Another memory brought back to me courtesy of mazzo29…
Ah Creep Division. I saw them open for Endeavor and Kid Dynamite in an Emerson College basement in Boston. Kill Your Idols might have played as well. To say it was awkward would be an understatement. They were the first band to play, and it was one of their first shows, so no one knew any of their songs, but it was Craig Ahead’s new band with dudes from Good Riddance, so everyone was watching them. There was no stage, and Craig just stalked the hardcore horseshoe screaming in people’s faces. They did cover Glue by SSD, and that obviously got a reaction, but for the most part it was one of those weird sets where you feel like you should be doing something other than just standing there, but don’t. At the time, being a band that just played fast hardcore with few mosh parts wasn’t “in”, so that might have played a roll in the awkwardness as well.
I don’t think I ever got another chance to see them again once I finally heard them recorded, but as I understand it they just played in Las Vegas with Suicidal Tendencies? So I guess maybe one day I’ll get another chance. Hopefully this time it won’t be 20 minutes of Craig screaming in my face while I stare at the floor.
