Downside MN (pre-Threadbare melodic HC)

Downside was a band from MN (Mpls/St. Paul) in the early 1990′s and featured people that would go on to be in more well-known Threadbare (not a big fan) and Bloodline (also would go on to be on Nemesis). The sound here is different then those later bands, it’s pretty melodic hc with a Dag Nasty and Verbal Assault vibe, Flex! calls it “emo core”, I think fans of Remission and such would appreciate, and I think this record could use some appreciation. Not sure on the vinyl pressing numbers but clear and purple (I have the clear but never seen purple) were the limited colors. If this wasn’t on Nemesis it would probably be even more obscure. I image the pressing run was decent though being on that label.

Canadian mryentafo has this at a twoonie (did I spell that right? sorry Canadians) so far with no bids. This guy’s auctions have been featured this week and this might be a good 7″ to double up. Or I can probably find you one in a used bin around town, although I haven’t seen a clear one in a while.

This band is also not to be confused with the European band from the 2000′s on Crucial Response called Downslide (with an L) that has somewhat of a similar looking cover and logo.

I’m going to be a good little Minnesotan and post something home-grown. I had to miss their reunion show but I heard it was off the chain. Here’s Harvest’s full length on Trustkill limited to 50! Yeap. To tell you the truth I don’t even know if I really like this album, my favorite Harvest stuff is probably the EP’s. But it’s mad limited so check it out.

Ugh, I guess I should have posted something more patriotic on this 10th anniversary of 9/11, sorry. But I did play Agnostic Front today while working at the record store in commemoration.
