MM: Sarcofago – Rotting

Seller do.not.trust.the.media! has got Sarcofago’s “Rotting” 9 Song Release on Under One Flag up for grabs. I’ve got my eye on one metal platter that is ending tonight, so I wanted to post something that other posters would care about (and not bid on what I want). This Brazilian band put out the cult classic “INRI” but this release is something worth having in your record shelves.

While looking at the metallum for this band I stumbled across the picture of the singer Wagner Antichrist who sang for Sepultura for a period of time. Next to the picture on the entry it told me what Wanger Antichrist is up to. “Nowadays Wanger is a Ph.D. in Economics and works as a professor at a respected university in Brazil.”

Professor Antichrist, just wanted to let you know I loved INRI!

Metal Monday: Deicide – s/t lp

Glen Benton doesn’t seem to like god much. This tool went so far as branding an upside down crucifix into his forehead. I have to think that is a career limiting move. Good luck to him at that next job interview. Lucky for Benton he has been doing the Deicide thing for over 20 years now. He seems to be able to scrape enough together to keep recording, touring and sacrificing small kittens. As much as I dislike the idiot, Deicide really had death metal nailed down in the early 90′s with their first couple albums.

The first self titled album that el_august has up for auction here is by far their best. Every copy I have ever seen looks like it’s been through hell (haha), so this one looks to be a good bet if you are in need of a first press in good shape.

Metal Monday: Let’s play the gross out game!

Hey, remember when death metal/grindcore was all the rage for about 20 minutes back in the late 80′s? Man, did I ever love Earache Records. Everything was about being more extreme than the next guy. When bands couldn’t go any further musically, imagery and artwork went over the top. Between Cannibal Corpse song titles and Carcass cover art, the gross out meter was turned up to 11.

Personally, I always thought Carcass “won” the extreme game with their first two albums, “Symphonies of Sickness” and this one “Reek of Putrefaction”. Musically, it didn’t get more ridiculous as it was barely audible. They also took cookie monster vocals to another level. Oh and the cover art? Holy fuck.

rnikkels67 has an original, unedited, first pressing of the “Reek of Putrefaction” album on Earache Records. This one features cover art showing a nice montage of body parts. Mainly heads.

Later pressings would change the artwork for what I can only guess was exposure to a larger audience and to get their records in more stores. I don’t know. I can’t see anyone picking up this album in Walmart on a whim.

I read later that Carcass were in fact staunch vegans and that the reason for their disgusting album covers was to expose the brutality of meat eating. Yeah, I don’t know about that. That doesn’t seem very metal.

Robotic Village

Oh man, bluecityboy1969 has one of my top wants here, one of my favorite records by one of my favorite metal bands! Sadly I know I’m not gonna be able to afford it right now so I hope someone else buys it and appreciates it. The best Deceased record, “13 Frightened Souls” on Relapse, green vinyl. Their recent stuff is solid, no doubt but this was the shit, can’t be matched. The perfect mix of death and thrash. Have this on cassette, love it. The only thing is I wish it had more crucial over art but who cares. Everything else about this record is perfect, and I don’t even wish it was longer (technically it’s an EP). Fast and hard, like an executioner’s axe blade, you don’t need more.

Vitally Remaining Test Press!

I’m a big fan of Vital Remains and have been for a long time. I remember seeing them with bands like Phlegm, Ritual Sacrafice, Skinned Alive and Are We Dead Yet?! back in the day at Club Baby Head. That was long before they had Glen Benton from Deicide singing for them, but they were still great!

All that being said I dont know exactly what this test press is of and since its made in France and sold from the UK I’m not really sure if its legit or not. Maybe you enjoy Vital Remains also and you are more aware of their catalog then I am. If so then comment this post or just buy the record and let us know!

dosjamons has lots of other stuff for sale so if you’re not in the UK then check the other auctions and combine your shipping charges!

Metal Monday: Death In Action

When Earth Crisis and many other metallic hardcore bands were just getting started, there was a straight up death thrash band from West Germany called Death In Action that had lyrics about animal rights, the environment and against vivisection. Here is their second LP, “Just For Our Sake”, from 1990. I have it and I think it’s great. Homie is also sporting a Misfits tee on the metal as fuck group shot on the back.

silothgreen has it here for a BIN of $20, although he’s in Europe.

Mortem – Amputator Russian death metal 1993

For this Metal Monday, I’d like to post this LP from Mortem. They were a band from Russia in the early 1990′s, (this LP came out in ’93) and played totally blurry as fuck death metal in the vein of early Cannibal Corpse with touches of Morbid Angel. I used to do a blog dedicated to old Soviet and Russian metal, but that project kind of lost novelty as more and more information became available about early Russian metal on the internet thanks to other, more informative sites.

Don’t get spooked by the fact that skullcrusher2603 is in Russia and charge appropriate shipping, and he probably paid $5 for this LP. BUT you just won’t find this stuff easily in North America unless you raid my house, but if you tried that, I’d stab you.

Jokes, jokes.

\\\Get your gut wrenched///

Fuck metal Monday, this week I’ve been listening to so much metal, it’s metal every damn day! Up until very recently this was one of my top metal wants, and I finally have it and now you can too! Check it out. The first Deceased EP, and one of the very first Relapse releases too! Deceased have been around since ~1986 and are one of my favorite deathly thrash metal bands (This early material is more straight up blurry death but their later albums are a little more varied). They have a lot of material out, some of which I will be posting for metal Mondays to come, so keep checking back.

Now gildangrunt (what’s a gilda?) has what seems like an OK copy here, it’s not the limited red vinyl and it’s not perfect but keep in mind this doesn’t show up often, at least I haven’t been seeing it that often and I’ve been looking for it off and on.

Death Metal From The Grave!

(This is the version of Gutwrench from the ‘Luck of The Corpse’ LP, but you get the idea).
