BLUE SABBATH BLACK CHEER

noiseville.com is selling a pretty obscure record that I bought a year or two ago at Armageddon Shop in Providence, RI. I picked it up and bought it based 100% on the name of the band because a band called BLUE SABBATH BLACK CHEER was just too good to turn down. I will admit that I was surprised when insted of the doomy stoner rock I expected I heard ambient noise, but its still cool background ‘music’ if you’re into that stuff.

This is actually a split between Blue Sabbath Black Cheer and another noise group called Dried Up Corpse. This is a black vinyl 10″ in a screen printed sleeve and limited to 300 copies from Gnarled Forest Records.

thunder and LIGHTNING BOLT!

theropey has some awesome records for sale including these two from the home town heroes (if you live in Providence), Lightning Bolt!

If you’re not aware Lightning Bolt is a 2 piece band (drums and bass). They formed in 1994, put out a bunch of albums, created some amazing ‘noise’ and influened a bunch of other people. The 2 members (Brian Chippendale & Brian Gibson) have also both played for a bunch of others bands including Landed & Megasus.

1: From 2003 on Load Records this is ‘Wonderful Rainbow’ on clear vinyl limited to only 300 copies. This album managed to be ‘catchy’ is spots while still having that signature Lightning Bolt sound.

2: Also from Load Records, 2001′s Ride the Skies on green marble vinyl limited to only 300 copies! This is the 2nd album from the dynamic duo, but its considered to be their ‘break through’ album.

The Saw Is Family!

I’m a huge fan of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and the character of Leatherface. I’m actually a sucker for most ‘wacked out family lives in the woods and kills people’ kind of movie, but Texas Chainsaw is my favorite.

I have a pretty big Leatherface tattoo, a ‘The Saw Is Family’ tattoo, some movie props, action figures and I also got this same CD that orphaned_cds is selling.

I guess if you like weird industrial or noize bands you might appreciate this more than I did, but its not all bad. I expected it to be more like the Jackyl song with the chainsaw solo in it, but its basically all tool based ‘music’. Its an interesting CD and the BIN is low enough that its worth checking out, especially if your a chainsaw fan!

R. I. X-termination

The White Mice are truely a sight to be seen! Musically its like Godflesh meets Brainbombs meets Buzzoven all funneled through a series of distortion pedals and fuzz boxes. Visually its like The Stooges meets Gwar meets The Secret of Nimh!

The ‘band’ is normally a three piece featuring Mouseferatu aka Mouseeattoungue on bass & vocals, Euronymouse aka Spurt Scrobrain on drums and Anonymouse aka Phallusturd Scrowleak making noises and playing samples on some equipment that I can’t identify. They also ocasionally add Verminator X on one of his custom handmade stringed instruments for live shows.

I’ve seen them a bunch of times and it a loud blasting blur or guys in lab coats and mice hand made mice masks. Blood, fire, lights, sawblades and custom made instruments that probably don’t have names.

Ganjahovadose is the most recent and the most ‘musical’ of the White Mice records so its a good place to start. If you like what you hear start working your way deep into their back catalog of LPs, CDs and hand painted cassettes!

Not an April Fools Joke

Doesn’t this auction make you think of buying speakers out of the back of a van?

Or a VCR in a back alley?

It just seems weird to me.

Someone find out if EVR or Bane is missing a box of cds …

Ps. I LOVE this cd. The last song features Aaron’s friend from Worcester doing his noise thing. I once saw him live “in concert” at the Space in Worcester. During their set, the Tuba player was almost set on fire by the sheet metal grinder. Good times.
