Pelican Diamond Encrusted Box Set

Every now and again I come across an auction that is priced a little optimistically. You know. Pick the highest price that the thing had ever sold for and then add a bit on, hoping that someone will bite. And then sometimes I come across a price that is ridiculous. I think I found an Orange 9mm LP that was listed at $10,000 last year. We all speculated that it happened because the seller was in Japan, and maybe he put the price in dollars when he actually meant yen. But this auction here from recordgraveyard takes things to a whole new level. This is an auction for the Pelican 10 x LP box set. I have one of these. My girlfriend bought it for me for Xmas. It’s a nice item, being ten LPs in a wooden box. But it’s not as nice as this price suggests.

Orange 9mm > Judge

Ok, so a few weeks ago I found an Orange 9mm LP listed for sale at the rather ambitious price of $880. Someone thought that maybe the seller (in Japan) had maybe got mixed up between Japanese Yen and US dollars. But no such theory can be applied the this auction from a seller who is based firmly in the US of A.

Ask yourself how much would you expect to pay for a sealed copy of the self titled Orange 9mm 12″ that Revelation Records released in 1994? $10? $20? Probably somewhere in that ballpark I would guess. Well, either we’re all out of touch with reality, or vinylrecordgirl comes from a parallel universe where Orange 9mm is to music what Van Gogh is to post impressionist painting, because apparently this thing is apparently now worth more than three chung kings.
