Late night lot for emo Monday

Though I wouldn’t really call this an “emo” lot, it’s got some in there, along with some screamo, and that just… I dunno… whatever you want to call that stuff Dischord was doing in the 90′s. Just call it music. Whatever. Also, some regular 90′s hardcore too… just check the pic! Another interesting listing from malaika279 with not too too much time left.  Get in on it, maybe you can scoop for just a buck a record?

Fugazi, Groundwork, Gyga, 90 Day Shake Ray Turbine, Born Against, Julia, Zeni Geva (Comic Book Book & Record set), The Metroschifter, Keleton DMD, Not for the Lack of trying, The Trans Megetti, Merel, Lync, WIG, Monster X, Aloha, Cyclops, Neanderthal, Sleepy Time Trio, Chino Horde, Armstrongs Secret Mine, Golden, ….and more!

Lots and lots on Emo Monday

I’d like to thank malaika279 for making this one easy for me. Two nice sized, nicely priced emo / screamo lots.

Impetus, 90 Day Men, Subjugation, Small Brown Bike, Shotmaker, Quixote, the Trans Megetti, Geoff Farina, Don Caballero, William Martyr 17, The Crown Hate Ruin, Current, Wallside, Born Dead Icons, Anasarca, Still Life, Jihad, Symptom of Isaac, The Man I Fell in Love With, Ordination of Aaron, Jonah, Gondolier, Pasta Madonna, Mohinder, Grain, The Van Pelt, Wallside, Rye and the Coaltion, Channel, Ivich jasmine, Reach out, Second Story Window, Antioch Arrow, Chavez, Pierman Paladin Train, Nuzzle, Boy’s Life, Admiral, Current, Chino Horde, Melt Banana, Hamilton, Godheadsilo, Eucalyptus, Locust, Native Nod…and more!

I like the “and more” part. I wonder if it’s cause at this point the name of the artist is hard to decipher off of the screened paper bags and mailing envelopes…

Indian Summer / Current split for Emo Monday

Because EMOnday doesn’t really work…

Classic 90′s emo 7″ here, with it’s DIY cover, hand done, and screened plastic sleeve. The Indian Summer song here, Orchard, is one of my person favorites. Granted, it’s no “Angry Son” (their obvious hit single) but it’s still good as hell. The Current song is awesome too. I think Current’s been overlooked a little in the emo / screamo revival, which is too bad, their records were always pretty listenable* – decently recorded, and not too screechy – and have held up well over the years.

Another good one here from earwax666hotmail that ends pretty soon. Get in while the getting is good.

Raein on my parade

I thought this band was French, but it’s actually an Italian band that titled their album in French and apparently made a grammar mistake. Maybe screamo bands from all different countries try to be French just like crust/grind/raw punk bands try to be Swedish and Brazilian? Anyway, check out this Raein LP I am selling. I don’t know a lot about it, but researching other auctions, this seems to be an original pressing, the label is React With Protest, it has the nice little lyric booklet too.  If you just got into Touche Amore and think you like screamo and don’t have this you should consider this purchase, sirs and madams.

Still Life 8 inch for test press Thursday

The Still Life 2 x LP “From Angry Heads with Skyward Eyes” (which is still available direct from Ebullition for $6) is still in pretty regular rotation in my iTunes. It is definitely a 90′s emo classic.  If I am being honest, this 8″ isn’t near as good as the 2 x LP.  Not even close.  But hey, as hardcore.temptation puts it, “Never released as-is. It was remastered, then released.” Which would make this super duper wicked rare.

A lil tidbit from the Ebullition site…

Still Life was once known as Monster Club. Believe it or not the singer of Strife was the singer for Monster Club. When he left the band they changed their name to Still Life. Many of the original Monster Club songs became Still Life songs.

Heroin is not for edge day

I saw these two Heroin 7″s for sale from drstrang3love559 yesterday and wanted to do an ironic post for Edge Day, but ended up getting all wrapped up in those Champion and Modern Life Is War posts, and it slipped my mind.  These are the first 2 Heroin 7″s, the 2nd one down there being the infamous “paper bag” 7″, which, if you can’t tell from the photo, is packaged in a hand screened paper shopping bag. It’s like some weird old timer story, “Back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy record covers, we only had paper bags, and we made the best of it!”  Oh the 90′s, you were so silly.  For real though, these two records are awesome.  They’ve stood the test of time for sure, which makes sense, considering how influential this band ended up becoming.

Rainy day house for sale or something equally as clever

I really like the first two Sunny Day Real Estate LPs. I think it’s safe to assume that Mineral loved those first two records a little more than I did though, as they got a couple records that are close to photocopies of them. If you ask me, there’s nothing wrong with that at all. SDRE was a great band, and deserved the flattery of imitation. Mineral remind me a lot of a quote an old friend of mine said about the band Gene when asked if they were a fan, “Of course I am, I always wanted to hear the next Smiths record.” I always just take the two Mineral LPs at face value and don’t analyze or get pissy that they “ripped off” SDRE. Hell, SDRE kinda lost me after the Pink record anyway. So now, as far as I am concerned, I have 4 Sunny Day Real Estate records that I like, instead of just two! And though muttisschwarzerdaumennagel might be in Germany, I wouldn’t let it disuade US buyers, as this record tends to sell for about $80 – $100 as a BIN, so perhaps you can get in with a low bid, and still make a good deal even with foreign shipping costs.

WTF is a Saetia? Is it like a Touche Amore?

I really like module-media’s honest description of this record.  I sold a copy of this record recently, and I felt the same way. I had to call up some emo experts to get some info so my auction didn’t look like this…

This auction is for a copy of Saetia’s “S/T” 7″ on ??? Records.
This copy is on BLACK VINYL and I would assume like all other Saetia releases, is limited. I have to be honest, I know close to nothing about this band and this record.

But it is hard to find info on these records.  Fans are secretive, and get mad at you really easy.  Their message boards aren’t as open and inviting as the B9…  lolz.  Anyway.  This is the first Saetia 7″ that is either referred to as self titled, or  Venus and Bacchus b/w One Dying Wish and was released on Level Plane.  I think there were 1000 total pressed, but there are a few different covers out there.  I think that if Zak went back and added some other current heavy emo hitters to the title, it might get some more fire, maybe toss a Touche Amore in there, or a La Dispute, or even just screamo (get the fuck outta here with that skrams bullshit son)  Boom, you are on your way to hitsville.

Damn son, you left the words TEST PRESS off your Touche Amore auction

Words of advice xhanxsolox, when you are selling a test press, it’s best to label that shit as a test press, otherwise dudes might miss it out on the action. Just like I did with this record, catching it with only 1 day left to go! Just gonna hurry and get this up here, so y’all can bid hard and what not. Touche Amore, so hot right now.  This is their first 7″ / 2008 demo on the nu-emo powerhouse label No Sleep.

The Promise Ring EPs

When I think about 1997, I think about The Promise Ring.

No, I never saw them live. No, I probably never drove long nights listening to them.

BUT.

I think I spent hours in my room listening to these albums. It was a very time and place band for me. Nothing Feels Good got constant play in my dorm room. Must have been good for those melancholy afternoons.

Maybe I’m not missing much on the live show front. That’s fine by me. I’ve got Kitty Pryde, and Nightcrawler too … yeah, I mixed bands. You know what I’m saying.
