Classic example of a time-and-place band/record. You know, the kind of band that the locals rave about but no one outside of the area has ever heard, let alone actually heard of. This is one of those records that turns up pretty frequent, usually cheap, and I make whoever is with me at the record store buy it if they haven’t heard it.
They started out as Bound, released a demo and a 7″, decided the name was too serious, and changed it to HATCHET FACE (much cooler IMO) and did this LP. I think there were 500 made on black, with various color screens on the cover, and then they repressed a couple hundred on blue when those sold out.
Oh yeah, there’s music on this thing… It’s sort of like if Rorschach had an lp on X-Claim — a distinctly 1990′s take on fast HC. And yes, as stated in the listing, drummer Matt Kelly now plays for the Dropkick Murphys. Is any DKM fan really going to find this on ebay and buy it? LOL.
