lphound has a bunch of cool stuff up including this Taang! Negative FX LP. One of my favorite hardcore records… its fast and angry just how I like my Boston hardcore!

You know what this record is so I’m not gonna go on and on about it. Maybe you have a colored vinyl copy from the later press or maybe you just have the Reflex Records repress. Well now you can own an original black vinyl copy! Low opening bid and it ends soon so hop on it!

NFX BOSTON HARDCORE!

trashamericanstyle still pushing out some awesome records. I’m sure by now you all know I have a soft spot for Boston hardcore and that Negative FX is one of my favorites. I finally have all the color vinyl versions of this LP, but the blue one was the 2nd hardest for me to find (Amber took the longest) but I finally got a mint copy that Choke had in his basement.

I was talking to Dave the original drummer of NFX last week and he voiced his displeasure with the front & back cover art of this LP. Since the LP came out after the band had already broken up it was basicly put together by Choke & Curtis. Dave said… “I would have NEVER
agreed to have such hippie/drug scum such as Charles Manson
and his hippie drug addicts on the front and back cover of this
LP”

This is the ‘Buse Blue’ vinyl version of the LP from the color series, which also included ‘Helter Skelter Red’, ‘Squeeky Clear’ & ‘Atkins Amber’, limited to about 500 each. Reflex Records also a color vinyl repress a few years ago that came on pink and yellow vinyl limited to 100 each.

Negative FX – Fundamental

Currently fishingpompey is selling only one record, but if your a collector of Boston hardcore then it very well may be a record you need or perhaps have never seen.

Back in the early 90′s Taang! licensed out some releases to different lables for pressing outside the US. Roadrunner/Emergo did releases from Slapshot, Bosstones, Maelstrom, DYS & Poison Idea. A label in Poland did a cassette only realese (theres a joke in there somewhere) of ‘Step on It’ by Slapshot. And Fundamental Records in the UK did the Keith Levene 12″, the Kilslug LP and the Negative FX LP. They are all tough to find, but I think this is probably the most desirable. They pressed between 1000-2000 but they dont pop up very often and it took me awhile to find one (If you have a test press of it sell it to me now!).

If you’re a NFX collector or Jack Kelly superfan, dont sleep on this record!

Charlie Don’t Surf!

I’m a huge fan of this record (because its awesome!) and I love the color vinyls from the 2nd press. There was ‘Buse Blue’, ‘Atkins Amber’, ‘Squeeky Clear’ & this one, the ‘Helter Skelter Red’. Each color was limited to about 500 pieces.

If you only have the more recent reissue on Reflex Records (on black, pink or yellow vinyl) then this is your chance to pick up one of the originals!!

Violent Minds – Manson 7″

I dont know to much about this record, but its kind of a Negative FX tribute sleeve and I think thats pretty cool.

Violent MInds – self titled 7″ on Deranged Records. This was a preorder only sleeve limited to 100 copies.

I think this was a 2007 repress of the 7″ and that it was originally released on My War Records around 2004.

Sorry I dont know much about this record… yeah…

Charlie Don’t Surf!

but he obviously brings the mosh!

This recording session was not meant to be the NFX LP, it was just a demo tape recorded in an 8 track studio, but the band played a total of 5 shows and then kind of fell apart before they could go back to a 16 track studio to record the LP. The songs were recorded at Radiobeat Studios in 1982 and were shelved after the band broke up. Choke formed Last Rights who only managed to play 1 show and release a 7″ (Taang! #2) and then in 1984 the Negative FX ‘Radiobeat tapes’ finally saw the light of day as Taang! #5, the first LP put out by the label.

A total of 3000 on black vinyl and about 500 each of red, blue, clear & amber.

BLACK VINYL…

CLEAR VINYL…

Government War Plans – LP vs CD

Government War Plans is a collection of Negative FX demos recording at pratices and a few house party shows in 1982. Its really raw and the recording on some tracks is not that great. Theres actually a spot in one song where someone must have recorded over the original tape because another song cuts in for a few seconds. All that being said… its worth checking out.

The LP version was released by Distortion Records which I think is/was run by Dave Brown who played drums for NFX. Then I believe it was licensed out to Moulty Records who put out the CD version.

Usually I prefer to get the LP version of something (unless I’m going to get both), but with this if you’re only getting one I recomend getting the CD. It has an extra track on it thats 6 minutes of assorted clips of Choke from his radio show on Emerson College radio. Some live comercials, song talk ups and concert anouncements including ‘the official debut of Negative FX’ and an anouncement about the break up of Negative FX.
