Vinyl Noize | Mighty Might Bosstones

Around 1990 a few friends and I hoped into my brown and orange Volkswagen bus and drove from Woonsocket, RI to Milford, MA. Specifically we were going to a small record store called ‘Wild Child’ in the same plaza as the Strawberries Records & Tapes warehouse. We went there pretty often, but this night for because there was an in store appearance by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones!

We got there kind of early and were just looking at stuff in the store and hanging around. Eventually all 9 of the Bosstones showed up. The ‘in store’ was a huge disorganized mess! There wasn’t a ton of kids there to meet them, but they were not at a table or anything. It was just 9 guys hanging around all over the store. They had promo posters for the Devils Night Out record and some pairs of Converse All-Stars, since they were in the Converse commercial, that they were giving away and would sign anything anyone had.

I got a poster signed (which I sold a few years ago for over $200) and they signed my Devils Night Out LP. Most of the guys had signed it by the time I walked up to Dicky. I chatted for a minute and handed him my LP and he said “A record? They still make these things?” Then he signed the front cover like the rest of the guys had already, but Dicky wasn’t finished yet! He took the vinyl out of the sleeve, signed the center label and slapped the vinyl on the counter then quickly put it back in the sleeve. It wasn’t until I got home and tried to play the record that I realized Dicky had cracked my record!

Here are a couple of chances to get an uncracked copy of the LP or a test press! I strongly suggest you pick it up, pick it up, pick it up! : )
