Dropdead & Crossed Out & Desecration… Oh My!

Here is a cool 3 7″ box set from batfuk, who has a lot of cool auctions you should check out.

This is the West Coast Power Violence and More box set. Its a 3 x 7″ set with records from Dropdead, Crossed Out & Desecration. The auction description doesn’t give much info, but I have this so here is the low down…

The Crossed Out tracks are taken from the split 7″ with Dropdead, the split 7″ with Man Is The Bastard on Slap A Ham Records, their s/t 7″ on Slap A Ham Records, and their tracks from the Son Of Bllleeeaaauurrgghhh compilation on Slap A Ham Records.

Dropdead’s tracks were recorded live at WFMU Radio on 8/8/93.

The Desecration tracks are taken from The North Atlantic Noise Attack compilation on Manic Ears Records, Who’s In Control EP on TPC Records, the Metal Gives Us A Headache compilation on Hippycore Records, and their split LP with Subverse on Manic Ears Records.

The whole package was limited to only 200 copies!

Ham Slappin’ Hits

Slap-A-Ham Records head honcho Chris Dodge, aka ponty, has been selling off these “extra” copies of his releases for the better part of 10 years now, it makes you wonder if he ever even distributed them in the first place.

Anyways, the Crossed Out/Man Is the Bastard split 7″ is pretty much the pinnacle of powerviolence as far as I’m concerned, and the rest of these ain’t too shabby either. Blank label guy down there at the bottom is a test press of the Despise You/Suppression split.

5 Inches of Crust!

neatneatneatrecords is selling one of my favorite crusty/hardcore records. I just feel like it doesnt get any better than a split between DROPDEAD and CROSSED OUT on 5 inch vinyl! I think one of the only things left for Dropdead to try is putting out a 13 inch record!

The Motherlode.

I wonder if oftimespast is the account for that record store in RI Josh is always talking about… if it is, and if their auctions are any indication of what they have, then a road trip is in order… even if it’s an entirely different store, a road trip is in order… I mean just look at what’s up for sale here:

(That’s right, there are two up for sale!)

Seriously. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF. We’re talking multiple records from bands like 7 Seconds, Chain of Strength, Wide Awake, Swiz, Quicksand… I could go on forever.

I seriously have to force myself to stop. Go check out the rest of his records, I can almost guarantee you find something you want to bid on.

West Coast Power Violence

Slap-A-Ham head honcho Chris Dodge is digging into the vaults again, which makes you wonder how much of this stuff he actually sold in the first place ;) . No wonder these records were always so hard to get.

1. Crossed Out discography lp on white – some people say they are the #1 PV band of all time, I may be inclined to agree on certain days, but on other days I prefer No Comment. This LP collects all of their vinyl output (first 7″, split w/ Man Is The Bastard, split w/ Drop Dead) and some other odds n sods. I believe only 300 came on white, I’m still kicking myself for not buying a $15 sealed copy at Vinyl Solution in CA back in 2002.

2. Couple o’ Capitalist Casualties 7″s – Raised Ignorant and Dope & War. These are their 2nd and 3rd singles, respectively. I was listening to the split LP with MITB the other day (scored for $7 a couple months ago, so ILL) and was thinking how fucking shredding this band is and how much they are unfairly overshadowed by their peers (Crossed Out, Infest, MITB, etc). I wasn’t too into the later stuff with Max from Spazz on drums, but everything they released up to that point is top shelf PV material.

Negative Approach and Necros and Crossed Out and…

Seller djprana2003 has had some awesome stuff up for nearly a week, yet somehow we’ve slept on all of it. What’s up with that? How do we miss a guy selling stuff like this:

Sure, we’ve had first presses of this up before. But to me, it never gets old, and you know there’s always somebody looking for one.

Or what about this?

Before anyone mentions it, yes, that IS a first press label with a third press insert, and while that may seem fishy, according to the comments here, that type of mismatch is relatively common. The Sex Drive he has up is a boot, however.

And what about these?

I could keep going. And that’s not even mentioning the Oasis and Ice Cube records…

My excuse for slacking? Hardcore Fests. They really do screw up your concept of time and reality.

FUCK GRINDCORE!

doomtown412 has a bunch of cassettes and a few LPs for sale including one of my favorites from Slap-A-Ham.

Crossed Out only played 16 shows and released a demo, a 7″, 2 splits and were on one comp. You can get it all in one spot with the 1990-1993 LP! My favorite Crossed Out stuff is from the Dropdead split, but its all great!

5 Inches of Crust!

rlyehtechnologies has zero feedback so bid with caution and maybe get a deal!

DropDead & Crossed Out 5″ split. I love this record because its so small it looks fake! I actually just got a copy of this a few months ago when Ben from Armageddon Shop was clearing out his archives of DropDead vinyl and I’m glad to finally have it! As much as I love DropDead the Crossed Out stuff on this record is amazing too!!

CROSSED OUT 7″ original

First off, this seller has a GREAT user name. Diehard metalheads do NOT fuck around.

Another best-in-genre release here, Crossed Out’s debut 7″ on Slap-A-Ham from 1991. One of the original “power violence” bands—as christened by Man Is The Bastard—these guys originally set out to form a band that sounded like “Siege meets the Shitlickers,” which is a pretty good summation of CO’s sound when you think of the Shitlickers’ lack of fidelity coupled with Siege’s extreme speed. A friend of mine hung out with these guys back in the day and said all they wanted to do was smoke weed and play Sega Genesis, aka living the good life.

1000 made of the original press, all on black vinyl with really big dead vinyl gaps between each song. Six test presses exist on solid purple vinyl, 2–3 of which have come up on ebay in the past few years (and one of which I now own.) Nice opening price on this copy, but who knows where it’s going to end.

Funny side note: check out what singer Dallas VanKempen is up to these days
