Petitioning My Empty Wallet

So I was listening to this album last night, and I gave it a thorough cleaning and realized just how beat my copy of it is. I mean, yeah, I got it used for $3, about ten years ago but, I guess I haven’t pulled it out in a while, even though I really love this album. So am in in the market to upgrade, upgrade! Couldn’t have picked a worse time though probably. Band is as popular as ever, record prices are as high as ever, so in most likelihood I will not be winning or even bidding on this nice looking orange vinyl copy offered by ekim90245. Favorite Converge LP? Maybe! ‘Emo-Slayer’, gotta love it! Pure raw, distorted chaos, but not sloppy or incompetent. What I always loved about Converge. That and the pile-on picture on the back. This one is ending kind of soon.

I need your…Shelter!

I keep hearing from people (mostly girls actually!) that Shelter was the band that got them into hardcore, punk, straight edge, vegetarianism, was their gateway band that changed their lives, etc. I’ve never heard Shelter in high school (the punk rock formative years) and when I finally did they were always the post-Youth Of Today band for me and not much else. I don’t think Shelter will ever top or even equal YOT on any level in my mind and I think that’s healthy. That said I don’t hate Shelter, and I’m open to hearing some more of their better records, but I’m not exactly hunting for them. The early stuff is the best it seems, the later pop-punk stuff blows. Here’s something from the earlier catalog, on EVR, at $10 with free shipping, I think this is the first two 7″s on a 12″. Did this also come out on Revelation on CD? Shelter’s still hazy for me I guess.

Thankful For This Gig: 10-30-99

Since it’s Thanksgiving, I’ll give you a run down on a gig I’m thankful for. Hell, I’m thankful on the whole month of gigs, but this one gig was just stupendous. The It All Comes Down To This record release at the Worcester Palladium on October 30th, 1999. Keep in mind, this was less than two weeks after the “last” Ten Yard Fight gig (National Edge Day). I had also just got back from a week long vacation in New Orleans. Solid end of the month.

This particular gig was Bane (of course), Converge, Reach The Sky and Dillinger Escape Plan. Talk about a stacked lineup. And like I said, just weeks after the first Nat’l Edge Day gig. Crazy, to say the least. The joint was PACKED. Crazy packed. For a lineup like that, I’d expect nothing else. Every band seemed to play perfect sets. Nothing super long, just action packed. The pit never seemed to slow down. Solid gig.

You can pick up the limited record release merch from neal_taflinger (why is that name ringing a bell?). I’m tempted to pop on this auction myself. My size medium tee has shrunk over the years (no, it wasn’t me getting fat …), and it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra copy on pink vinyl. Pink is what you get when your attempt to swirl red and white go sour. Whoops. Limited to 100.

* It was a toss up on whether I should post this here or on TTD. Tell your shirt friends about this one, as it’s a great tshirt. First time the skull was used in the A…

Actually Giving Blood

A few days back, I waxed poetically about the Give Blood repress. I’m obviously looking forward to it. If you haven’t ordered your copy yet, do it now. But at the time, there was no Bane Give Blood album up on ebay. That’s changed. the1234gorecordsstore just upped the clear/coffee press. This one is limited to 250 slabs. Not as desired as the red/clear split, but still a solid item to add to your collection.

ps. The majority of respondents to our previous contest said “Ante Up” was their favorite track on Give Blood. Can you blame them? Some Came Running and Sunflowers and Sunsets. You can’t go wrong.

American Nightmare Purple X LP

For many years I thought that the American Nightmare friends press LP was supposed to be a purple X across the black vinyl as some kind of straight edge symbol. What a dipshit. But what always surprised me more about this LP is that it seems commonly referred to as the ‘blood splatter’. I have seriously wondered why for a long time. I mean, did anyone ever see blood that was purple, or blood that randomly splattered into a nice neat X? No, of course not. This should just be referred to as the purple X edition if you ask me. Anyway, regardless of what you’re calling it, this is rare as hell and twice as popular. UK seller boroxrob is selling his to help push his business forward, and in the process helping you push your American Nightmare collection forward.

And if that’s not enough, dude also has the dark red color of the same LP up as well. This one is the one that really should be called ‘blood splatter’ as it is deep red and actually does look like blood. Sometimes I wonder whether this color IS the blood splatter and at some point years ago someone, somewhere got confused and referred to the purple X one as ‘blood splatter’ and the name just stuck. Seems kinda plausible to me. Anyone got any idea?

Back On Track

Of all the Ten Yard Fight releases, this is the one that takes the most time to warm up to. Maybe it’s the format. An LP is a lot of songs, and TYF has always been an EP band to me. Short and sweet. You know those EPs are unfuckwithable, The Only Way is a monster. So good. You should grab this one. The gold vinyl doesn’t pop up often, and EVR color vinyl is always in demand. Plus the_underdog played a few gigs with TYF. You can’t fuck with that, right?

Oh, Coheed And Cambria ..

Over the weekend, some seriuos shit went down with Coheed And Cambria. They are on tour supporting Soundgarden right now, and while rolling through Massachusetts, Michael Todd the bassist did something extremely stupid. He held up a pharmacy with a picture of a bomb. For oxycotin. Not cool, not cool at all. He’s obviously hitting the bottom. He was arrested before his band could play the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Mass. He’s going through some shit now, and we hope he has the willpower and stamina to make it back. It’ll be an uphill battle. All our best.

Second Stage Turbine Blade. Crazy.

Or grab them all at once.

Ring Ring…

Look can I be honest with all of you? As I write this, it’s 2am. I’m exhausted. But I am only just now getting to my searches for Vinyl Noize. So this morning’s posts… I’m just gonna say it, I’m phoning it in. Ideally, there’d be a copy of H2O’s Can’t Get Off The Phone to post with this admission, but there isn’t, so we’re just going to have to make do with the s/t 7 inch on EVR, being sold by xxxevilxxx666

When I wake up again, I will hopefully get back on track (maybe with a copy of Back On Track?) for the afternoon. But like I said, for the morning, I’ll be phoning it in.

Cleanse

When Burn broke up a million years ago (for the first time), they left without ever REALLY releasing the Last Great See ep. Some people had tape copies, or copies of copies, of some crazy 6th generation copies. The music was fucking astounding. It wasn’t released officially by Revelation Records until 2002, nearly 10 years after it was originally recorded. But before this EP could be released, Burn reunited. They played a few gigs and recorded a BRAND new album. You’d think this would be amazing. The original Burn EP is mind blowing awesome. Serious next level shit. But the Cleanse LP left a lot of people wanting more. Something about it just never sat well with me. But Equal Vision Records did their best to put out a release that record nerds and music fans would love. They pulled it off. Also odd? No merch was ever repressed to support the LP release. Weird.

As I recall, this album came on black, yellow and red. This is the yellow copy. Limited to ~200 (as I recall).

Check out statement-of-pride’s other auctions. He always has good shit up going up. Continue reading »

Pink is the new Black

Once again trashamericanstyle is helping your color vinyl addiction!

BANE – ‘It All Comes Down To This’ on PINK vinyl. I’m not a Bane expert, but I believe that there are only 100 copies on pink and that they were sold at the record release show. I’m not sure what it will sell for, but 100 copies of a Bane release is pretty low so jump on this while the price is low and hopefully it will end up fitting into your budget & your collection!

First & Ten

You’ve seen a bunch of the auctions here, but I would suggest you keep an eye on trashamericanstyle because with all the great stuff they’ve been selling who knows what could come next!?

Ten Yard Fight – ‘Back On Track’ clear Yellow vinyl. Limited to only 300 copies! Awesome record… Awesome band that totally helped keep Boston alive for a long time. Wrench has also done a lot of great video work including working on the Slapshot documentary ‘Chip On My Shoulder: The Cautionary Tale of Slapshot’ which hopefully Taang! will eventually release.

Ten Yard Fight also had a great logo! The X’ed up football guy is instantly recognizable and makes a great Tshirt!

I want a Creamsicle

A few weeks ago, someone petitioned for an embargo on New Found Glory records. I signed that petition. They never said anything about Coheed and Cambria records. I honestly don’t know anything about this record, BUT, I did find the more common colors of this vinyl selling for $160 – $220. WTF? Do people like this band that much? I just didn’t know.

I do like one thing about this band. A few yeas back, when they really broke, my friend Nick was their tour agent. He got to ride that success wave, and I’m psyched for him. For that, here’s Coheed and Cambria.

Buy this album, help out another one of my friends.

I’m (still) vegan. I can’t recall having a creamsicle in about a jillion years. Anyone know any good vegan creamsicles?
