Rare DC classic for Test Press Thursday

krvitz brings us an underrated 80′s DC punk / hardcore single here, the Black Market Baby “Potential Suicide” b/w “Youth Crimes 7″. The price puts it up in the heavy hitter category, but they are taking offers. Maybe you could tell em that some of the copies came with a cool pre-release cover, and perhaps knock it down in price some.

Flex Your Head Around This!

Seller flxyrhd201 hit us up on twitter the other day. Seems like he needs us to pay for his trip to This Is Hardcore. I can understand that. But hwat I can’t understand is, how is any of our money going to get to him in time for the gig. Sure, the auctions are only for 5 days, but the gig starts, officially, on Thursday night. Friday night if your from really far out of town. His auctions, as of now, have just under 3.5 days to go. That means, these items won’t end until some point Friday night. Probably around dinner time in Philly. Not sure how these funds will help him them. Unless some geniuses invent a Paypal/ATM booth …

Can not kill the family, Battery is found in me!

We’ve all heard that Lost & Found Records does A LOT of test presses for each release they put out, but there are some I’ve been looking for and have never even seen one for sale. My suggestion is that if you see a record thats even possibly limited and you really ‘need’ it for your collection, dont sleep on it! I’ve still kicking myself for not buying the acetates of the Last Rights recordings.

Lost & Found claims there were only 10 copies of the test for this Battery record, but who knows!

East Coast Fuck You

sugarshackvinyl has a couple of classic east coast hardcore records. A few years ago I had an H2O sticker that a big X with the letters E C F U in each section. Under the X it said EAST COAST FUCK U. It was something I didnt really get, but I think that these 2 records cemented the dominate power of East Coast Hardcore pretty early on…

The Stimulators – Loud Fast Rules… Harley Flanagan from 1979!!

Government Issue – Legless Bull… 1981 debut, Dischord # 4!!

Sick of things the way they are…

People have very interesting opinions when it comes to rating the classics. Seller scottx2 apparently doesn’t think highly enough of this one to keep it in his collection, but if I had the loot, it would most definitely have a spot in mine. As far as Dischord singles, nothing can touch Minor Threat based on sentimental value, but if I had to rate this on a purely “stepping back and trying to be analytical” I would almost dare to say this rivals the In My Eyes 7″. There is a sense of urgency and adrenaline that hits with this record that fits in perfectly with the other stone cold classics that the label was releasing.

After a bass line that wobbles in, it’s that sense of raw, unfiltered power that you feel when everything else kicks in on the first track of the Possible EP makes you realize this isn’t punk as defined by jackets and studs. It’s anger and emotion played by kids trying to make their own definitions. I had a recent conversation with someone who got into hardcore/punk in the early 80′s, but who had not been there for the very beginnings. He talked about how the start, where everything, every new record, show, idea, flyer, zine, whatever… was and is what is still so amazing. I file this record under that very rare and exclusive club of first generation hardcore, and why when I hear it today I still feel as stupefied as the first time I heard it.

ARTIFICIAL PEACE/EXILED split 7″ test press

This is one of those records I always wanted, and when I finally got it I was a little let down. I had an Artificial Peace demo ep on Lost & Found that was a real scorcher, so my hopes for this split were high… but it just didn’t live up to their demo material.

Personal lament aside, this is a nice little piece for the harDCore collector — Fountain Of Youth Records #1, the first and only proper (ie, not comp) vinyl release for both bands, etc etc. It’s going cheap too (still at $9.99 as I write this) so bid away.

Also, I heard Dischord is doing a legit AP release soon. I’m pretty excited or that one!

Jah… Rastafari!

A lot of people really hated ‘Build a Nation’ … I’ll admit that it didnt live up to the hype or the years of waiting, but I like it. I’m also a sucker for cool colored vinyl and I really like the tri-color LP version a lot.

First we have Bad Brains ‘Build a Nation’ LP as a four 7″ set. Just like you would expect there is a RED vinyl, a YELLOW vinyl and a GREEN vinyl and the fourth 7″ is a picture disc verion with the cover art on it.

Second we have the ‘Build a Nation’ 12″ LP on tri-color vinyl… once again the classic Bad Brains RED, YELLOW & GREEN!

XXX harDCore XXX

Here we have a Third and a fourth pressing of the most important record in Straight Edge history, Dischord Records #3. This is pretty much where it all started and like all great things it has been immitated, but has never been duplicated!

- GREEN sleeve is the 3rd pressing and is of only 1000 pressed

- BLUE sleeve is the 4th (and final) pressing and is of 2000 pressed
(this one is complete with the lyric sheet)

and speaking of Minor Threat… Greatness and Duplication…. This is a friend of mines tattoo, the same guy with the Judge ‘Im Tired’ tattoo. It has made many many lists of ‘the worst tattoo ever’ and was even duplicated by someone that clearly did not get the joke at all!

Bad Brains Test Press

There has to be a ton of these things floating around. Ive seen it on ebay before. Hell even I own one. I bought it because I wanted to own at least one Bad Brains test press. Obv Im not gonna find a test of pay to cum so this will do.

Rev Collection – Battery

Another for the Rev Collector – Battery’s 3rd lp
