SCHISM #8

Some cool zines up from Finnish legend vote-vasko, including the final issue of Schism

Supposedly True Till Death (the song, not the record) by Chain of Strength was written in response to the Al Barile/SSD interview contained herein, but who knows. I always got a chuckle out of them bashing Skrewdriver in the reviews section, but featuring their records in the collage on the front cover. And on that note, is there anything better than a good record collage? I think I have like 90 of the 104 pictured.

2 Bootlegs & 1 Fanzine

The seller says that this auction is for a Bringin’ It Back Fanzine titled “Revelation Records Can Suck It Vol #1″ which includes Youth of Today and a Gorilla Biscuits 7″s, but I thought I remembered seeing that GB 7″ (without a zine) in stores back in the early 90′s.

Either way, The Bringin’ It Back zine features interviews, merch sold by Revelation, and an interview with Jordan Cooper of Revelation Records.

The 7″s that are included are obviously bootlegs. The first is Youth of Today “Live At CBGB, 1996″ and the other is Gorilla Biscuits “Live at the Safari Club, April 7 1990″.

Collectible Bootlegs

I never understood collecting bootlegs.

Especially now, where I see these massive (and impressive) collections for bands, with entire rows of records being variants of bootlegs. It’s wild. Who am I to judge.

Two things I do understand are fanzines and live recordings. And live bootlegs. So when I came across this gem, it felt right to get it up here. And you know what JJ says…

Feel it’s right, go out and do it.

Bringing It Back Fanzine #4 featuring Gorilla Biscuits “Live at the Safari Club” and Youth of Today “Live at CBGBs” 7″s. It’s literally been 12 years since I’ve heard the GB bootleg, so I can’t speak to that, but the YoT live at cbgb’s is a fun ride. I don’t remember the quality being anything to write home about as far as CBGB’s recordings go, but it’s definitely worth owning. Give this a good home, nothing like a ‘zine and vinyl combo.

D.R.I., Youth of Today, Lemonheads…

One of these things is not like the others…

Let’s get things straight. Youth of Today is awesome. For some reason it’s out of vogue to be into YoT, but it seems like that “goes around” and then “comes back around.” For my money, there’s nothing like the feelings I had throwing We’re Not In This Alone on when I was 17. As I get older I don’t necessarily need a short dude (no diss, I’m no Randy Newman!) telling me how to live my life. I know what I’m shooting for, yada yada yada.

But you know what never gets old? D.R.I.

One time I saw D.R.I. in New York on a Tuesday night… they went on sometime after 1 and finished up sometime after 2:15. It was great. Thankfully my boss was also a fan.

This is one of the best issues of Suburban Voice in my opinion, and one of the handful I proudly own. Until I sell my zines, which have all been sealed up for some time now, but I think this issue will survive the purge. Scoop this up and learn a thing or two. Some things aren’t online yet…

Schism Records book

In 2005 Bridge 9 did the first licensed re-release of the Project X 7″. It had been bootleged many times, but Chris Wren got permission from everyone involved and he did it right!

The first press of the single was available on black vinyl which was limited to 1500 copies or on white vinyl that were numbered and limited to 500.

The catch was to get the whtie vinyl you had to buy the package deal which came with this book that was also numbered to match the 7″ that you got. This is the book from that package deal.

The book is 128 pages and compiles 3 complete issues of Schism Fanzine from 1987 & 1988. Hard to believe that even just this reprint book came out over 5 years ago!

Anyway, the 7″ and book packages sold out right away and even though the 7″ was recently repressed (on clear vinyl still available) the book has not been reprinted. This is # 438 of 500.

Wes Eisold fanzine

Wes Eisold fanzine up for grabs. This is issue is entitled “Depressed Skull” and is #ed out of 400 and signed by wes.
Maybe this is the issue that dudes from “fallout boy” stole lyrics from and hoped to get away without anyone noticing? That was a pricey risk.
This lot also contains a bonus “some girls condom keychain”? is that a bonus or a bumout? and a demo also putout by Wes’s label
