Str8 Up BIN’s.

Ok, so maybe we didn’t meet our goal of matching the number of VN posts today to the number of Metal Monday posts over on TTD. So consider these BIN’s from good ol’ str8t8 as a make good of sorts…

Might be a little high on the NY Wolfpack and Uppercut lp’s, as those are a bit more cult favorite, but you can always go for the straight up bid option.

Albany Style

This is really the center piece item on the table of Upstate NY hardcore. If you have the NY Wolfpack LP, you’ve basically completed the circle.

And before anyone starts yelping about Syracuse anything, guess what? WESTERN NY. Get outta my face with that, and no one is even going to argue that there’s no arguing the Western NY influence over the years has had a considerably bigger influence. To me, Upstate NY starts somewhere around Newburgh (just south of Poughkeepsie) and extends up to the southern tip of Lake Champlain to the north (anything further north is the North Country) and west out to say… maybe Utica. Maybe. Anyways…

An absolutely tattoo worthy (DARE YOU) cover piece, musically this one isn’t all that classic. But the vibe is perfect. Unity. A lot of the prominent hardcore bands of the late 80′s cruised through Albany and if you haven’t seen the Underdog video from Albany where Steve Reddy absolutely destroys people, your life is just a little emptier than mine. Love that Cranial Abuse is given their due credit as pre-dating Stigmata, for better or worse. This record even inspired an ill fated but well intentioned follow up with extremely similar cover art – but accept no imitations. Get the original, get the (sorta) best… ALBANY STYLE.
