This life is just a game

I love this comp. The problem is most of the time it takes me like 5 tries to get past the first song because I keep rewinding to the beginning when its over. dolo74 is selling the double LP version of this famous tape cassette compilation.

Sonnenheim

A dude who owns two Chung King records once sent me a link to a band and said I should check them out. That band was Of the Wand and the Moon.

I’m on a bit of a double LP kick apparently, after my earlier post I thought I would see what else was out there. The great thing about this record is that it features 5 tracks that aren’t on the CD. Five tracks that are awesome. And collectible. Limited to 500.

Grow old, walk into the forest, and die

One of the first stories I ever heard about Burzum was that their singer, Varg Vikernes, killed the singer of a rival band. One of the next stories I heard was his theory on old people. He thought old people should just walk out into the forest and die. That way they wouldn’t be a burden on the system or on younger people. Don’t you want to collect their records now?

What better record to start with than a black and blue etched double LP? This is an incredibly rare first press of the 1996 release on MISANTHROPY RECORDS.

You may never see this record for sale again.

NEVER GIVE IN!

I’m a big fan of cover songs and tribute records and I remember when I found out about this one I was really excited, but once I got it I was a little let down. Theres a few good versions of songs on it, but nothing that really grabbed me. Its still a cool record and its pretty funny to see Bad Brains colored vinyl thats not red, yellow or green.

batfuk doesnt list the tracks, but I know that it includes Moby, Ignite, Downset, Shai Hulud, Boy Sets Fire, Cave In and a few other bands. Ever hear No Doubts version of Sailin’ On?

Test Press Thursday?!

Well, we were promised Floorpunch rarities from a legitimate source (that being Porter), and once again, that promise has been lived up to…

If only xbestoneyetx had gotten this up a day or two sooner; this could have been the cornerstone of this weeks Test Press Tuesday. Fortunately, today is Thursday, so we can still go with the fancy title. This one is a test of the double lp FP discography our friends at Six Feet Under Record recently released. Out of /16. Bust!

Converge – Jane Doe

Love em or hate me, Converge is one of those bands that seemed to forever change hardcore — your choice on whether that’s good or bad. Their impression on the scene is palpable. Like Youth Of Today or American Nightmare, their ripple has been felt. It doesn’t hurt that they are still going strong nearly 20 years later, dropping intense release after crushing release. What buckywunderlick is selling here is two copies of the double LP Jane Doe repress. Very slick looking. If you don’t like color vinyl, you can always skip over to Deathwish Inc and grab it on black. But seriously, if you don’t like color vinyl, you might be reading the wrong blog …

Must be that olde Muskrat Love…

bleebalien has a live Black Flag bootleg that I’m not familiar with. The LP is called ‘Muskrat Love’ and its live from the Jockey Club in Kentucky on April 30th, 1986 which was only about 2 months before they broke up for good. After a little digging around I found that the LP came out in 1993.

Its a double LP with blank labels and what looks like red and black printed artwork glued on a white LP sleeve. One thing I’m a little confused about is the shape of the Bars logo up on the top right of the sleeve. It doesnt apear to be in the shape of Kentucky so I’m not sure I get it or what it is. Another kind of odd thing is that there is what I’m pretty sure is a Matt Groening ‘Life is Hell’ rabbit character randomly placed in back cover artwork. Odd!

17 tracks…

Kid Dynamite Double LP.

It didn’t surprise me all that much to see that seller thehumanheart was from Philly, as several of his auctions were sold only at some recent Philly shows. Case in point, this Kid Dynamite double lp from This Is Hardcore.

They were really good at TIHC, and I have to say, despite literally having not even thought about listening to either record in the past 5-7 years, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I remembered pretty much every single word. That’s a sure sign of some catchy song writing at work.

I’m Back…

Unfortunantly I took most of August off from posting here, but the Noize Crew is more than strong, capable & large enough to get by without me. Either way I’m back and ready to get back into the thick of things!

I spent about 14 hours last Sunday in Revere, MA at Club Lido for the Gallery East Reunion Show which was FULL of high points and had very few low points.

One thing that could be either a high point or a low point depending how you want to look at it was when Chris Doherty puked on the stage. It wasnt a full on heaving vomit, but it was still something. Another personal high point (as silly as it is) was just hanging out backstage watching, once again, Chris Doherty pumping a keg and getting really pissed that it was so foamy. And now with that I bring you 2 GangGreen records that I have never seen in person….

1. Taang! Records #1 the ‘Sold Out’ 7″ on clear vinyl with the clear acetate sleeve limited and numbered to only 100 copies!

2. a Roadrunner Records re-release of ‘You Got It’ and ‘Older… Budweiser’ as a double LP.

Two cool records at both ends of the price spectum depending how deep your pockets are!

Demon, Starchild, Space Ace & The Cat

Kiss ‘Alive II’ was the first record that I ever owned. I can totally remember opening it for Christmas day sometime in the late 70′s. The gatefold that opens to a huge picture of the stage with the giant fireballs and the huge platforms and the 4 pictures on the back are burned into my mind forever! I remember my mom offering to put one of the temporary tattoos on me before we went to dinner at my grandmothers, but somehow I resisted and I STILL have the merch order form, the book and the tattoos neatly tucked away in my original copy of this LP.

If you’re not a Kiss fan theres no convincing you what a great album this is, and if you are a Kiss fan you already know! Its a great live show spread over 3 sides of the double LP and 5 awesome stuido tracks that (to the best of my knowledge) never apeared anywhere else!

This copy is complete just like mine, but it looks like its in much better shape overall and it ends soon!
