SUMMER OF GEORGE!!

If you wanted buy records on speculation of resale value I would say that anything that Bridge 9 puts out by Polar Bear Club would be a good place to start. I’ve been wrong before and will be wrong again, but something about PBC just makes me think they may eventually break through even bigger than they are now and the early B9 stuff will be worth a decent amount. I’m not really sure what subgenre of hardcore they fit into, but I really like their first record and all the rest of the stuff has been pretty good too.

This 7″ came out about 2 years ago to help promote a summer tour and the name ‘Summer of George’ is an awesome Seinfeld reference! This auction is for all 3 colors that were pressed. Green vinyl of 800, grey vinyl of 400 and orange vinyl of 300. I have these so I’m curious how how they get!

Since I’m pretty sure everyone heres knows what Bridge 9 is all about if you have a friend, nephew, neice, friends kid etc that is just getting into music you could pick up the 2009 B9 Summer comp LP for them. Limited to only 1000 all on grey marble vinyl. You really cant beat a good 14 track comp for this minimum bid!

Pusmort sampler

A classic from xcactusdavex

I remember when I first got into record collecting, anything Pushead related was next to impossible to get your hands on. This comp, and the first two Septic Death 7″s were early top wants of mine, and I probably ended up trading away some cool records to get them. These days you can find them all over the place on ebay, and it seems like they’ve lost their charm a little. This is still a great comp though, with some of the best thrash hardcore bands of the day, and this was also my introduction to Japanese hardcore (via the Outo and SOB tracks on the flexi).

The Brophy Bunch

A compilation 7″ featuring Colin Of Arabia, Cut Throat, Shere Khan & The Confrontation is a pretty cool thing. Make that same 7″ green vinyl and put it in a hand numbered sleeve out of only 20 copies and only sell it at the 2nd day of Mission Fest 2006 and it’s even cooler.

I dont know if konnektmma actually knows Brophy or not, but if you do that would make this record even cooler!!

Shout Outs.

These two records up from grafiksboy go out to my man American Stan. I know he’d be psyched on both, tho I would hope he has his own copy of DFTS DFTS already…

Forced Reality on that comp, what’s up Shop Shogun? Heard they have Cro-mags shirts now, that rules.

“This is Springfield, Not Shelbyville”

I remember getting this CD with a copy of Change Fanzine #11 when I worked at Newbury Comics. I dont recall what was in the zine, but I mainly bought it for the CD anyway. How can you not love a comp called “This is Springfield, Not Shelbyville”!

The CD is 47 tracks including a bunch of Simpsons themed songs and covers by a bunch of bands I’ve barely heard of and a bunch of audio clips of Simpsons quotes.

The highlight of the comp is a rendition of Millhouse singing a song called “Firestorm Springfield” thats a nod to Earth Crisis and a rant about how the Simpsons sucked after season 10.

The seller, changezine is actually the guy that put out the zine about 11 years ago. He says that they pressed 2000 CDs and they all sold out but he had a bunch of booklets left so he is selling CDR copies with original booklets for ONE DOLLAR! Seriously…. $1 and FREE shipping… GO BUY THIS NOW!!

Some bands on the comp include…
Hallraker, Hooray For Everything, The Brickbrats, Arson Family, Black Army Jacket, Gun It, They Live, Asspatula, The Adhesives, Tied Down, Standing 8 and a bunch more.

still cleansing that bacteria!

This record might be becoming like the red Terror baseball jackets. One person sold one and got a bunch of cash for it so more and popping up for sale. I’m hoping that enough come up that the price will drop into my range and I can pick one up kinda cheap, but that reamains to be seen!

Cleanse the Bacteria comp on orange vinyl with the bonus black vinyl 12″. Seige, 7 Seconds, COC, Mob 47… you know the drill!

Choke on 7 inches…

The grey vinyl of this 7″ dont pop up very often. Its limited to only 400 and its got the Steve Priest lables and the original foil Steve Priest sleeve. Its also available on blue vinyl, limited to only 200, but that one has the lables from the Vulture Rock pressing even though it still comes in the foil sleeve.

The Icemen Cometh is a great comp 7″ featuring Slapshot along with Pushed Aside, Hard Stance & No For An Answer. I assume this is the standard black vinyl and I’m not sure how many were pressed. I know that there were 500 done on clear vinyl which were mostly given to the bands that played the show.

The Firewalker 7″ came on black, white, red, yellow and blue vinyl. The blue is actually my favorite, but I actually just found a variation of the yellow thats more of a green vinyl. I assume the green is a transtional press from the yellow vinyl to the blue vinyl, but I’m not sure.

The Back to Back comp is from Lost & Found Records in 1995 and features Slapshot, along with Right Direction, Backfire, Damnation, Ryker’s & Bitter (Chris Lauria’s from Slapshots side project which also features current Slapshot drummer John Bean and the one and only Keith Bennett from Wrecking Crew). This 7″ came on yellow vinyl and black vinyl in this sleeve, but Rykers also did their own pressing of 300 on clear vinyl with a photocopied sleeve that they sold on tour.

CREEPY CRAWL!!

I worked at the Newbury Comics warehouse in 1997 when this record came out and I got a promo copy of the CD a while before it actually came out.

Its a great comp CD, but it holds a special place for me because when it came out a friend and I were in the process of opening a comic book/collectible toy store in Bellingham, MA. When we were trying to come up with a name the CD was sitting on my desk and like a sign from the gods… there it was… and so it was… our store to be known as CREEPY CRAWL!

We were not the best buisness people and the store only lasted a year, but we tried and it was a good experience.

As I/We/She/Him/Shim Look To The Future

Today is my boy Naidoo’s birthday, so here are some items he would approve of.

This is the As We Look To The Future comp EP on Stonkie Records. It features Capgun, Driven, The Rolemodels and Bane. I never knew much about the other bands, but apparently one of the dudes in Rolemodels would later play in Marked Men. And a dude from Driven would go to play with Killswitch Engage. Who knew?

This EP came in a few different flavors, lots of mixing. There is black vinyl with white sleeves, black vinyl with light blue sleeves, blue vinyl with white sleeves (and maybe blue sleeves too) and black vinyl with white sleeves with a stonkie stamp numbered out of 20. There is also a bunch of mix up sleeves.

It seems like it was a bit of philosophical issue. Some sleeves came with the “As I Look To the Future.” Where others (presumably later), came with the sleeve “As WE Look To The Future.” Certainly, WE makes more sense considering it is a compilation of 4 bands.

Happy birthday to Naidoo. Buy these for him.

FLIPSIDE Volume III

I’m not a huge fan of compilation records, but this is a pretty good one. Also a cool record to pick up if you collect any of the specific bands that are on it.

Flipside Vinyl Fanzine started in 1984 and Volume III came out in 1987. Its got tracks from The Adolescents, Slapshot, Shonen Knife, 7 Seconds, Tesco Vee with White Flag, Corrosion Of Conformity, Lemonheads, Circle Jerks, SNFU and a few other bands.

NYHC – Where the Wild Things Are comp

There was a time before ebay and the internets when this record was kinda rare. Its such a crucial comp that is often overshadowed by the Rev ‘way it is comp’. What about opening a comp with “the hardway”?? What a brilliant move on blackouts part! Love the cover image. I also have this as a poster and it hung up in my room throughout college. I believe I got the poster at pheonix records in waterbury,CT. My friend and I had to convince the owner to go through giant unorganized pile of posters in the corner as long as we promised to put everything back. We came away with a couple of those, a combat core poster, YOT WNITA poster, and a couple others. We went through every single poster in there!
coincidentally this is my favorite color wax of this comp. I just think it suits it well. Anyone know the pressing info on this comp?!
