Cro-Mags – Best Wishes

Before you say anything, yeah I get it.

Best Wishes is not as good as Age of Quarrel. It’s too metal. The songs are too long. Too many guitar solos. Without John Joseph, it isn’t the Cro-Mags.
I’ve heard it all for years, hell decades, and still I think this album is better than 85% of the hardcore out there. Yeah I said it! “Death Camps” and “Crush The Demoniac” rocked my 19 year old world back in 1989.

Besides, I’ve got Alpha/Omega and Near Death Experience, you could do a whole lot worse than owning this one.

801williamm has your hook up for a pretty good looking copy of the album, modeled nicely on a funky white table.
The cover still has the shrink wrap on it, but I would be ripping that off pronto. Didn’t you hear it warps the cover if you leave it on after opening it? Jeez people, were you raised in a barn?

The seller doesn’t really state the condition of the record. The cover looks good but the insert looks a bit beat. Still, it might be worth a shot as it is sitting at $9.99 with no bids.

CRO MAGS Near Death Experience

Hey hardcore, this record sucks. I realize some of you want to sound cool and tell all your friends you like it, but it sucks. That said, I’m sure chainxcrew will get decent money for it from some poor soul.

I Against I Against I Againt I on clear

Ok, so you don’t like the Big Boys? Neither did these guys. They had that whole homophobia thing going for them. Hey it was the 80′s, the Cro Mags gay bashed people so why cant the Bad Brains. God + cocaine is a hell of a drug.
skull.and.bones is selling the rarely seen clear vinyl verison of I Against I. Decent opening bid, and not bad on the BIN if youre feeling frisky.

Stimulators LOUD FAST RULES!

Did this record drop off alot after Harley got into MMA or has nobody just found this one yet? I hope Im blowing up someones spot here. I dont really care for it myself and maybe neither does straightray since hes selling it. Shipping price is kind of wild for priority mail eh? The best part about this band is that it led to Harley discovering skinheads and quitting to start the Cro Mags.

Sealed AGE OF QUARREL coming your way

I’ve been in this position before. straightray has a sealed copy of Age Of Quarrel formerly belonging to Duane Some. I too have a sealed copy of Age Of Quarrel from Duane Some (acquired for less than the current bid on this one). Awesome that its sealed, not awesome because I don’t know if its censored or uncensored or even Run DMC labeled. Im not opening it to find out but if you can if you win this one.

Real men don’t eat pollywog stew

On to the B’s from robase

I have to admit, I’ve never been a huge fan of either of these records. However, I do appreciate their place in the pre-HARD era of NYHC, and I’m happy to own both of these platters. Interestingly, both bands have future members of the Cro-Mags… og Beasties singer John Berry was the first Cro-Mags vocalist, and I never noticed this till today but the Y&TU 7″ features a guest guitar spot by Gabby Abularach, who would later play on Alpha Omega (and is the brother of Marco from the Icemen).

Y&TU vocalist David Scilkin (RIP) would go on to become “trim coordinator” for the Beasties, which basically sounds like the coolest job ever.

Cro-Mags Best Wishes BUY IT NOOOW

pearlcat428 has a Buy It Now Cro-Mags Best Wishes LP for 25 bucks. This is a great pick-up for that price.  I got my copy of this record a few years ago for 30 bucks in store.  It seems that Ebay usually blows up prices, so this is a good price. My only word of advice would be to message the seller because they don’t have any feedback.  The other auctions that seller pearlcat428 has you can tell he’s legit, but still it’s worth a small message and asking what’s the deal wid it.

Age Of Cash Grabs

I remember hearing about this sketchy ass repress and thinking, hmmm ok remastered, bonus songs, expanded lauout.. this count be pretty cool. Then I got the thing and it was let down city. Poor choice of cover stock making the cover look washed out, the “expanded layout” was like 3 additional photos. And the remastered tracks were just the bootleg cd John Joseph had been selling for a while at shows. That combined with the $20 msrp on it just left a bad taste in my mouth. If you already own the original AOQ then theres no point to getting this, but if you dont then this copy from generationrecords with no bids and starting at $16 is for you.

My 2nd Favorite Cro-Mags record

I know that over the years there’s been this rogue faction of coremen that claim that this is their favorite Cro-Mags record. There’s a word for those dudes. Wrong. That’s really about it. Looks like donmannerism has a sweet copy of this up for sale. Check it. No bids yet, make it happen.

Say Cheese! Bad Brains Cro-Mags DRI Murphy’s Law promo pics

Seems like earwax666hotmail has quite a collection of 80′s and 90′s promo photos to unload. Everything from Slayer to MC Hammer. But these 2 lots might be more up your alley. I’ve had quite a few sweet promo photos in my collection, with grand plans to do something cool with them. I never do. I think that Cro-Mags one would look awesome in your office cubicle.

Murphy’s Law, DRI and the Skatenigs

Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, COC, and The Butthole Surfers

It’s a MAL AL AL AL … FUNCTION

Someone showed me this video earlier today. It made me want to cut my head off choke myself out punch my ear drums out scream obscenities until my face turned blue … say things that aren’t nice.

And here’s the thing. It’s got Mags backing. You’d think JJ would want to pass out some Hard Times, but that’s not how he feels. For a few obvious reasons.

From John Joseph (Cro-Mags):
“When I heard that Lavalette covered our song “Malfunction,” I was intrigued. When i heard it, I thought it was brilliant. The video is great and the way they re-did it made it catchy as hell. Great band live too. Mad props!”

From Mike Dijan (guitarist):
“I had just heard a very unique cover of Agnostic Front’s “Society Suckers” done by Walter Schreifels and thought it would be cool for Lavalette to do a hard song and put our own flare on it. The Cro-Mags have been a major musical inspiration in my life, and so it was a blast to do this version of an all-time classic.”

Supporting your boys, Mike Dijan, Larry Susi and Lou Medina is a good thing, but calling this song brilliant? Don’t know about that. It’s different, that’s for sure. Granted, I would probably support the Rebecca Haviland solo record. Sounds like something I could get into, but covering the Cro Mags with auto tuner? Ouch. Don’t get it.

Grab the real deal from silvia119. This one is censored. Just like my language above.

For the Cro-Mags fan who has everything

I can’t tell if luvthatfunctionalart is making these, or if they’re actual vintage items, but I get a pretty good chuckle out of them either way.

I mean really, is any Cro-Mags collection complete without these? I’m contemplating grabbing one to file next to my vintage DRI and SSD picks. If only I had a Rich Bich to shred with these things!

Lots more lots

deepfocus88 (who, iirc, was in Wide Awake) has several nice lots up, and here are a couple of highlights…

Oddly, there’s also a Token Entry Jaybird LP in here, but he chose not to include a photo. Oh well. 5-for-5 on this one, all classics.

Here’s a great little youth crew/sxe instant collection starter. Not 100% killer like the top lot — couple of my favorite records ever in here (BDTW and Trial) and a couple of stinkers (I won’t mention names since the last time I did I got verbally assaulted by the guitar player).

Iceburn & Seemless

In order to make up for my earlier Iceburn snafu, I present the Seemless LP on clear wax. This enough to get any diehard Iceburn fans heart boiling. Straight out of 1996. Anyone have any idea on the actual pressing count? The rev page is sadly missing numbers on this one. Go ahead and grab this one from 1939yanks as it ends in less than a day.**

** See what I did there? Instead of buying this Into Another LP, I suggest you buy the ;Cro-Mags Best Wishes LP. You tell me which one sounds better.
