I’m not a huge fan of Led Zeppelin with the exception of the first record, but I am a big fan of Led Zeppelin songs covered by other bands. I can apprecite the band for what they are and I know that Bonham was a monster drummer, but much like some other bands that I love (KISS) their songs are just better when they are covered by other bands.

‘Nothing New Under The Sun’ from Coalesce is my favorite collection of Zeppelin covers, but this Nuclear Assault record that yo_baby_sup has is one that I have enjoyed from my early metalhead days.

The music on Nuclear Assaults version of ‘Good Times, Bad Times’ is pretty straight forward, but John Connelly screaches it out in pure metal fashion. Even though I cut my long hair a long time ago I still wish I had the John Connelly ‘Proud to be a longhaired asshole’ shirt I traded for in the parking lot of the Channel in Boston.

ZEP 1 test press

Now here’s something you don’t see every day, an original test press for one of the most monumental records of all time. I’m not much of a Led Zep fan, but I’ll give some collector respect where it’s due when it comes to an off-the-chart items like this.

The seller is one of the top vinyl dealers on ebay, and can command a premium just by attaching his name to the auction, so the sky’s the limit on this one.

I’m a big fan of bands doing cover songs. Whats better than a song you like, written by a band you like being done by different band you like. 9 out of 10 times its an awesome thing! Kiss is a band that I love, but most of the time when someone does a cover of a Kiss song its even better than the original. Cover of Led Zeppelin songs are the same thing for me.

When I was working at the Newbury Comics Warehouse back in 1999 I got a copy of this ep from Aaron the drummer of ISIS and I played the hell out of it! I never picked up the reissue Hydrahead did a few years ago, but now that I see how many extra songs it has on it, I probably will!
