shane-sells seashells by the jersey shore

Seller shane-sells brings us a record that is not quite part of the status-quo of the NY/NJ HC bands that everyone is aware of. Over the past few years since I started noticing it appearing a bit more often. It constantly fetches for more than 200. With that being said, I think this band can be classified in the same ranks as the founding fathers in that area: Abused, AF, Antidote, etc… As well, Dave Jones played/recorded with the band most notably during their VIP era. Enuf context…

The record is looking to be in pretty good condition. File this classic in the category of “Records rarely found not partied on”. The charm here is the sheer lunacy penned in the lyrical content mixed with the creepy crawl of NYHC.

There used to be an amazing website for the band on geocities or angelfire a few years ago. I don’t think it exists anymore. I was able to find one of the videos that was there. This is essential viewing for all you Sock Women out there:

Q: What do floorpunching and mullets have in common?

A: Normally I would be inclined to say the answer is nothing. Years ago when I would download HC clips or stream minute long videos in quicktime off the internet; I found the xmulletx website. I came across the FP NOT FOR ME footage where the sound was a bit off and there appears to be a great big sea of people flowing across the room and the stage singing along to one of the best anthems of our time.

Because I’m such a curious guy, I have wondered about how reissues/greatest hits collections/discographies effect the market value of original releases. Since the Floorpunch disco on Six Feet Under have you noticed that prices seem to be up or down on the FP DEMO and DIV 1 Champs record on IN MY BLOOD. I’m sure it can be argued both ways, but I would be interested in seeing some charts.

What’s important is that right now you have the opportunity to win grab this on CLEAR.

xscottbeuryx has this limited to 300 version of the Division One Champs (this could make for a great vanity plate – DIV1CHAMPS). I have always really dug the live shot on the cover of this record. How many great releases have this?. I think this is pretty unique to hardcore/punk…to have a studio recorded album feature a live shot of the band playing and the crowd in attendance.

Lastly, I would like to thank Ben Pepin for managing a VHS collection of live sets of which I happened to acquire the footage from the very show that this album cover photo was taken. Having not seen this during my formative years who knows what could’ve become of me.

Comic Noize crossover? RELEASE No Longer w/Wolverine cover

My old friend str8t8 just listed some things and this one jumped out at me. Pun intended?
Besides it being an awesome band, its got an X-Men related cover which I highly approve of. I myself made a Wolverine cover for a record I put out but I didnt go the extra mile and include the Wolverine trading card from the Marvel trading card set. I do have a million of those cards somewhere though.
Anyway this isn’t Pain Inside but its a sick record. Can we get a Release discography coming soon? Sure

Dirty Jersey

Hey remember Snakebite and how they went on TLC’s ‘Makeover Story’ and it was a huge gag for a while? No?

Well here mikewindmill has their EP for $3, complete with a Mike Buke style cover with snakes biting George W, how early to mid 2000′s! Ah the good old days…

Buy this guy’s Aftermath 7″ too.

Get this Hello Bastards starter kit while waiting for Hurricane Irene

I bought so many candles that I feel like I gotta hope that I lose power this weekend. As I am writing this, the storm has just been downgraded to a category 1. That is so weak. You know what’s not weak? A quadruple hitter of the classic Lifetime LP Hello Bastards, and mattattack1984 has the goods for you! But don’t wait for Irene to pass us by on the East Coast, cause by that time these auctions will be gone!

Mouthpiece for Monday morning.

Here’s a NJ classic from a NJ classic. So cut_down has brought another hit for us. The first pressing of the Mouthpiece 7″ on purple vinyl. Though there are 500 of these out there, I remember this being something that wasn’t too easy to come by back in the day. There’s not too much time left on this, so don’t get distracted, just ask yourself, “Can we win… this auction?” Haha. I jest. Still…get in, bid hard, and if you win, you can probably stick it in a frame, it’s got a nice cover.

Still got the blues

I guess I’ve exhausted oswald-of-york‘s listings for the day (I’m staying away from that $199 Fear bootleg), so I’ll leave you with this little duo of blue cover variants while I go listen to Shades Of A Blue Orphanage.

Sentimental Abuse

Here are, in my opinion, the two best hardcore LPs ever out of New Jersey courtesy of locanda2.

Mental Abuse is impossible to find in really clean shape and this copy is no exception… but still worth it at any price (and this copy is pretty cheap as of this moment). It would be cool if this LP got reissued at some point, but I don’t think it’s likely.

Fruitpunch

statement-of-pride must have racked up a ton of xmas bills and is trying to raise up a ton of money to get the credit card companies off his back with all the stuff hes selling. This Floorpunch record is a little off though. 200 pressed on red wax but this one has a 3rd press cover with green writing instead of the correct 1st/2nd press cover with blue writing. Also the number on the sticker also looks like it bled out. Maybe the original cover got wet and messed up the number? Id say ask for clearer pics and ask questions before bidding. Maybe you can cop a deal though?

Division 1 Champs tour press BIN

I think rekone05john is aiming at the higher end of the spectrum with his BIN on this FP single. Still kinda worth it though as floorpunch continues to get better with age and your chances of copping one on gold are slim to none.

Stock Collection

New feature from me. I will be posting up periodically just those stock records you want or need or should have in your collection. Maybe they arnt worth a lot. Maybe they arnt the best record. Maybe youll never even listen to the record. But they are the kinda records that you wanna see when you are flipping through your box. Sometimes I will post shit just cause im curious to see what it ends for or the going rate is. If you dont like these kinda posts, too bad for you cause im gonna post them till i get bored of doing it :)

life_as_one brings us the Crucial Youth 12″. There was a time in the 90s when this was pretty hard to come by now – not so much. This record is worth it for the comic book alone. 2 days left with no bids and a low starting bid.

Division One Champs

It’s been months (years??) since we’ve seen a gold vinyl Division One Champs up on ebay. And you know what, it could be many more months. Still nothing in sight. HOWEVER rekone05john has a few other Div1 Champ gems to tide you over. Up first is the excellent 98/99 tour press. New Jersey Crew. Rep it. This one was limited to 300.

And if you prefer color vinyl, you can’t go wrong with the blue vinyl. 2nd press out of 800. Not too shabby. Such a crucial record!

Purple Vinyl and Urban Legends…

More fittingly, SUBurban legends, but I wanted the point to get across without too much head scratching.

By the time the Hands Tied 7″ had come out, Mouthpiece had been broken up for some time and there was a very different “feeling in the air.” Whereas Mouthpiece always served as the carrier of the torch for straight forward, straight edge hardcore in a time where slowed down songs and metal riffs were now the definition of hardcore. And let’s call a spade a spade, Mouthpiece wasn’t necessarily breaking any land speed records themselves. That said, there was a distinct difference in their sound than quite a few of their contemporaries, for better or worse, and that’s what will always define them as a cool band to me.

But still… when the needle hits the plate on the Hands Tied 7″, the energy bounces off the walls in a way that Mouthpiece rarely did on record. Here’s the rare Purple vinyl, limited to 300 copies. This was not an easy record to acquire back in the late ’90s, but over times has seen peeks and valleys as far as interest goes. Despite the recent shows and new ep, this one is only at $11.50 with about a day to go – an interested party might be able to grab this for a decent price.

On the other side, here is a distinctly NOT limited record, the Mouthpiece “What Was Said” 12″. Now out of print, this record did not come on color vinyl, despite it appearing on record want lists since the time of it’s release. The hard and fast (and perhaps readers can go into further depth) facts of this record pressing is black vinyl, a lot pressed. Is that 2000? Probably. 3000? Not sure. I’m not sure if anyone, including New Age Records owner Mike Hartsfield, knows for sure. That said, given the relatively recent discography on Revelation, I wouldn’t expect a repress and think for $10 you could do a lot worse than adding this record to your collection.

CHRONIC SICK – Cutest Band In Hardcore

My buddy Señor Suarez is unloading quite a doozy here, hopefully to buy little Baby Mordicus a new crib.

As with most releases on Mutha, no one really cared about this shit until it was deemed “cool” earlier this decade by the collector illuminati, and even “cooler” in recent years by snotty young HC kids with flipped up hats and irreverent attitudes. Either way, this record is pretty awesome — the musicianship is several cuts above your typical hardcore record of the time, almost like if Johnny Thunders joined a hardcore band.

Supposedly there were only 300 of these made, but they’ve been turning up quite frequently in recent years and rumors abound that Mark The Mutha is still sitting on copies.

If you were smart…

LOLz at the list of all phoenix2443‘s auctions and this being one of the few records on black wax. Not a cut on the seller at all but jeez do records even come on black anymore?!? All in all a great 7″ on any color. When I was in highschool I remember getting the lost and found cd and being sooooo bummed on songs like “broken” and “thursday”. All I could think of is what pussy’s they became. Little did I know that when I got older I would prefer those songs. Ah the ignorance of youth.
Note to labels – when you release 1000 records and 300 are on one color, 300 on another color, and 400 on black. Youve made your records uncollectable.
