Petitioning My Empty Wallet

So I was listening to this album last night, and I gave it a thorough cleaning and realized just how beat my copy of it is. I mean, yeah, I got it used for $3, about ten years ago but, I guess I haven’t pulled it out in a while, even though I really love this album. So am in in the market to upgrade, upgrade! Couldn’t have picked a worse time though probably. Band is as popular as ever, record prices are as high as ever, so in most likelihood I will not be winning or even bidding on this nice looking orange vinyl copy offered by ekim90245. Favorite Converge LP? Maybe! ‘Emo-Slayer’, gotta love it! Pure raw, distorted chaos, but not sloppy or incompetent. What I always loved about Converge. That and the pile-on picture on the back. This one is ending kind of soon.

Where were you when the Y2K bug brought down the world?

In December of 1999 I was working at Boston.com and everyone was worried that when New Year’s Eve came around, the Y2K bug would take down all of our computers and the web site would crash. None of that happened, but Converge did put out this 7″. Clear vinyl, limited to 1000, and now over 12 years old.

What’s interesting is that there were basically no Y2K bugs, but this year on New Year’s Eve one hotels magnet cards all broke and left all of the guests locked out of their rooms.

It’s possible vacationla was also effected by the Y2K bug.

Converge Unloved quadruple 7 inch on WHITE

Here’s one from my dude Aram that comes from me. The Converge “Unloved And Weeded Out” 4 x 7″ on white vinyl. This was the 2nd press of the record, and we did it to fill out some covers we had left over from the first press of 2000. The reality is that there were actually only around 70 of these. There are 100 of each of the records, but we did only have 70 covers. I am sure we will do something with those other 30 or so we have lying around at some point…

Converge for Metal Monday

If you know me, you know that I pretty much hate metal. Shit is just silly most of the time. Fucking costumes, long stupid hair, silly lyrics and so forth. There are exceptions though, I’ve always loved Iron Maiden. But shit like Slayer? Get that shit out of here. Fucking kiddie music. So for Metal Monday, Converge is probably as metal as I can get, without venturing into “I hate this record” type posting territory. Not gonna venture too far from home here with this auction from earwax666hotmail since we put this out years ago. 2000 copies of this quadruple 7″ on these four colors were made. Shit sold out with the quickness.

Converge Petitioning Forever lonely bonus 7 inch

Not sure why spasmman has this poor lonely Converge bonus 7″ separated from his brothers, the Petitioning Forever 2xLP, but this is the rarest of the 3 colors it came on. The listing is a little off, there were actually 150 of these, not 100. Still, this is the from the first pressing, so there’s that. I know that we’ve found stragglers laying around the office, mismatched pairs, etc. This could be one of those records.

Only Living Witness s/t 7 inch for metal Monday

I have always favored the first 7″ from Only Living Witness to any of the later stuff. To me, it just got too rock-y, too much like Alice In Chains / Soundgarden, etc. I know that for most, that is when the band really hit their stride, but outside of Nirvana, the 90′s grunge rock deal never did too much for me. Just noticed that pibedos is located over in France, but I wouldn’t let that stop you.

I can’t knock Jonah’s voice though. Dude can sing for sure. Did you hear him on the Converge track “Grim Heart / Black Rose” off No Heroes?

Baroness Red Album test pressing

The first time i heard The Red Album I wasn’t sure what to think. It kind of annoyed me, i felt like the songs were boring and went on too long. Shawn and George used to play this all the time on Blacklisted tours. Like every day. After a while it started to grow on me. The same cant be said for Torche though after hearing that every day too.
Anyway we got to play with these guys once in Boise Idaho randomly right after this came out and it was one of the most intense 45 minutes of riffage I’ve ever seen. It reminded me of watching Graham from Annihilation Time play, just riffs from another planet.
_fate_just_missed has the test pressing of The Red Album, which only 7 were made of. Its the Hyperrealist pressing which pre-dates the Relapse Pressing

He also has up the first pressing on Hyperrealist on double red vinyl. Its still sealed which while cool doesn’t show off the awesome laser etchings around the edges of the vinyl.

Not as cool as the Bill Murray Stripes

…but a pretty decent stripe nonetheless.

So I am sitting here on the couch, trolling thru the eBay, and I check my twitter feed and see my man @jimmiexxx post a tweet about how the movie Stripes is on, and I scramble for the remote before remembering that I canceled cable a couple months ago. Dammit, well, there’s no way it’s on Netflix Instant. There’s no good movies there. WRONG! Looks like I am hanging out with Bill Murray tonight. I have no idea if freshandbroke is a fan of Bill Murray, or early 80′s comedies, but he seems like a fan of BINs, as he’s got quote a few up now.

There ended up being 642 of these Converge “You Fail Me” red / black striped LPs, and 8 wound up sloppy and splattery, which makes the full 650. We later took 21 of some leftover and screened cool covers for em. Both of those command top dollar, not as much as the clear / white striped though.  Shoot freshandbroke and offer, and see what sticks.

Old Converge – Just a bunch of jerks in high school

Hey, don’t get mad at me, those aren’t my words. This guy named michaela7156 on ebay said it.

Wow! You are bidding on a true piece of US hardcore history. From Boston, MA, this is the very first 7″ by CONVERGE. It appears to be self-titled. Love the band pic on the back. These guys were ust a bunch of jerks in high school when this came out on Foundation America Recordings. Incredibly out of print and rarely seen for sale anywhere.

Looks like michaela7156 is from the Winnipeg area, not sure he went to Andover High with the guys in the band. Maybe he moved there due to Converge being such jerks to him all the time? Who knows, Kurt can be a bastard if he’s hungry. Either way, he’s right, it is a piece of hardcore history, and it’s not seen all that often. Even with a starting bid of $19.99 it’s got some headroom before it maxes out. He notes that he loves the band pic on the back, I wonder if it’s one of the ones where we drew Dalbec into the photo on the back? No idea how many of those are out there.

Looks like he also got himself a copy of the coveted Halo In A Haystack LP too. Maybe he only collects records from jerks??

Converge Unloved. Hey! I put this out!

Figured a good first post here would be for the first record I put out back in 1995, the Converge “Unloved And Weeded Out” 7″. First pressing of 1000 copies, all on black vinyl with no labels. This copy is #450, which puts it smack dab in the middle of the approximately 900 that were numbered. The covers were just black and white photocopies on cardstock, and the plan was to glue a small color photocopy to the back. I got thru about 100 of them before I decided that it was a dumb idea. So the records numbered 1 thru 100 were the only ones that got the color back image. In addition, the last 100, which were given to the band, were left unnumbered. Also, a ton of these had random photos stuck inside of them, but I don’t seem to see those pop up too often.

The auction is currently at 1¢ from oathrecs, but it will probably go for a little more than that though. Get in early.

DROPDEAD > CONVERGE

fsccheek1 has a cheap copy of the recent DROPDEAD/Converge split 7″ that was put out by Deathwish/Armageddon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both bands. I got it and its awesome, but I’m a big sucker for Dropdead.

I know that far more people collect Converge records than Dropdead stuff, but I wonder if anyone out there plans to try and get a complete set? Brian from Dropdead said that there were to many color variations to count so this picture probably does not even show all the ones out there!
