Last Sunday I was spinning some 45′s at a record fair in Brooklyn, and after throwing on Neon Knights by Black Sabbath, someone* came up and asked me if I was playing the song as a tribute to Dio. Well of course, every time you play that shit it’s a tribute to the man. Then he showed me his cell phone and there were like 10 text messages in a row saying that Dio had just died. My heart kinda sank a little and then I got yelled at for playing Motorhead too loud so I handed over the wheels of steel to the next guy and took a walk down the street to grab some empanadas. There was a band playing the street fair outside that consisted solely of a drummer and a tuba player and the song they were playing sounded like Holy In The Sky by Sabbath. Weird.
Anyways here’s a Vertigo (UK) test pressing of Heaven and Hell, arguably one of the finest moments in metal history. Signed by Dio, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, so you can’t go wrong. I have a regular copy signed by Dio, Geezer and Bill Ward, so if someone can arrange for Tony to come to by house to sign it, I would appreciate it.
