Bane – Give Blood 10th Anniversary

You know I’m psyched about this Bane LP repress. When Sam first told me about it, I was AMPED. No doubt. Give Blood is a staple in my household. One banging track after another. And Pete did a great job with the original lineup. Lots of solid pictures, looks sharp. Sam told me about his ideas for the 10th anniversary pressing, and it blew my mind. He was going crazy. He was talking embossed, gatefold, giant insert, … Crazy talk, right? Guess not, because that’s what he is releasing. Amazing. I highly suggest you preorder it right now!!

As for the original pressing, it’s wildly missing from ebay. I figured when the repress was announced, kids would start cashing in. Not the case. Weird. You’ll have to “settle” for the Free To Think, Free To Be EP. Limited to 300, hand numbered. First press. Grab it from books_vinylnmor.

You Are Freaking Me Out

Here’s a cool Samiam package. I love when bands do something slightly different. This was an LP release that actually came in a 4 EP boxset. Released in 1998 and limited to 1000 packages, each numbered. Sounds like a lot, but then again, Samiam is a little bigger than the average core band. This one was supposed to release on Atlantic … that is, until Atlantic dropped Samiam. Ouch. Glad it was released eventually though. You can grab this one from hc-larsen.

Decembertest

I hate this band… and I know they are popular with a lot of people, but does anyone that likes them give a shit about an LP test pressing? I have a friend that likes them a lot and I just don’t get it. He used to be into Hatebreed, Gwar, Pantera, White Zombie and a bunch of other decent metal and now its like he’s a ‘grown up’ and likes these guys…. blecchhh!

irelon has more bullshit from the Decemberists too so if you are inclined or you just like grown up music then check them out.

Bane – Free To LOL, Free To Scoop

Free To Think, Free To Be is one of my favorite EPs from the 90s. It’s awesome, I’m a big fan (and you know this, man!). But what we are looking at here is befuddling. Both of the EPs from agrarerecords and xsepticedgex are second press. Both are black vinyl. One is number 80/200, the other is numbered 120/200. The puzzling part is this: one has a BIN of $101. The other has a BIN of $30. One BIN is outrageously high, the other BIN is so low I feel stupid for not getting a clean double. Weird. You see, the difference between scoop and LOL, well, it’s a thousand miles wide …

Update: Does agrarerecords read this site? He relisted his auction with a more reasonable BIN.

Harder They Fall!!

THE HARDER THEY FALL!! Fuck. Moshing.

Grab this ep release from in_vinyl_we_trust. It was repressed a few years back by Crime Scene Records. Limited to 150. Integrity … sooooo good. Some potatoes up in there.

Un-Lover And Weeded Out

Any guess which member of Converge is being referred to as an “un-lover” by xundergroundx? My guess would be either Kurt or Nate … **

** I kid, I kid. Great EP set. You should probably pick it up.

Make sure to grab some Doomriders and Converge gear from Deathwish Inc too. As unlovery as those guys may be, they sure do put out some solid music.

Bane Collection: Spot Fillers

Looking to fill some spots in your Bane collection? Look no further, goochedge has what you are looking for. And these aren’t just recent EPs. Hell no. He has the goods from the early aughts. Something for everyone.

Not limited to 50. More like 125, but hey, that’s ok.

Euro tour, hot.

Was this also a Euro tour press? I’m pretty sure it was. I recall having Jeremy or Dalbec bring one back for me.

No viruses or n00dz. Just a weirdo web form and music. Great jams.

Righteous Jams – Clarification Requested

Clarification requested! goodxgoodxthings tells a story about the Righteous Jams demo EP that I honestly don’t recall at all.

somehow I found 2 versions of this record one with the Spoiler drawing on the cover and this black one, don’t remember what the deal wit that was… I guess some printing error, but somehow I remember hearing that the band didn’t like the Spoiler drawing… anyone remember the righteous story? then share it on vinylnoize.com!

I don’t recall that at all. I just remember they were expensive to get because you had to order a bunch from AMRecords at a time. I guess that’s how Europeans feel when they order US records. It was just an unexpected price, considering RJ was a local band. I think it would have cost me less to drive to Joey C’s house, buy him dinner and buy an EP from him than it was to order it from Europe. That’s how it goes.

But if anyone remembers what the deal with the covers is, please spill. Personally, I think the Spoiler cover kills it. Great looking sleeve. Of course, it would have benefited by mentioning “Boston Straight Edge.” Ha

J. Bannon – The Blood Of Thine Enemies

Here’s a stellar one from Deathwish Inc. This is single song, one sided EP lot from J. Bannon of Converge. This one was released as a solo project in 2008, not under the Converge name, but just as Jake. It’s a little different from the Converge sound. Slowed down and moody, but still dark as hell. And like usual, Jake has gone above and beyond on the layout and vinyl. 4 different color EPs. Each is one sided where the b-side is laser etched. Check the last picture below to see the best example of the etching. The sleeve itself is pretty rocking too. Lots of small details on this one. Big fan. You can check out more of Jake’s work on his site. Do yourself a favor and pick up a few of those prints.

Have a listen.

See more from jstarnold. He seems to have plenty more where this came from.

Bane Recursion

You know I’m a big fan of this Bane EP so lets just cut over to see what deathwishinc has to say about it.

BANE – 10 Year Anniversary 7″ w/ CD
#005/450 – and you know low #s are better!

Awesome record that Bane did for their 10 year anniversary show which was already a long ass time ago. Time flies. The story with this, from Vinyl Noize…

“The vinyl was pressed for the 10th anniversary gig Bane played in Worcester. Something happened with the vinyl such that it wouldn’t be available for the gig. BUT all the inserts and sleeves WOULD be available. So they whipped up 500 CDs and sold those in the place. Each CD and sleeve was hand numbered. EVR then went SUPER out of their way and allowed people to enter their record number and mailing address on a webform. They then mailed out the EP to every person when they finally got them from the plant. There were 500 pressed up. At the time of numbering, it was decided that 50 of them were going to be stashed aside for a special friends only thing. To this day, I don’t think that ever happened. Of course, since these were all hand numbered, some people created funny numbers like “Stevie of 450″ and stuff like that. I am pretty sure some scamming went along with these CDs, as the web form was simply an email to EVR with a number and mailing address. Pretty simple to spoof. It’s sad that hardcore kids would do that to a label that was basically giving these away.”

WHOA, deja vu. Hopefully if Uncle Tre (as Morgado calls him, not sure why. Didn’t know they were related. Plus, isn’t morGODo older than Tre? Serious), has another of these he’ll reference this post and the cycle will continue.

Boston Hardcore – Converge

It’s no coincidence that 999organs currently has a feedback of 617. Once you have a gander at some of these awesome boston hardcore items he has, you’ll know what I mean. We’ll start off with his his early Converge EP gems. You are getting some good shit with these.

S/T EP. You’ve got to go way back to get this one. Foundation America Records. Not a lot of these floating around.

Unloved And Weeded Out EP. #177. Hot. Seller mentions something about a “color backing.” I’ve never heard this one. Can someone confirm? Tre?

Petitioning The Empty Sky EP. Ferret #3. This one goes back some ways. I can dig it.

Y2K EP on clear vinyl. There were 1000 of these made, and I feel like there was a time where you couldn’t give these away. There are 1000 of these records. That’s a LOT. I recall dudes thinking of cashing in and buying a few to flip. Granted this was 1999 / 2000. The ebay flipping market isn’t what it is today … They usually sold for what they bought them for. BUT NOW, but now, it seems to be a hit. Get into it. 3 cover songs. Vio-lence, Black Sabbath and The Cure. Not bad.

Soundtrack To The Revolution EP on gold vinyl. Now we are talking. Converge, Bound, Knockdown and … Chokehold?? Canada is not Massachusetts, but we’ll let this slide. This gets you a little bit of everything, Massachusetts-wise. Shout outs to Knockdown. If anyone has the Behind The Eightball demo, get at me. I NEED this one. Who wrote that dust sleeve message?

Fat kids need love too!

I dont know about other Straight Edge kids, but I know that the few sXe friends I have (myself included) all have their own vices and most of them involve food! I remember first seeing Youth of Today and the Gorilla Biscuits and learning what Straight Edge was and thinking… I’m a fat kid with hair 1/2 way down my back and these guys looks like Venice Beach body builders! Seriously… how does a guy one from CT look that tan!?! Anyway… eventually I saw some other bands with Straight Edge members that didnt fit the ‘youth crew’ mold and I decided that was for me.

So even though this record has nothing to do with Straight Edge I dedicate this post to all the Straight Edge fat kids!

Descendents FAT LP

and here is the original Descendents FAT 7″

Title Fight Kingston EP Deluxe

I love this EP. Title Fight are kings, and I’m sure I’m not the only one eagerly awaiting the next release. It’s coming soon, I know it is. This EP from gslota is a great one. It really goes above and beyond in the packaging department (of course, you know the music is above and beyond). This one features an actual Polaroid photo attached to the record sleeve. Limited to 88. I’m surprised how cheap it still is. Normally this one spikes. First press and all. Big fan of Dave’s attention to detail when it comes to proper pressing info. That’s a lot of details.

Terror – Live And Death – Test Press

Here’s a good one from steventv66. A Live And Death EP test press from Terror. Limited to 10 tests. Hot. You may recall most of the regular press were given out as “thank yous for waiting” from Bridge 9 Records. I forget what exactly. Some pre-order that took many months, I think. I want to say No Warning, but that feels odd. If I could read the back sleeve of the EP, I could probably tell you exactly what it was a thank you for. If you win this, or own the regular copy, remind me. American Nightmare? Regardless, this EP is live tracks recorded by Terror at The Showcase in Cali. I wasn’t there — surprised, right? But I can imagine it was insane. Seriously, just listen to this EP. Sounds wreckless. Vogel is king.

Coca Cola, We Don’t Drink No Booze!

I suspect many of you came to this post expecting a Last Rights EP. Not the case this time around. This time, I’m actually blogging about Coca Cola. That’s right, the carbonated cola that we all love. That other soft drink doesn’t stack up, not even close. What you see here from israeli-records, is a box set of 6 EPs from 1979. That’d be 31 (almost 32) years ago. Quite some time, no doubt. And the contents are super varied. From new wave punk to Bob Marley reggae to traditional French tunes to KBD punk. KDB punk? That’s right. Starshooter’s Betsy Party is the b-side of one of these EPs. They were a punk group from France in the late 70s. Their EP Pin Up Blonde was released in 1977 to some fanfare. That’s probably how they landed on this EP boxset. The song featured actually went to #1 on the French Pop charts. Crazy. So if you are down with KBD or Coca Cola, this boxset has your name on it. Get into it.
