Test Press Tuesday Winds Up With Guns Up.

I’d say it’s turned out to be a pretty great Test Press Tuesday, and now seller xxxevilxxx666 is back to close out our day with a trio of Guns Up test presses. We’ve got another pair of Outlive tests (one of both ep and lp), and a test for the Game Over ep on Rocket Punch Records…

Yeah, it’s been a good Test Press Tuesday. Gonna be interesting to see if we get as much mileage out of Test Press Thursday!

Outlive. Outlive. Outlive.

A trio of test presses from seller mattsauctions77 for your three o’clock hour (on the East Coast at least). And all three of them are versions of Guns Up’s Outlive: 2 lp tests (one accepted, one rejected) and a test of the ep of the same name…

Now, I’ve never been one to jump on the “Guns Up is just a rip off of No Warning” band wagon (even tho, let’s just admit it: they may not have used their riffage, but GU sounded EXACTLY like No Warning. Which is fine, because NW dropped that sound right as GU got really good at that sound. The scales of mosh remained balanced.), but I’ve always wondered about this “last” West Coast show intro… pretty sure another band used that same intro just a few short months before at their Last Supper in Brockton… which we would have accompanying video evidence of if Garvey ever uploaded anything to youtube…

DRUG UP – GUN TEST

tyxcobb has a few records up including these two that I wouldnt mind owning!

Just any ordinary Drug Test – Needle in the Neck 7″ is a pretty cool record, but this is the special ‘record release’ version from the 2004 record release show. Its a special sleeve and numbered #47 out of 100.

GUNS UP – Game Over 7″ on blue vinyl from the Rocket Punch Records 2003 tour press. The sleeve on this one is awesome! Its a rip off of issue #21 of the original GI Joe comic with Snake Eyes on the cover. The best thing about this comic is that it was a ‘Silent Issue’. There was no text at all, it was just a dramatic meeting of Snake Eyes and Stormshadow. So awesome! Ok… back to the 7″, this is # 15 out of only 90 and its pretty damn cool!

This is just a TEST… I repeat this is a TEST!

Holy shit this is a week of big records! It figures to because I’ve been casually looking for a house to buy and finally found something in the area I want and for a fair price, but buying a house means slowing down with buying non-essentials, which means cutting back on records! I must say that corkinhurst has some stuff thats making me question how bad I want to be a home owner though.

Black on Black – Black Flag tribute test press/first press # 1 of 53

Barfight 7″ test press of only 15!!

Guns Up ‘Out Live’ LP test press # 18 of 20!

Reach The Sky demo 7″ test press of only 12 copies!

Redemption 87 original New Age Records LP test press!

and not the rarest, but my favorite… Ragmen self titled LP test press # 12 of 15!!

Your Guns Up Collection Sucks

Seriously.

Your Guns Up collection sucks.

But don’t worry, a good friend of vinylnoize, Riley is here to save your collection.

I’m suggesting you buy ALL of these. Save on shipping, right?

One time when I was first starting to get to know Dan, we made a crucial trade off the Mullet board. I traded him some Nike Dunk Highs for the first Bane shirt. I was pretty happy with our trade. We ended up meeting at a rest stop on 495 in Chelmsford, Mass. It was pretty weird. We’d actually make trades like this a few more times over the year. And he would get sneakers out of Canada from Nick Final Word for me too. Good hand offs on the Lowell Connector. Good times.

Guns Up Rejected Test Press

I know we’ve seen test presses for this album on ebay before.

BUT

Never before have we seen the REJECTED test presses. In fact, I wasn’t even aware there were rejected test presses. Seller has lots of great info (of course, he’s a head). And this one seems to be coming straight from Riley’s collection. To yours?

Dan Doyle would support. Do your job, pick this one up. Guns Up. Mosh.

Guns Up Outlive Promo EP Test Press

It’s funny.

At some point in the last few years, labels started doing EPs to promote upcoming LPs. I’m not sure if it’s because the LPs were taking so long to drop, or if they were just trying to build the hype more. I think B9 started the trend amongst the hardcore labels. H20 got one so did New Found Glory.

This one comes from the label 1917 Records out in California. Great label from a great dude, Riley. I go on good faith that he is a good dude because I’ve never met him. Despite saying every year, “I’m going to Sound & Fury this time,” I’ve still never gone. Maybe this year … But if Bob Shedd and TJ say he is a good dude, well, then he IS a good dude.

I was a big fan of the Guns Up LP when it dropped. It was heavy at a time when hardcore was going some weird other direction. And it was great seeing xmulletx behind the drums again. I know he played with Some Kind Of Hate, but that band NEVER played out, unless it was to 20,000 kids in Spain (or something like that). Shoot outs to Dan Doyle too (congrats homie).
