Growing Stronger Clear

sector.7g has what is, I think, the second rarest version of what is definitely the best or second best straight edge compilation 7″ of the late 90s, the ‘Growing Stronger’ comp. This version is clear vinyl #/100. Released by In My Blood & Teamwork Records, this features Ensign, Rain On The Parade, Pushed Too Far, Atari, Floorpunch & 97A. Looks and sounds great. And at only $6.53 with 8 hours left, you have no excuse.

Q: What do floorpunching and mullets have in common?

A: Normally I would be inclined to say the answer is nothing. Years ago when I would download HC clips or stream minute long videos in quicktime off the internet; I found the xmulletx website. I came across the FP NOT FOR ME footage where the sound was a bit off and there appears to be a great big sea of people flowing across the room and the stage singing along to one of the best anthems of our time.

Because I’m such a curious guy, I have wondered about how reissues/greatest hits collections/discographies effect the market value of original releases. Since the Floorpunch disco on Six Feet Under have you noticed that prices seem to be up or down on the FP DEMO and DIV 1 Champs record on IN MY BLOOD. I’m sure it can be argued both ways, but I would be interested in seeing some charts.

What’s important is that right now you have the opportunity to win grab this on CLEAR.

xscottbeuryx has this limited to 300 version of the Division One Champs (this could make for a great vanity plate – DIV1CHAMPS). I have always really dug the live shot on the cover of this record. How many great releases have this?. I think this is pretty unique to hardcore/punk…to have a studio recorded album feature a live shot of the band playing and the crowd in attendance.

Lastly, I would like to thank Ben Pepin for managing a VHS collection of live sets of which I happened to acquire the footage from the very show that this album cover photo was taken. Having not seen this during my formative years who knows what could’ve become of me.

Growing Stronger Compilation in Red, Yellow and Blue

With seller earwax666hotmail and xdiscontentx auction’s you can knock out a good chunk of the pressing of the Growing Stronger Compilation by Teamwork Records and In My Blood Records. The first press of the Growing Stronger comp came with red lettering and had a bunch of weird versions and clear and red colored vinyl.  The second pressing had blue lettering, I’m pretty sure there was colored vinyl for this one as well.  And lastly, the 3rd pressing has yellow lettering with black vinyl.  So hit the auction and get 1st, 2nd and 3rd pressing of this record.  Or just pick up one. The insert for this is worth the $$$.

Tracklisting is as follows, if you are not familiar.

1. Ensign – Hold
2. Rain On The Parade – Class Of 89
3. Pushed Too Far – Parting Ways
4. Atari – Times Together
5. Floorpunch – Floorpunch
6. 97a – Growing Stronger

Great songs on this compilation and a little something for everyone, if you like Youth Crew Revival. Look at his ad. A Classic in the making in 97, this was in the Hardware zine (correct me if I’m wrong).

As for the records; here they are.

Axtion Packed Floor Punch Crew Members Are?

Is this a riddle? I have no idea. On the inside of this Turning Point EP is the message, “Axtion Packed Floor Punch Crew Members Are?” pertalou bought this one back in 88 and claims the message was written by a member of the band. It obviously can’t be connected to the band Floorpunch, though, right? I mean, in 1988, those dudes were either moshing hard or playing in Release. I don’t think FP was even a glimmer back then. Interesting foreshadowing from one NJ straight edge band to another… Burning Joint is still a funny nickname.

White Wax Wednesday, starring Floorpunch.

Yeah, we’re stretching the themes we go for, but c’mon, it sounds good right? And xbestoneyetx has the goods. Floorpunch goods, yo. Both are rare, and both are awesome.

Here’s a fun “white” factoid. If you’ve ever driven through Worcester, Massachusetts along Route 9, you may have driven through White City. And you probably wondered, why the fuck would anyone name a portion of a town “white city?” Sounds a little … off, right? Turns out, back in the early 1900s, there was an amusement park right there on Quinsigamond Lake. It was part of a chain of amusement parks, each was called … duh, duh, duh … White City. It had roller coasters, diving horses, … all the exciting turn of the century amusements. Eventually it shuttered and now it’s the home of the Tortilla Triangle (or it was. Qdoba closed, leaving just Moe’s and Chipotle to duke out that intersection). So there you have it. Solid factoid.

Test Press Tuesday: For Friends Of Floorpunch.

I dunno WHO xbestoneyetx could POSSIBLY be, or who they could POSSIBLY be selling records for, but doesn’t it always seem like they have the ill Floorpunch goods? In this case, it’s the recent discography 2 lp from some label called Six Feet Under Records. One is the band/friends only press out of 95 on blue (still sealed), and the other, conveniently enough for the day of the week, is a test press…

Floorpunch on Gold 80/88

fargo01 is bringing some real heat on ebay right now. As the last post of the FP gold here on vinylnoize, the seller states “Here it is, the “Chung King” of the 90′s, the rarest of the rare! Floorpunch division one champs 7″ on GOLD vinyl, #80/88 Complete w/ hand-numbered dust-jacket and cover.”

Everyone knows the story of this coveted piece of vinyl, but if you don’t here it is.  The gold vinyl were out of 100 total, but 12 were destroyed & thrown into the Jersey Shore.  According to The List this copy was last registered as Daniel Halfter’s copy.  This copy is being auctioned from over in Germany and it’d be great if some USHC preservationists brought it back over the pond. Shout outs to Clay Smith, owner of 2/88 for telling me about this copy on ebay.

I’m sure this will be watched closely in the next week.  It’s at 1.00 starting bid, so if you wanna throw a bid on there for the time being and say you were winning FP on gold, I’d say go for it now.  This will be going for a pretty penny if it doesn’t get taken down before the auction ends.

“A new ’88 in ’97″

I was going to post the Supersoul Rebirth of Hardcore 1999 comp, mainly because my roommate had the huge poster hung above his desk the whole time we lived together but I realized I like this comp better.

“For The Sake Of Dedication” from Crucial Response featuring lots of great European bands of the time like Sportswear, Mainstrike and Eyeball, as well as notable American bands like Floorpunch and Ten Yard Fight. str8t8 has the green vinyl pressing out of 543 which is the only colored vinyl variant. This comes with a really nice huge booklet and the green vinyl is also supposed to have a bonus poster according to the Crucial Response site, not sure if this auction has it. I have it though and I’d say the poster being gone should not be a deal-breaker.

Floorpunch test press! (kind of)

I’m not a fan of mattsvinyl. Dude sells test pressings. In my mind, however, these are not legit copies. I think that whathe sells are copies of test pressings that were pressed and kept at the pressing plant. What is noticeable in his listings is that regardless of the record label or band or year, every test has the same labels with the same hand writing on them, which is usually just the catalog number and the date the thing was pressed. Ok, so technically these things probably are test pressings, as they were most likely pressed at the same time as the other tests, but my point is that these particular copies would probably never have been sent to the label or band. As we know, most test pressings these days come in limited sleeves that the label put together for fun, but none of this dude’s tests are ever gonna come in a sleeve. And so for that reason, I don’t consider that the tests that this dude sells are legit. Even though they are. Sort of.

What’s interesting then is that on any other day of the week I would love to get my hands on a test of this record. This is one of my favourite comps ever, The Time Is Now, which features the best bands from the 1997 straight edge scene, such as Floorpunch, Hands Tied, & Rain On The Parade. Only recently I scored a marble red vinyl copy / 25 for cheap cos it was listed badly. But I’m not going to bid on this because, as I have just said, I don’t regard this a legitimate test. But if you don’t give a shit and want to be able to brag that you own some kind of Floorpunch test that will probably go pretty cheap, then maybe this one’s for you…

Last chance for Kyle’s auctions

Daylight savings has me all messed up. At like 5:30 last night, my brain felt like it was time to leave work. So I got myself ready, and then looked at a clock, and realized that it was far too early to be done for the day. So I decided that I would run some DW related errands. I ran over to Liberated Images, and pick up some new Deafheaven merch that we got printed up, then headed into Boston to meet up with Jeff from Run For Cover in a police station parking lot to pick  up some new RFC titles for our distro.  Since I was in Boston, I decided to treat myself to breakfast for dinner, and had some pancakes, and while peacefully enjoying my meal Whitlow starts blowing up my phone. Apparently he felt he wasn’t getting enough VN coverage this time around, and was hassling me to post up some of his stuff. So since we go way back, I told him I would do this for him. Move quick, these all end tonight!!!

But if you dont want to buy that you should probably come to the Joe Hardcore Benefit Show in Philly on Nov 4th. Here is the info.

Last week, Joe “Hardcore” Mckay was arrested in Philadelphia while driving in his car on the way to work on his friend’s house. He was unaware that his passenger was carrying illegal drugs and despite the fact that both he and the passenger admitted that he was unaware of what was in the car at the time, he was charged with a felony possession charge. His lawyer is confident that the case will not stand in court, yet as we all know, good lawyers cost money. Outside of the shows that Joe books, he is a family man with 3 kids and child support to pay. His job is seasonal and with all the recent rain, has been in and out of work over the past 2 months. Needless to say, this is a terrible time for him and his loved ones at home to have to stress over the pending charges and scrape together money for a lawyer.

Joe is someone I consider to be one of my closest and best friends so when I heard about what happened I wanted to help out anyway I could. The thing that made the most sense to me was to do a show. He did everything he could to convince me that we could think of other alternatives but after a lot of arguing I got my way and was left with less than 3 weeks to put something together. With the help of Robby Redcheeks and Dave Sausage, the lineup that we created is:

COLD WORLD
FLOORPUNCH
THE WRONGSIDE
PEGASUS
FACE REALITY
AGITATOR

These bands were all generous enough to agree to play when I asked and I could not be more thankful. Floorpunch and The Wrongside arent exactly active, Cold World flew Dan in from England, Face Reality is making the drive from Detroit, and Agitator is set to open it all up. It proves how much people care about Joe and what he has done for Philly/hardcore kids in general over the last couple of years. Anyone that has been to a show here has seen him/probably ended up in a conversation with him and should know how much hardcore has meant to him and how much he puts into making everything the best it can be. Now when he’s in need, it’s time to give some back.
I wanna say thank you to Linas Garsys for doing an unreal job on the prints that Robby is going to screen and a sincere thanks to bands for playing and labels that are contributing things to be raffled off at the show-deathwish, backtoback, harvcore, b9, triple b, youngblood and react! There will also be assorted other things for sale at the show, shirts, prints, posters, etc. This will be something that is truly special to be a part of and I couldn’t be more happy to see the hardcore community show their support and be able to see an incredible show at the same time. Also, thanks to LIAM and everyone at broad street for letting us have the event at their venue for 100 percent free just because they wanted to help as much as possible/not take any money in return for their kindness
If you want to help but can’t make it to the show, we have set up a paypal where you can donate.

Goin’ to AC Saturday afternoon…

Another staple from Pete of Holding On (sector.7g). The Floorpunch LP on green. You just can’t lose here.

Instant D1C collection

Highly respectable seller gernblandsten has three Floorpunch gems up right now, all underpriced if you ask me. Theyre out of the collection of one of the members of the band, but which im not sure. Maybe that makes them more collectible for some of you?

First is this white vinyl final pressing of 100 for Division One Champs. If you consider how many are still with the band members and the fact that TDT probably has like 30 of them then theres not many out there to go around.

Theres also this 3rd pressing with with green lettering on the sleeve. Way harder to find than it should be.

Lastly theres the Growing Stronger Comp 7″ on red out of 57. Just consider it a 1 song Floorpunch 7″ and its pretty cool.

And even though there are only a few hours left theres also this red D1C from flandersfury

Floorpunch take offs 2x

Whoa, I’m seeing double! Two actions from adambombx79 with the same “Division One Champs” take-off sleeve design on Dead By 23. First is Frostbite, remember them? The second one is No Rights (pre-Blacklisted). Haha, cool.

The Demo Noizes Of Jeffrey Pelly, Volume 1.

Does every one know jeffpelly? No? Well, I don’t know him myself, so I can’t do proper introductions, but what I can do is unleash a trio of Demo Noize posts showcasing the demo collection he’s auctioning off. I even did my best to divide it up among probable lines of interest. First off, we have the late 90s Youth Crew hardcore revival section…

Hit us back in a couple hours for Volume 2!
