From Ashes Rise out of TPT

Ill admit, I never really got into From Ashes Rise. I saw them before once or twice when they were around and couldnt tell you anything about their sets. I was probably annoyed by all the squatters or the fact that there were dogs hanging out inside a show. They played This Is Hardcore this year and completely killed it though. I consider myself a won over fan. Poser? Maybe. This weeks favorite seller fate_just_missed has up the test pressings for their first two LPs. Both on Feral Ward Records (despite one saying Witch Hunt, that was a short lived name for Feral Ward). Still cheap with a few days to go and well worth it.

FRAMTID – Under The Ashes LP

If you asked me what my favorite record of the ’00′s was, I’d probably say this guy right here. I remember getting this from a friend of mine’s mailorder (2002 I think?) and being completely blown away by it. Twelve tracks of absolutely punishing hardcore with huge wall-of-noize production and one of the best current hardcore drummers I can think of. One of my major musical disappointments of the past 10 years was these guys getting denied visas to come to the USA, but hopefully they’ll make it over at some point or I’ll make it over to Japan (hello Jaybil.)

Original pressing here on Crust War, I think there were only 1000 made on heavy wax with heavy cover (to add to the overall heaviness of this beast.) There’s a USA pressing on Blackwater that has a cool screened cover, but IMO this version is sounds so ridiculously loud that there’s no room for another pressing in my collection.

8 inches of crust

1993 split 8″ record from DROPDEAD and RUPTURE. This is the firwst press black vinyl limited to 600 (there were also 400 on clear splattered vinyl).

This is a great record aside from the novelty of being an 8″. 24 tracks of amazing crusty grind core. A++

Crusties love their off size records…

I love Dropdead for lots of reasons, one of which is because they have released a 5″, a 7″ an 8″ and an 11″ in addition to a 12″ that plays from the inside out and an LP with a lockgroove in the middle… Genius!

This is the original Clearview Records pressing of the ‘Discography’ 11″ on orange vinyl limited to only 500 copies complete with the newsprint insert.
