Not That It Really Matters, But This One Is A Mind Eraser Test Press

This Mind Eraser LP ends in less than 12 hours and it would have been shameful of us to NOT mention it. So here you go. And in typical me fashion, I’ll barely talk about the record. Here’s the thing. I enjoy Mind Eraser. When they play live, I can dig it. When a track comes on via shuffle, I can dig it. But I never find myself seeking out this LP in iTunes. I just can’t sit through the whole thing.

It’s like this one time when I went to Candle 79 in New York City. I was enjoying a great vegan meal when this cattle rancher’s wife and vegan daughter sat next to us. If you haven’t been to this spot, do it. But for those who have not, know that it’s pretty tight quarters. We basically sat at the same table as these two. The daughter was nice and very open minded. She LOVED her meal. The mom pretty much hated everything. Her best quotes of the night? “Some people have a palate for vegetables. I do not.” and “I like my vegetables to taste like butter and brown sugar.” Yeah … not a fan of hers. Listening to her almost ruined a perfectly awesome meal.

Hmm, maybe it’s nothing like that meal. I don’t hate Mind Eraser. I like them. And I don’t wish they sounded more like Blink-182. Hmm, either way, you should grab this test press from tom_bro99. No butter or brown sugar required. Can anyone explain the note? So weird.

Damn Sticky 9 Key!

It must be time for betts7 to get a new computer (Morgado wouldn’t mind a new one either …). I say this because it seems his number 9 key is sticky. Check the Buy It Now prices on these items and tell me if you see something wrong.

Tragedy / Totalitar split. Dude has a BIN for $99.95. Or, you could get it here here or here for less than $10 BIN. Some are less than $7.

Or maybe this Mind Eraser LP. Slightly more rare, but $99 BIN? Dunno about that. White vinyl, but still.

The Minor Threat demo EP. Great demo, great ep. Worth $99? No. Look here here or here to snag for less than $10. Or if you want maroon vinyl, you may have to slop down $35, which still seems outrageous.

And finally, Live At Buff Hall. What Would Ian Say … About This BIN? It’d probably drive him to drink. Especially when you can find other sellers here here or here with BINs hovering near $8.

If you are going to sell items on ebay, check for those sticky keys. Seriously. For shame.

** Thanks to Colin for pointing out these sweet BIN prices. He just earned himself two trillion internet bucks.

Complete Obliteration

Some shameless self promotion here courtesy of my pal adversewind‘s auctions…

I play bass in this band along with 3 of the Mind Erasers on guit/guit/drums and one Knife Fighter on vocals. If you’re into Discharge/Crucifix/etc with a sprinkle of Motorhead and a little mosh part here and there, you might dig it. Since our singer lives in CA we don’t get to play much — only 6 shows in the past year, when the planets align and we’re all in the same place at the same time. That being said, we have a couple shows coming up this weekend, Saturday in Boston with a reunited The Trouble and Sunday in NYC with Brainkiller. Come down and hang!

A quick rundown of releases:

This Is Tomorrow 7″ – 2nd release, the copy here was a rush run of blank label records, made for Chaos In Tejas last year. 100 with stamped labels and handmade pocket sleeve. Opening for CockSparrer was cool.

Megatons 7″ – first release, this one here’s a first press #/500 w/ poster sleeve.

Both 7″s on one tape, about 20 made and sold in Canada last November. Westbrook forgot his passport like a dummy so we only played one of two scheduled shows :( .

B.I.N. – Glacial Reign

I won’t say too much about this record other than…

1. Whenever a punk or hardcore band (in this case, Mind Eraser) release more than 2 great full lengths, that should be noted.

2. The record looks perfect. The cover has the elements of that classic punk aesthetic (nods to rudimentary peni art) while maintaining a freshness to it. If you’ve never really looked at this record, please do. The people who put it together on a design level always crank out some of my favorite stuff, so when you throw in a banging original illustration on the cover… no complaints.

3. Though this is a repress on Clear Vinyl, feel like you are getting a steal because I could easily see this record being resold in a year for double that, easy.

In all seriousness, this can also still be picked up over at the PAINKILLER webstore, but I have a feeling there aren’t that many left. A band who has yet to put out a bad record, and this may be their best. Check out some of the other auctions from PKR and save on shipping. Still on top.

Mind Eraser Cave LP

Mind Eraser is a quality band from Boston. If you don’t know, you are missing out.

Initially, I wasn’t sure about this band. I mean, hell, you know me. I love that generic hardcore.

This is definitely not generic hardcore.

But it’s fucking good as hell. They’ve definitely won me over. Cracked me out of the generic hardcore shell I try to form.

This one is limited to 125. Dropped on Painkiller Records. Good style.
