Faster than Discharge?

If you ever read any interviews with old JP HC bands there’s one thing that all of them have in common. All of them state that they started a band because they wanted to play “faster than Discharge”… except for Gauze of course. They wanted to play faster than anything that exists in this world.

What we have here are some of the better recordings that ever came out of the Land of the Rising Sun.

I’ve heard once someone said that this is the finest HC record ever released. I can’t think of many counter arguments to that statement..

JUDGEMENT Process 7″

The second 7″ by Japan’s Judgement, which was only available directly from the band at live shows. In Japan they like to call these “gig-only” releases, and a few other bands have them — Tetsu Arrey, Systematic Death, Extinct Government, Bastard (who Judgement share members with) — and a couple more, that I know of. Contrary to the seller’s description, I’m pretty sure there are 1,000 of these pressed.

I know a lot of people are looking for this record, so this could be a good shot at buying it since the price is still very low ($9.99 at the moment). If you haven’t heard it, I suggest taking a trip over to 7inchpunk and checking it out. Totally punishing hardcore that only the Japanese can ever seem to pull off, like the perfect mix of Discharge and Motörhead (imo the best formula for a hc band, see also: the Cro-Mags). I got to see these guys play a reunion show in Texas last year and it was killer!
