Slugfest vs Despair

I’m sure everyone on here has an opinion on what the best Vogel band is. Mine is Despair. Or at least, today it is. No doubt if I played Buried Alive or Slugfest later my opinion might change. Anyway, if you’re with me on Despair then sodapopgatts might make your day with this one – a gold vinyl copy of the ‘Kill’ 7″ released by Initial Records in the late 90s. This particular copy is a nice low number too, if you’re into that kind of thing. Number 6 of 100.

Or if Slugfest is your thing then perhaps you’d rather pick up this one – the ‘Slugfest Live’ 7″ that was also released by Initial Records, and also numbered out of 100 copies.

As I type this, both of these 7″s are sat at $1.99 with no bids. Perhaps the seller’s low feedback rating will help you score a bargain?

Buried Alive Six Month Face test press

Got another one here from module-media. Now I know that today is Friday, and not a day that begins with a T, so I can’t make this a ““Test Press”” day, but screw it. Do you know Buried Alive? Post Despair, pre Terror? Yeah, that means Scott Vogel. Listening to this, it’s kinda weird thinking about how long ago it came out, and how there are tons of bands around now trying to do this and not coming close to what these dudes from Buffalo were doing in the late 90′s. I think it was at the first Krazy Fest in 1998 when this band had its “coming out party” so to speak. They only had their demo tape out, and all everyone knew was this was the “new band from the dudes from Despair.” Saying that in 2011 will make most kids think, “Uh… who?” but at the time, that was a big deal. They played early in the day on Saturday, and the place just erupted. And I am just shocked that I can’t find a single video online. Man, this post is just going to peter off now…

Vogel: Factor Of Tens

I’m not going to lie. I’m pretty damn psyched for Keepers Of The Faith to drop. Maybe I’m caught up in the hype. This could be, but something about Terror dropping ~~an album~~ this LP on Reaper Records has me stoked. Pre-orders and bundles are already available. This could be the second time in 4 years I’ve pre-ordered something. And potentially the first non-Bane item in the last 8-10 years I’ve pre-ordered**. But for those of you impatient, you can always go into the Scott Vogel back catalog for hits. Courtesy of module-media and bperecords, they have records for every price point. In factors of 10s.

Despair or Buried Alive? For me, it’s all about Buried Alive. Crushing mosh. Just absolutely sick. Gotta hand it to Despair though. Cushman had this EP, and we’d listen to it A LOT back in the day. Tough choice.
