Russian Iggy

Whoa, I’ve never seen this. This is an Iggy Pop 7″ on the OFFICIAL Soviet State Record label – Melodiya (Melody). Cool. I don’t know what year this was but I am guessing the pressing was semi-small and it was sometime in the late 1980′s or 1990-91.

lord-lard got you.

LOTS!

Two different sets of ep lots here…

Seller jk3465 kicks it old school punk style, with records from The Ramones, Iggy Pop, the Buzzcocks, and more:

Meanwhile pothole_skinny (whose auctions are ending first) moves things up a decade or so, bringing us a lot of many of the usual classic late 80s/early 90s hardcore suspects, ie Quicksand, Integrity, Inside Out…

I would guess that the hardcore lot is going to see more action; everything is clearly pictured and appears to be in good condition (some of the punk records are described as having stains), and many of them are records that draw a good $20-30 price on their own. So they’ve got that going for them. Which is nice.

STOOGES – Funhouse

In recent years, The Stooges have hit a level of hipster fanboy-ism that rivals only the Clash (and probably the Velvet Underground) in terms of every douchebag and his brother claiming them as the greatest thing since sliced bread. But unlike the Clash, who have been officially ruined by their current fanbase, no matter how many hipster d-bags foam at the mouth just at the thought of the Stooges, the band and especially this record can never be tarnished. I saw Ron Asheton and some other old Detroit heads blow through all of this record at a show in NYC a few years before the real band got back together, and let me tell you, no one will ever shred a guitar like that again. RIP Ron.

Funny side story: The Stooges were in town this week, and I overheard a funny conversation at the local record emporium the other night. This 30-something Richie Cunningham looking “music fan” guy is buying a huge stack of soul 45s (another cool thing for current “music fans” to get into), and mentions he’s in town as a road tech for the Stooges. The old dude behind the counter chimes in, and it goes something like this:
Old dude: “Oh man, the Stooges… they were so killer when I saw them on the last tour”
Hipster guy: “Yeah we had a good time on that one”
Old dude: “Nah I meant the last REAL tour in ’74″
Hipster guy: :(
Me: LOL PWNED!
