I remember walking into Mystery Train Records in Amherst, MA about 10 years ago and finding this record sitting at the front of the new arrival 7″s for $6.50. Needless to say, I was pretty damn excited, and was shocked that it was just freely sitting there in the bins. I took it home and listened to it, and was a bit let down, as it’s kind of generic compared to My Rage. I quickly traded it away, and have been going back and forth every since then about whether or not I should bother tracking down another copy. I ended up finding one this past summer at a punk rock yard sale for 10 bucks, and was pretty happy about it. It’s still not the greatest record ever, but I think I appreciate it a little more these days. I wonder though what they would have sounded like if Armand stuck to guitar instead of moving over to vox?

Tasty treats from the Nutmeg state
sugarshackvinyl is a nice little lady I frequently see at record fairs around NYC, she’s always got a good pile of punk/hc and metal for sale. Looks like she’s unloading some leftovers from the WFMU fair here, with everything starting at a meager 99¢…
The CIA 7″ just got reissued as a really nice LP with extra tracks, but there’s no substitute for an original Smegma Records pressing for the true collector. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — this is, in my opinion, the finest slice of hardcore to ever come out of CT. I’m bummed these guys canceled the show they were supposed to play up in Western Mass last weekend, they still smoke live!

Lost Generation were another great early CTHC band, who released this 7″ and a couple of LPs in the early 80s on Incas Records. I remember finding this 7″ for $1.99 at a store in Boston when I first started college, and thought I had struck gold. I traded it to a friend in the midwest for a Septic Death Burial 7″, only to find out from him that the Lost Gen record was warped beyond playability. I guess I should have listened to it before trading it.
