Japanese seller batfuk is providing us with a pretty fair priced BIN for Gauze’s 2nd LP “Equalizing Distort”. This came out in 1986 on Selfish Records and stands the test of time for japanese hardcore and punk. I think that this particular LP is when Gauze really came into their sound from their humble beginnings in the fall of ’81 and ran with it for the next 20 years. As for this particular auction there is a little of bit of aging on the cover that can be see on the fourth picture down. In batfuk‘s description he states that is why the price is the way it is.

Japacore BINs
Seller krypt-of-kool is here to fill the gaps in your punk record collection AND your vintage porn collection…
He’s got a few Japanese hardcore rippers hiding between the issues of Master Beaters and Hot Hole Detective, at very reasonable BIN prices. Lip Cream’s first LP really needs no introduction, but if you require an introduction to Japanese HC, then A Farewell To Arms is a great place to start. Killer tracks from Lip Cream, Gauze, Outo, The Execute, Gastunk and Ghoul — basically a who’s who of hardcore in Japan circa 1986. This is the original Selfish Records pressing, not to be confused with the later issue on Germany’s Nuclear Blast label. Have at ‘em.
Equalizing Fuckheads
A couple more Japacore ragers to cap off the evening from koorifuyu…
Gauze are probably one of the top three most legendary Japanese hardcore bands along with Lip Cream and GISM, and their recorded output over the past 25+ years has been nearly flawless. Their first LP Fuckheads, is probably their most “punk” full length, before they dropped into ripping hardcore mode with their second release, Equalizing Distort. Some might say that Equalizing Distort is the high point of their catalog, which I may agree with on some days, but may disagree with on others (usually after listening to the 3rd or 4th lps). I do have to say though that it’s their most iconic release, with their famous anarchy symbol logo popping up for the first time on its back cover. One funny thing with Fuckheads, is that the B-side label was issued blank because the band wanted to include a photo of their four asses as the label art, and the plant wouldn’t allow it, so they included the original art as a small insert. It’s cool that this copy is complete with said insert.
GAUZE – 限界は何処だ LP
3RD ALBUM 10曲のスタジオトラックとスコットランドでのライブを収録.
Gauze’s third and seemingly rarest LP, this one doesn’t pop up too much at all. The title translates roughly to mean “Where is your energy?” and this record is often mistakenly referred to as “Live In Scotland” although only a few songs on the B-side are live.
This LP is the first thing I ever heard by these guys, at some point in the mid 90s at my friend’s record shop in Western Mass. I was totally blown away, I had never heard anything like it before or since—fast, noisy and chaotic, yet completely technical and precise without a hint of metal. Next level stuff for sure.
Hopefully these guys will make it back to the US for some shows again, they had a weekend scheduled for September which unfortunately fell through :(
