I think seller rowbeartoe1734 should pick his item description tags a little differently. It’s not the weirdest or totally out of place band names added to the end of the ebay auction “MINOR THREAT Filler 7″ OG Dischord Records! 4th Press!!” but why not add some classic Dischord bands, bands from DC or even bands from the 80′s to the end of this item. I could be wrong, but I think the average Title Fight and Have Heart fan that are looking at records on ebay aren’t going to be picking up a blue cover of the Minor Threat 7″. But hey, if you searched for either Title Fight and Have Heart on ebay and happen to pick this up I’ll be gladly to admit that I was wrong.

FUN FUN FUN Thats What I Say
Not much time left on this one. The FUN FUN FUN 12″ ep is probably the best Big Boys record so its a good jumping off point if youre looking to start a Big Boys collection. This shit used to get BLASTED in my old house. It’s one of my favorite records, and they were Minor Threat’s favorite band so you might as well pick this up from infestinfest.
Minor Threat – Out of Step 1st Press
Seller straightray has up for grabs a 1st Press Minor Threat Out of Step LP. What makes this a first pressing is the lack of a colored stripe on the cover and the completely blacked out back cover. I think the layout of the back cover of the later pressings with the mugshot promos of each band members is so cool and has been copied thousands of times. This LP is one of the best early USHC releases and has some of my personal favorite Minor Threat songs. 5 days left on this auction and it seems that this auction started at 50 bucks, which isn’t too bad nowadays. Check out straightray‘s other stuff (I’ll probably be posting some of the other auctions soon).
Minor Threat Monday
Do you own the Minor Threat 7″ already? You probably should have at least one copy if you call yourself a record collector. straightray can hook you up with second coolest pressing of this straight edge classic. He describes some oily stains on the cover of the record which i feel like I’ve seen on a few copies before. Maybe the band was eating some Pizza Mart when putting together the records.
If you want to play it a littler safer with your wallet you can go after this blue cover copy that notorious German lostandfound_de has.
WAAAAAY Out Of Step
If you’re looking to start a collection of Out Of Step lps then 33eyez is your go to guy. You get your choice of the first three pressings from America and the German and UK pressings. All in really awesome looking shape. Unfortunately the 2nd pressing copy doesnt come with the super rare pre-order certificate which I’ve only seen one time. Got one? Let me know please.
Skewbald / Grand Union
So I vaguely remember hearing about this thing, but I didn’t know it was recorded in 1981 and since it didn’t actually come out until the early 90′s, I thought it was supposed to be like Fugazi or something and I forgot about it. Anyway, thanks to the internets I finally heard this and I feel pretty silly for missing out on it for the last 15+ years I’ve been into Minor Threat. What am I talking about? I am talking about the Skewbald Grand Union recordings, which was something Ian Mckaye did with Jeff Nelson and some other DC dudes in 1981, between the first 2 Minor Threat 7″s and “Out of Step”, and it sounded exactly like Minor Threat. This EP is easily found with a google search, so I suggest you guys check it out, especially if you’re dumb like me and have been sleeping on this for most of your life! So here you go, 3 “Minor Threat” songs that you might not have heard!
From dischord.com:
Lyle Preslar’s decision to go to Northwestern University in September of 1981 broke up Minor Threat, so the other three members immediately started looking for other bands to form or join. Ian and Jeff started playing music with their Dischord housemate Eddie and another local punk, John Falls, who had done a short stint as guitarist with Youth Brigade. The band was one of many projects that practiced in the basement of Dischord House, and took its name from a nearby grocery store, Grand Union. Ian came across the word “skewbald” in a dictionary and thought it was a better band name, but Jeff stuck by Grand Union. Unable to reach a decision in the matter, the band ended up having two names. Skewbald would never play a show, and the only people who ever saw the band play may well have been Eric and Toni of Red C, who sat in at a practice one day. The band did end up recording three untitled songs at Inner Ear at the same session that yielded “Rozzyln Rangers”, the theme song of Dischord House. After recording, the practices came to a halt, and John left the picture. Eventually Ian moved from vocals to bass, and Skewbald practiced as a three piece a few more times in early 1982, but the project was stopped cold by Minor Threat’s decision to reform in April. The three songs Skewbald recorded ended up being traded around the country on tapes, and in some circles were mistakenly considered unreleased Minor Threat songs. Five years later, Dischord released the session to mark its 50th release.
Here yatrecords has it with a BIN of $15 on clear vinyl.
Guy didn’t include a pic of the front cover I guess….
That band Rollins was in before Black Flag
This one from trout2323 has about a day and a half left and is still at a respectable 1997 price. Not a bad deal for Dischord #2.
Its a bummer they never did an LP because I think this record is better than anything he did in his next band. For the record i also think Black Flags output pre-Rollins is better than the SOA 7″.
Walk Together, BIN Together
Heres two cheap BINs for the best of 7 Seconds. Both of them has slightly different color variations on the cover than the more common versions but i prefer how these look.
somehowforever has up a pretty nicely priced 1st pressing of The Crew with red letters on the cover. You could bid on it too but honestly the BIN is $4, just do it.
reasonwhy76 is giving us the purple cover edition of Walk Together, Rock Together for an even cheaper BIN than the previous listing. Theres NO reason this shouldnt be bought.
Minor Threat Out of Step test press V2.0
This just got relisted because the first time around estuary_sounds forgot the “I” in Minor Threat. It took him 5 days to notice and I was the high and only bidder. But now thats its relisted and noticeable I feel like i can post it since bidding will go through the roof.
This is a test pressing of the second press of the record and unlike the first pressing they didnt send these to radio stations for promo. Im not sure what the did with them really besides make awesome covers. I used to own two of these are one time but i sold one. The other was the first thing i ever bought on ebay around 1996-7 (outbid Jamie Doubledecker for $300). I dont think this will go as high as the one Jeff Nelson sold but it will def make some serious bank.
My Contribution to Wilson Wednesday
Probably not the Wilson you were expecting, but Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is one of my favorites. Not very hardcore, but Smile makes me do just that. This is a rare promo EP. A little wacky, but a cool piece.
Something a little more core, you say? What about when Minor Threat played the Wilson Center?
The Misfits played the Wilson Center too. Nearly 19 years ago to the day. Fuck.
But to bring it back to a hardcore Wilson, there is always Matt Wilson of Set Your Goals. Solid dude, and straight edge. Big fan. This one glows in the dark. Watch out!
Flex Your test press
I could blah-blah-blah about this comp, or I could copy and past the excellent post that Kyle (deekymutombo) has already done. That saves me a lot of time to write about other records, since this is a CRAZY week on ebay.
Wanna know something cool that I’ve always noticed? Dischord and Revelation both released 6 killer 7″ singles before ever releasing anything on LP format – and in both cases, #7 was an LP compilation seeking to showcase all the cool bands from their hometown scene. I don’t think Revelation was just copying Dischord when they released “NYHC: The Way It Is” either. I think it just shows a cool natural progression of how a local scene rises up, a record label starts supporting what everyone is doing, and there’s almost a formula to the way it tends towork out. Anyway, Dischord’s first 12″ release was the Flex Your Head compilation that featured all the bands from the first few singles, in addition to all sorts of other local D.C. area bands like Red C, Iron Cross, etc. This compilation fucking rules, plain and simple. The first copy in the photo is obviously a test pressing. It comes with a photo-copied flier pasted on the dust sleeve that was also used on the back cover of the regular pressings. – via Seeking The Simple
Lullabies. Take 3
Lets say you didnt get the one on ebay back in July. And you dont want to bid as high as the copy Murphy posted a few days ago. Heres chance #3 then. But you have to act quick, theres only 13 hours left in the auction (which is why im posting this late). It doesnt have a handwritten cover (incidentally the other two copies i mentioned both have the same handwriting on the cover as the copy i own), and it most definitely doesnt have a blatantly racist hand drawn cover like my test of Wreck Collection. Maybe thats why its so cheap with hours to go. Seller thudbass must be doing something wrong here.
Hi Henry. Hi Lyle. Never Forget.
I’m not trying to talk shit, but how come when I was pushing howsyouredge.com hard, no one ever sent me anything as monumental as these Minor Threat EPs? I mean, I got some good stuff, but do any of them compare to these EPs? I suppose I’ll find out in 20 years, right? Chances are, not going to happen. Sigh. But calyma629 lucked out. He was given these to review back when he was putting out his own zine, Media Massacre. Sadly, my knowledge of that zine is shit. And searching google, I come up with nothing. Some other hip-hop crew took over the moniker. If anyone has some info, hit us up. As for the EPs, good luck.
Oh, he’s got this first press too… Damn.
More Dischord BIN’s
Apparently shermy67 must have realized the extortionate BIN price on this lot was too much, so he broke them down into separate listings. Unfortunately the first press Filler already sold, but you can still buy the Teen Idles and SOA 7″s for relatively high prices ;) .
And Mr. Surf80 has a more moderately (but still kinda high) priced 4th press Filler up, along with some overpriced Misfits singles. Pick your poison.
