April 27th 1991 (edited to correct date) was a big day in Providence, RI. I remember it well, it was a very sunny and warm day and Insted was playing at Club Baby Head and there was a faction of Providence kids that thought the show was priced to high (I dont remember what it cost). So they decided to put on the ‘Fuck Insted, Come Here Insted’ show. It was up college hill at the RISD Tap Room and it featured the same 4 bands that would open for Insted later that day, Inflatable Children, Puzzlehead, Rorschach & Born Against and the late addition of an unknown band playing its first show ever… a little band called DROPDEAD!

Dropdead’s ‘birthday’ was just as blistering as they are to this date as they barrelled through 10-15 minutes of crusty grindcore hardcore punk and I’m proud to say I was there.

There were a couple of other things that happened that day. Some photos were taken that were later used as part of the layout for the Puzzlehead ‘Pathrinder’ LP and The Inflatable Children set was recorded and eventually released as 1 side of this flexidisc.

Puzzlehead (featuring indie-rock hero Ted Leo) and The Inflatable Children (from Concord, MA) are 2 very underrated bands from the early 90′s.
