Metal Monday: Celtic Frost – Morbid Tales

It’s not every day you can find a really clean copy of Morbid Tales complete with the oversized insert poster. pizked777 just happens to have an original Noize Records third press up right now without either a ridiculously high “Buy It Now” or an unattainable starting price. Check out his user profile on ebay. You can see this is a man not to be trifled with!

Celtic Frost were game changers in the metal game. At the time this record came out back in 1984 me and my friends lumped them in with scary shit like Venom, but they were a lot more than a routine heavy, fast, Satanic imagery band. Way more. In the end with all their iterations and sound changes over the years they would end up influencing thrash, death and black metal, as well as all that Euro Viking stuff too. For me this album is by far their best stuff. Every song is a banger!

Three days to go and still holding at a very reasonable price. i might jump in just for the poster.

Metal Monday: GHOST – Opus Eponymous Insta-collection

Hail Satan, what a find!

Everyone has an opinion on Ghost. They definitely leave an impression with their catchy 70′s style hard rock, overtly cheesy satanic lyrics and outlandish back story and costumes.
pic
Love them or hate them, they have made their mark. One thing that can’t be refuted is their popularity in the record collecting circles. No less than 15 (and counting) different pressings of their first and only album, Opus Eponymous have been released by Rise Above Records. The small numbers of each color range from 300 to 500, making this an absolute nightmare to collect.

Well have no fear, deepdavid has your insta-collection of 13 different versions all lined up. He even throws in a copy of the ultra rare “Elizabeth” 7″ for kicks. All you need to do is outbid the 3000+ people keeping an eye on it.

When you think that just one of the records in this lot, the “Die Hard” version, usually sells for $300 to $400 on it’s own, this sucker could get out of hand. I forgot to mention the Die Hard version here is still sealed too. Great.

Hey at least you get free worldwide shipping. I guess that’s something.

Get Excited for Metal Monday

For this Metal Monday, I am going to post one of my auctions actually. I am (markt4livet) selling some things on eBay right now to help pay for my leisure travel and extravagant lifestyle. Check it out. This is Exciter’s second LP, ‘Violence and Force’ that came out in 1984. Exciter is one of those bands who are pretty good 1980′s traditional metal with some thrash elements, but overall I think they are solidly 2nd rate, which is not a bad thing in early 1980′s metal, but is something I can live without for now and get again later without too much trouble. Honesty for ya.

Anyway, this LP has a somewhat funny controversial backstory that I read on the internet somewhere and I don’t even know if this is true but apparently the hand with the switchblade here was changed to look more green on the CD version because it looked too brown here on the original pressing, and was thus racially controversial. Sheesh.

I Also have their first LP, ‘Heavy Metal Maniac’ up -

I have a bunch of other auctions up, check them out, thanks! markt4livet

ICED EARTH HORROR SHOW G/F Blue 2LP

Upon hearing that Matt Barlow would be departing from Iced Earth for a second and final time, I was saddened. He really is the only person that could sing for that band. Even when Tim “Ripper” Owens joined the band on the Glorious Burden Album I was not impressed. I saw them twice in the 90′s with Barlow and 3 three times in the 2000′s twice with Owens and once with Barlow. I could not get into Rippers voice, it was to high. I hope I get to see them with Barlow one more time before he leaves. the_sound_of_metal is selling the double LP set of Horror Show. This album was epic when it came out. I love that Iced Earth does concept albums with story lines. They truly are one of last great power metal bands around.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Bloodsport Heavy Metal over on the other side of the pond tells us that this stuff is “PART OF AN ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE BLACK SABBATH COLLECTION WHICH WE WILL BE SELLING OVER THE COMING WEEKS”, and from the looks of it, it’s gonna be some killer material.

He’s got up a whole slew of international picture sleeve 45s, which, going back to a previous post of mine, are probably my favorite little corner of the record collecting world. So cool singles + the best heavy metal band of all time = two great tastes that taste GREAT together. Back when bands actually did singles, a lot of times they got alternate sleeves made depending on the country where they were made. And for a band as popular as Sabbath, that makes for a lot of countries. So check out the other listings for some very cool looking records.
