Unbroken’s Purple Ritual

For anyone who isn’t out on Saturday night, or getting ready to go out, here’s a reason to stay in. Possibly the best named seller on ebay, burpmachine, has a purpley grey vinyl copy of the first Unbroken LP ‘Ritual’ up for sale. There’s only three hours left on this and its on $2.24. OK, so it’s not rated as highly as ‘Life Love Regret’ with the average joe, but this is still a great record, and the color pressing is (or at least used to be) pretty hard to find. Go get yourself a bargain…

Moo Chorus

jackburton24 has the xChorusx 10″, on black and white cow-swirl, out of 255. The only color variant. This is probably my favorite record of theirs, although I like the LP a lot too. Side A of this is the “Italian” 7″. The militant edge is not a joke, you’re moshing, and then going scubadiving ’cause you’re in the OC.

Turning Point It’s Alway Darkest… RED HAND

Seller earwax666hotmail has got a Turning Point – It’s Always Darkest Before the Dawn LP for auction. This auction is currently at 50 bucks with 14 hours left. I’m sure some of the bidders on this item won’t be too happy to hear that I bought this from a punk dude’s distro on tour in Nebraska for 10 bucks this past year. One of the best pick ups I had on tour this past year. The Q and A on this auction answers the pressing info, because he doesn’t state it on the auction. The hand logo on the insert is RED. SOOO, that means that this is a 2nd press of the LP, because the 1st press had 500 clear vinyl and black copies that had the hand logo in a BLUE ink.

Mouthpiece – Can We Win Test Press

Here’s a tasty treat for you Mouthpiece fans. This is a New Age Records test press from way back. 1991. That’d be 20 years ago, so I think it counts as way back. Seller rock4light has this one, and his is number 9 out of 10. Not too shabby. I always thought New Age pumped out the test presses so it’s nice to see something limited to just 10. Throw in that great test press cover, and you’re sold.

Did you catch Mouthpiece at the Glasshouse? Here’s what you missed.

Strife – Begin To Care

I’ve been sitting on this second pic for WAY too long, just waiting for the right Strife item to appear on ebay. Thanks to in_vinyl_we_trust, my wish has come true. This pink EP is the 2010 repress. Not the full blast Sound And Fury press, but still dope. The second pic, however, so good. Rick telling you how it is, Andrew with a disapproving glare. This is a good one. I laughed when I stumbled across it on The Hundreds. No idea what the event was, but the pic is great. Not sure how caring Rick is in the pic though …

Dig Deep – New Age Records Test Presses

Time to dip into that retirement fund … richardbladeyourself is back with more New Age Records test presses. Lots of late 80s, early 90s test presses of some of the west coast’s best releases (and a Mouthpiece release, Jersey, represent). The New Age Records head honcho has done these auctions before. It’d be interesting to know just how many of these test presses actually exist. I’m guessing this is at least his 3rd round of big test press lots, where lots of tests have been duplicated. I’m pretty sure this is at least the 3rd Mouthpiece LP test press we’ve seen in the last year.

Make sure to check out his other auctions. He’s got 12 test presses going at this point. Plenty for everyone to share.

More Pink Vinyl!

I wonder if in_vinyl_we_trust is a Vinyl Noize reader because I was able to pick up a copy of this Outspoken 7″ because I saw it posted up here!

This is a limited repress by New Age Records of the Outspoken Survival 7″ from earlier this year. It was pressed on bubblegum (pink) vinyl and oddly was limited to 77 copies. Pretty rare and could be a nice score for one of you guys!

Purple Vinyl and Urban Legends…

More fittingly, SUBurban legends, but I wanted the point to get across without too much head scratching.

By the time the Hands Tied 7″ had come out, Mouthpiece had been broken up for some time and there was a very different “feeling in the air.” Whereas Mouthpiece always served as the carrier of the torch for straight forward, straight edge hardcore in a time where slowed down songs and metal riffs were now the definition of hardcore. And let’s call a spade a spade, Mouthpiece wasn’t necessarily breaking any land speed records themselves. That said, there was a distinct difference in their sound than quite a few of their contemporaries, for better or worse, and that’s what will always define them as a cool band to me.

But still… when the needle hits the plate on the Hands Tied 7″, the energy bounces off the walls in a way that Mouthpiece rarely did on record. Here’s the rare Purple vinyl, limited to 300 copies. This was not an easy record to acquire back in the late ’90s, but over times has seen peeks and valleys as far as interest goes. Despite the recent shows and new ep, this one is only at $11.50 with about a day to go – an interested party might be able to grab this for a decent price.

On the other side, here is a distinctly NOT limited record, the Mouthpiece “What Was Said” 12″. Now out of print, this record did not come on color vinyl, despite it appearing on record want lists since the time of it’s release. The hard and fast (and perhaps readers can go into further depth) facts of this record pressing is black vinyl, a lot pressed. Is that 2000? Probably. 3000? Not sure. I’m not sure if anyone, including New Age Records owner Mike Hartsfield, knows for sure. That said, given the relatively recent discography on Revelation, I wouldn’t expect a repress and think for $10 you could do a lot worse than adding this record to your collection.

SURVIVAL!

Seller unholybloodlust has up a great and interesting EP from Outspoken. This is the Survival EP put out by New Age Records. Back in the day, it never came on color vinyl (same can be said for the LP. It also only came on black vinyl). A few weeks back, New Age repressed both on color vinyl. But back in the day, it only came on black vinyl. I’m sure this was a let down to the vinyl fiends. You know we love a great limited edition record, right?

So New Age dropped this record. Limited cover, limited EP label, numbered out of 50, the works. Thing is, it probably wasn’t limited to 50. We know this because EACH ep is numbered #1. Every EP I’ve seen (and apparently the seller too) is numbered #1. So that’s New Age pranking the vinyl fiends. Good gag. Has anyone seen one that is NOT numbered #1? Or have more info? I’d like to know more of the back story on this one, really.

Strife Sound And Fury 2010 EP

Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for one of these to pop up on ebay. I wonder how andrewbaker123 held out so long. It’s been almost two weeks since this dropped.

Regardless, this EP came out pretty dope. The boys of Strife really should get a pat on the back for this one. Lots of love went into it. You can read Andrew Kline’s full description over on Tradition Shop Blog. He gives the full description on the Eyeone redesign. Kudos to those boys …

If you don’t fee like spending the loot on this record on ebay, keep your eyes peeled on this blog going forward. You may see an interesting contest or two coming your way …

A Light In The Dark

Call me crazy, but I love this album. I picked it up in the mid 90s, after Outspoken had broken up, and before I started attending “real” hardcore shows (I’m sorry, but I have hard time justifying Tree and Sam Black Church as hardcore). I found my copy used at Bull Moose in Brunswick. I had never heard the band, didn’t know anything about them. All I knew is that they were released on New Age Records. At the time, that was all the convincing I need (pre-Internet, wikipedia, myspace music, … all that jazz. I supposed I could have ventured onto alt.music.hardcore for some insight though). I was hooked. I immediately got a Strife vibe but with more politics involved. I could hang with that. And unlike most of the records from that era, this one still stands up, I can still play this and enjoy the hell out of it. As far as I know, this NEVER came on color vinyl. Someone back me up.
