones. Alas, both have some minor sleeve damage at the top edges…

For better pics of the damage, check out the auctions; he’s got everything well documented with close ups.

Arf Arf Arf.

A pair of Murphy’s Law lp’s here from brooklynseller, and I seem to recall Cooch once saying something about the black vinyl actually being the rarer version of these, and they sure do turn up WAY less than the green copies. So what I’m saying is, even if you already have this on green, you should be trying to get your hands on the s/t up for sale here. Not that Back With A Bong on clear shouldn’t be in your NYHC collection, tho the question is, does this copy come with the old order form for plastic beer mugs and ML mesh hats?
