Carry Nation – Face The Nation

This is another one of my auctions I have up now. This is such a great EP. I have two of these. I don’t know the pressing info on these, this is the clear vinyl that looks a little ‘coke-bottle’. Carry Nation had Dan O on vocals, along with Gavin from NFAA and Steve Insted. I think I’ve liked everything Steve Insted has ever been in – Insted, Carry Nation, A18, the Alligators. I am not sure if “Big Frank” was in anything else, correct me, someone who knows.  Carry Nation sounded like later NFAA stuff but a little meaner, and that made it awesome. I think Collateral Damage took after this band a bit. Not owning this 7″ is a grave mistake.

Insted murdere’d out

Bah bah bah bo! The first time I saw this version of the Insted 7″ was in Nathan and Anthony’s American Hardcore book. I think this version (3rd press) is cool because it’s kind of weird. For such a positive band like Insted, a stark cover like this doesn’t seem to fit. I mean did they run out of ideas? Were they like “well we changed the logo color for 2nd press already, and we don’t wanna use the same photo again so I guess lets just do this now”? Anyway, I’ve never actually seen this version in real life so check it out. Oh yeah and Insted was an awesome band and this is one of their best records.

deekymutombo owes us a burrito too.

Insted of going out on Friday night, buy records!

Got a few more from module-media here. An Insted triple threat; two copies of We’ll Make The Difference, and the awesomely misspelled We’ll Be Remembered bootleg. We’re missing a couple to have the full We’ll Make The Difference run here, but hey, 2 out of 4 ain’t bad.

Lots of Lots.

Seller live_hard has taken the time saving tactic of putting many of his records into lots. This is also probably going to turn out to be a pretty good money maker for him as well, since plenty of these are records that do well on their own…

Apologies for my extended absence btw. I had a show to play and a wedding to attend this weekend, and I drafted a whole lot of posts in hopes of being ahead of the game. But alas, the seller (who will remain nameless) was actually IN said wedding, and didn’t have time to set up the auctions I had drafted on his advance notice. I’m sure they’ll be hitting soon enough. See you tomorrow for Test Press Tuesday.

Bonds of Test Press Tuesday.

I know I was teasing Tre this morning about selling his AN friend presses and over the Last Rights Hitler sleeve (actually, we rag on Tre pretty much every other week come to think of it) but in reality, Tre really is a great dude. So I kind of wish it was him and not hardcorex74 who was auctioning off this Insted “Bonds of Friendship” test press. Not that I have anything against ol’ x74 or anything; he’s brought serious heat the past week. But after busting Tre’s balls, a post singing his praises probably would have been in order. Oh well.

Stock Collection: Nemesis Records

Here’s another great lot that will pretty much fulfill your stock Nemesis Records collection. Not sure how many people actively seek out these records, but somehow, every collection seems to have them. I’m assuming record gnomes or trolls gather them for you. But fear not because these EPs are actually pretty dope. #4 Insted, #14 Once And For All, #7 Pitchfork, #19 Point Blank, #17 Fishwife. Fishwife? Who the fuck is Fishwife?? Yeah … But go ahead and grab this lot from per2112.

The Bonds Of Friendship

Some sellers are weirdos. Take 1500jfk for example. His selling style is just weird. When he listed this Insted LP, he used the cover shot below as his “gallery” photo. That means, every time someone searches for Insted, they’ll see that pic.

They’ll see the notch on the corner of the sleeve and then they’ll probably blast right by it. However, they’d be missing out. Because INSTED of using that picture, he should have used this one. For obvious reasons …

Smooth move, ex-lax. Instead of the seller scoring big on a tour press LP limited to 200 slabs (or so…), people will just blow by it. A buyers dream!

Tardy For Test Press Tuesday.

You didn’t think I was going to totally skip out on Test Press Tuesday did you? Perish the thought. I’m especially not going to skip out on it when chainxcrew has Insted and Life Sentence tests up…

I naturally assume the Insted test will do better due to being the better known of the two, but Life Sentence is actually the better band by far.

Insted x 3

145bpm has 3 different versions of the Insted Live at CBGBs LP. I actually have a blue vinyl copy that has a done drawing on the inner sleeve and is numbered #15 of 25 that someone said was from the record release. Does anyone have any info on that one??

So, maybe you like this gold/amber vinyl color?

Or maybe you would rather have the blue vinyl?

maybe you have a really bad ass slip matt on your turntable and you like to be able to see it through whatever record youre playing?

Caveat Emptor.

Edit- Perhaps I was too hasty… 90% of these have been yanked since this post went up. Fishy.

I got all excited about the records for sale from patrick166, and then I had my usual last minute realization that this is slavko, back again to taunt me with records I don’t dare risk buying because of his past track record. Still, I haven’t heard anything recent about him getting up to crooked shenanigans, so as always, if you wanna take the risk, there’s some good stuff up (as always).

Some cheap-o BIN’s

Lots of low priced Buy-it-now’s from xundergroundx

I have loved Burn since the first 7″ came out, but honestly I never had it in me to buy this 7″ since it’s on Lost & Found and most of these splits they do are cheesy cash-ins. I got a copy last week in a collection buy-out, and realized it has both of their comp tracks from the Rebuilding comp and Forever comp collected on one handy ep, which I think is kinda cool. Yay.

I always thought Insted really sucked, but if I had to listen to a record of theirs it would definitely be this one.

Integ first ep. Melnicks and Tom Front… what more do you need?

Buy this for $15 here, or buy it for some ungodly amount from Jeff Nelson’s personal archive. Hmm, tough decision!

Only $12 for this record on color? For some reason I thought it was worth a lot more than that. No Escape side = you’re moshing. TP side = you’re slap bassing.

INSTED of buying that, buy this INSTED

xcolinbayerx has a few things for sale, but this one caught my eye becuase I had a pretty odd version of it.

This is Insted “Live At CBGBs” on Livewire Records on Gold vinyl limited to only 400.

The one I have is on blue vinyl and has a drawing of a face on the inner sleeve with #15 of 25 written on it. I havent been able to find anyone that knows anything about it though.

Insted Bonds Of Friendship Test Press

Now we’re talking. Bonds Of Friendship. So posi, so much PMA. I love it. And thankfully, I didn’t live at 8 Carmel, otherwise, I’m sure Spaulding would have ruined it for me too (much like he did to many a dude who lived there). Sad but true. This one is a little extra special. Instead of regular black vinyl, which pops up pretty often, and not white or red, this one is a test press! Not bad, right? Wishingwell Records test presses don’t pop up that often so this is one not to sleep on. Make sure to check out the other auctions from chainxcrew, as he has up over 100 now. I’m sure you can find one or two you enjoy.

4 From The West.

Seller grafiksboy has a lot of hardcore auctions going on, including these lps from 4 classic West Coast hardcore bands with 3 very distinctive singers (Pat Dubar sang for both Unity and UC)…

I’m going to make what will probably be an unpopular admission here… Insted? Not that into ‘em. I won’t pretend they aren’t a classic band, and We’ll Make The Difference is a great song, but every other song I’ve heard from them is just a blur to me. I have the same issue with 7 Seconds and The Crew record. That said, Insted WERE really good when I saw them on one of their reunion stops (Living Room in Providence with The First Step).
