I love this comp. The problem is most of the time it takes me like 5 tries to get past the first song because I keep rewinding to the beginning when its over. dolo74 is selling the double LP version of this famous tape cassette compilation.

Chain of Strength Test Press (kinda)
Ok, so I saw the title of this item & got excited, but then when I clicked on the auction itself I felt a bit let down, but still it’s true, statement-of-pride has a Chain Of Strength test press up for grabs. Probably only if you’re a real completist though. This one is a test of the ‘Generation Of Hope’ compilation 7″, which came out on Which Way Records, and which also features Brotherhood, Pushed Aside and a couple of others. The seller claims there are only 3 of these things. Doesn’t look like it is numbered, but I wouldn’t disbelieve it as I know that this dude has an amazing collection including many rare tests from the same era.
P.E.A.C.E. comp 2xLP w/ booklet!
devilsmark is selling a classic comp here. I would even go as far as to say that outside of “Flex Your Head” this is my favorite 80′s comp. I first heard this on CD when I got it from NRA in 1998. Here is where I as a young punk kid first heard a lot of great bands that I would go on to love, like Cause For Alarm, Articles of Faith, Gism, Mob 47, Reagan Youth, DRI,and many more. I already heard some of these names and I think I saw an ad for the CD re-release of this in an New Red Archives catalog, and was like whoa, all these bands in one place, I gotta get it! All these years later I am still very glad I did.
It’s rare to find one with the big booklet! For a full list of bands and more information about this 2xLP not found in the auction go here. It’s at $30 right now with no bids and some time left, I think I paid $40 for mine a while ago, they aren’t getting any less rare. Don’t sleep.
Dig the new breed
Kind of a weird one here from gernblandsten — og book, og cover, og labels, with newly dubbed tape. The bin price seems high, but hey… “Never Ending Game” is worth pretty much any price you can pay.
End The Warzone
I remember when I first got into record collecting, this record was legendarily unpossible to find. I remember around 1995, I traded a laser disc player for this comp and a Cocksparrer Shock Troops LP. Definitely one of the weirder trades I’ve ever made. At any rate, here’s a copy languishing away at 5 bucks in the tko_records store.
I know everyone wants this record for the Straight Ahead tracks (featuring 9 of the 12 cuts from their demo), but the Attitude Adjustment tracks are also really good, and I believe those are from their respective demo as well. The Larm and PHC tracks aren’t so hot, as both bands have far superior material on other releases.
First press here with blue labels, 2nd was red. Have at it while the havin’ is cheap
DEATH… the record.
Its kind of odd, back when I was looking to discover new bands and didnt have much money to buy music I hated compilation records. I think I felt like I should just spend my money on one record that I would like rather than get 10 songs from 10 bands and maybe only like half of them. The problem is that sometimes I would buy a record and I would hate the whole thing and it was wasted money!
Now that I’m older I’ve grown to appreciate a good comp a lot more and even gone back to some older ones that wont expose me to anything new at all. I love the DEATH comp that yo_baby_sup has up for sale and I’ve actually picked it up a few times on local record shopping trips, but havent bought it yet. You get classics from C.O.C., Dr. Know, The Mentors & D.R.I. all on one LP!
I used to look at the merch from in those old cassettes and wanted to order a DEATH Records shirt SO bad, but never did… I’m sure the odds of finding an XXL Death Records shirt are pretty slim at this point, right Casali?
Awwww…. isn’t that cute!
vinylmanianycpart2 has a cute little pumpkin shaped orange vinyl 7″ (maybe its an 8″ or 9″) called “Horror Rock Classics”. Its in a clear sleeve with the name & info printed on it and the center label has a jack-o-lantern face on it.
Other than the visual the seller doesnt offer much info, but I was able to find out that its from Rhino records and its these 4 songs…
1. ADDAMS FAMILY THEME – FIENDS
2. OUT OF LIMITS – THE CHALLENGERS
3. HAUNTED HOUSE – JUMPIN GENE SIMMONS
4. PURPLE PEOPLE EATER – SHEB WOOLEY
BOSTON INFEST!
I think I only went to one of the Boston Infest shows, but the line ups were always pretty solid. I’m not gonna waste time with this one I’ll just give you the track listing on the LP that andyssoundsgood is selling and you will know why you need to buy it right now!
20-To-1 – Youth Anthem (Let’s Go To Boston)
Hammer Bros. – A New Beginning
Concrete Facelift – C.F.L
Defcon 4 – Day Late, Dollar Short
The Blue Bloods – Left Out In The Cold
The Profits – No Deposit, No Return
Tommy & The Terrors – I Love Rock N’ Roll
Out Cold – Quick Fix
Toxic Narcotic – Inthe Mouth
Cheech – Straight Murked
Disaster Strikes – Stuck In Line
Dead Outlaws – Short Fuse
Thumbs Up! – Dan Is The Bastard
For The Worse – Guest Of Honor
The Refusniks – Eulogy
The Epidemic – Who’s Criminal
The Prowl – Trapped
Stress Cracks – Slit Wrists
The Struggle – Sacrifices
THIS IS PHOENIX NOT THE CIRCLE JERKS
Since its almost Halloween time I figured I would post an auction from hauntedtownrecords! Of course the record has nothing to do with Halloween and its to early to start posting only Misfits vinyl!
I’m actually posting this becuase its an old comp that I’ve never seen and it has a cool name. Doing a parody or tribute of an old record is an everyday thing now, but it seems like most bands did their own thing back in the day, but this comp is clearly a nod to ‘This is Boston, Not LA’.
I dont know the back story, but maybe Placebo Records had an issue with the Circle Jerks? Does anyone know? Anwyay, cool name aside you get tracks from JFA, Mighty Sphincter, Solent Greene (not Soilent Green) and a few others.
Cleanse The Bacteria
Another nice one from robase, a long time want list topper…
This comp is basically the who’s who of international 80s hardcore — Poison Idea, Mob 47, Siege, The Execute, 7 Seconds and so many more. Almost too many though, as this record runs like 60 minutes total and sounds a little thin as a result. But who cares, when it has the only properly released Siege tracks, a trio of absolute paint peelers. The bonus 12″ adds some extra songs by some of the bands, including my all time favorite COC song, “Prayer”.
Supposedly there are 1000 copies on orange with the bonus 12″ (which is exclusive to the orange press). That number seems a little high, as they don’t turn up much, but who knows. It’s too bad this will never be reissued.
More cool comps
Morgado’s arch ebay nemesis natalia112345 is back again, and the prices are a little more down to earth this time.
Here are a few cool comps with some notable tunes on them, all nice and cheap…
1. A Generation of Hope 7″
Great comp of late 80′s harder edge bands. Best Confront song, everyone’s favorite Chain song, and the only studio track released on vinyl by the almighty Pushed Aside. If you haven’t heard Pushed Aside’s demo, do yourself a favor and grab the 7″ reissue from a few years back on Indecision.
2. In-Effect Sampler cassette
This was released as a promo for current and upcoming records on In-Effect. This comp is cool because it has the only ever officially released songs from Sick Of It All’s demo tape, and has a couple of songs from the legendary Raw Deal demo. A steal at only 99¢!
3. Chop Chop 7″
Decent Bad Trip song on side A, but this comp is really worth getting for the A-Bomb-A-Nation tracks at the end, which although they are live, are (sort of) the only vinyl output from this seriously underrated NYHC band. There’s another comp ep with them playing live on WFMU radio (which is AWESOME), but 450+ of the 500 copies made have been sitting in a basement in NJ for the past 15+ years.
Why Are We Here? (BIN)
Since there’s been some recent hype around Corrosion Of Conformity getting back together with the Animosity era lineup, this post is about 2% more relevant than my usual obscuro-core ramblings.
Here’s COC’s first vinyl appearance, a 4-way split of North Carolina bands. The other bands—No Labels, Stillborn Christians and Bloodmobile—are pretty ripping too, and for the most part this comp is their only proper release.
LOCKJAW Dead Friends 7″++
A while back I posted the first Lockjaw ep, and here’s the second. Musically this sounds pretty much exactly like the first ep, and imo this one’s harder to find, so jump on this if you’re a fan. Skinhead hardcore at its finest!
Also from the same seller is the Drinking Is Great 7″ comp, with tracks by Poison Idea, Lockjaw, E-13 and Final Warning. Aside from Poison Idea, this comp is the only other material released on vinyl by these bands. I’ve posted records by all of those bands before, so if you’re unfamiliar, click the Fatal Erection tag below.
These and a bunch of other good records are being sold by my man Mitch SXE, Japanese tour promoter extraordinaire and the first guy I ever traded records with in Japan.
Not so discount shopping…
I think that thevonroyale might not necessarily want to sell his records.
Well he does. But the way that anyone would sell almost anything. What’s that old adage? “Everyone has their price.”
Maybe you think that this record is worth $40. Me? I’d rather see this in the used record bin of the local record store for $10 (MAYBE) from some thrashcore retiree’s recently abandoned record collection.
For people who haven’t given up on fast, angry music yet, the HISTERIA compilation has some hits. Deathreat never fails. The Life’s Halt tracks were good, but not their best. As memory serves the rest of the comp didn’t live up to the (at the time) hype, but it’s a worthy purchase for any diehard. However, $40 is a bit steep. Even for the harder to find red vinyl. Generally speaking, most of the limited vinyl from Lengua Armada was only available through direct mailorder and was claimed before word necessarily hit the general public, but I remember tracking this down without too much difficulty.
Trying to find this record in 2010? Although I would rather try to get this from someone who’s new music collection is all Grizzly Bear and Pitchfork reviews for pennies on the dollar, that may not be an option for you.
