I kind of doubt that get_importcds is a huge fan of the Howard Stern show, but I am and thats the biggest reason that I bought the Charred Walls of the Damned record when it came out. The band consists of Jason Suecof who has produced tons of metal bands, Steve DiGiorgio who played with Testament, Autopsy, Iced Earth, Death & Sadus, Ripper Owens who did some time as Rob Halfords replacement in Judas Priest and the one and only Richard Christy who in addition to playing for Death & Iced Earth has become a vital staffer on the Howard Stern Show.

I have a friend that does stand up comedy and a few years ago he was involved in a show that had Richard Christy and some other Stern guys on it. I was at the show early and my Bob Levy had asked my friend to do him a favor and get someone to pick up Richard in Providence at the train station because he was getting in late and I was given that task. I drove about 20-25 minutes talking about the Stern Show and assorted metal bands with Mr. Richard Christy. If I hadnt met Beetlejuice later that night then the ride with Richard would have been the hilight… but I love the Beet!

Anyway… heres a vinyl copy of the first record from CWOTD. Grab this now and then pick up the follow up when it comes out later this year!

ICED EARTH HORROR SHOW G/F Blue 2LP

Upon hearing that Matt Barlow would be departing from Iced Earth for a second and final time, I was saddened. He really is the only person that could sing for that band. Even when Tim “Ripper” Owens joined the band on the Glorious Burden Album I was not impressed. I saw them twice in the 90′s with Barlow and 3 three times in the 2000′s twice with Owens and once with Barlow. I could not get into Rippers voice, it was to high. I hope I get to see them with Barlow one more time before he leaves. the_sound_of_metal is selling the double LP set of Horror Show. This album was epic when it came out. I love that Iced Earth does concept albums with story lines. They truly are one of last great power metal bands around.

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED!

Ahhh my old friend chicosbailbonds is still at it and now hes got a record that I’m surprised came out on vinyl.

Charred Walls of the Damned is a ‘new’ band that was put together by Richard Christy former drummer of Death & Iced Earth and current prank phone caller on the Howard Stern Show. He wrote pretty much all of the music and lyrics and then got a band together that includes former Rob Halford fill in Ripper Owens.

Its super drum fueled metal with LOTS of double bass and crazy drum fills. I picked up the CD when it first came out and it came with an autopgraphed booklet which as a nice bonus.

Slightly related I wrote and recorded (with live instruments) a grindcore song called ‘Hey Richard This is your Dad’ (a tribute to Richard Christy & his Dad) in 45 minutes using real instruments and a 4 track ap on my iPhone yesterday.
