MTL/NY Terminator Connection

Seller aegyovien brings us a record by a band that I’m not sure if we have really seen them mentioned on here before, the Omegas. This record up for sale only recently sold out at Painkiller Records. It’s funny how ebay is swamped with merch by some bands yet there are others we rarely see. What does this say about the ebay market?

I really like the effect of the dripping/wet paint Omegas logo thats featured on the cover. The whole package/layout looks fantastic. If you need to grab this still I would suggest not hesitating any longer. You can grab it directly from PKR – http://www.painkillerrecords.com/catalog

Both Demos

How many bands ever released TWO demos? Two demos is a pretty good way to go. Think about it for a minute. How often does a band release a demo and then start putting out LPs? It happens. And usually, those LPS would have made better EPs. And if your LP would make a better EP, might as well stick with a solid tape. Stop And Think did two LPs and busted out. They definitely went out on a high note. It’s a solid heritage of two demos they followed. Think Raw Deal. Think Breakdown. Solid. What other bands released multiple demos?

Please note: gblairkemp is relisting this due to issues with the previous winner. Booo. I hate non-paying bidders.

Step Forward 10-21-06

I was never a crosswords puzzle guy. Too many rules. First you have to answer clues. Then you have to slam words into these spaces and hope everything lines up. One wrong guess, and you can fuck yourself. Not the game for me. Too many strict rules. I need something a little more free form. Been fucking with scrabble/ words with friends lately. That’s more my game. I’ve got a Starbucks beverage riding on a game. Cut throat stakes.

There’s a record from Step Forward in this post too. You know, Loud And Clear USA. #3 across. These dropped on Edge Day (Observed) in 2006. Great day, great record, great record label. Win-win-win.

The Nü Scene

Some great tapes up from sellers god_among_men_77 and fybsrecords916, all ending in about a day and a half.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, these are three of the best current bands in Boston. All three bands have new records coming out soon, and in Waste Management and Scapegoat’s cases, these tapes are previews for the records (but both also have a lot of extras). So check for the new records soon (WM and SG on Painkiller, BS on Fun With Smack [what up Danimal]) and grab these tapes in the meantime to hold you over.

Breathing fire fills the sky (on test press Tues)

The handsome gents over at Painkiller Records are clearing out some dust from the vaults, and here’s a nice one for Test Press Tuesday.

IMO, Breathing Fire is the most criminally underrated band of the past few years. This LP smokes from front to back, lying in an abysmal hole in the ground previously occupied by bands like Neanderthal and Eyehategod. And for those of you concerned with trivial pursuits, BF includes members of Xfilesx, Rival Mob, Wolf Whistle, Blown Away ;) and a ton more.

Oh Peace Kid.

Probably should have let Cooch post this one from oxconnor, since he’s one of the people who put it out after all, but I saw the recommendation in the seller’s description and just had to post it up…

If you’ve ever had the urge to punch a screaming small child while you’re trying to dine in peace…this record is for you.

So in other words, this record is for every one. Even parents have to admit that they’ve had this urge, with other people’s misbehaving children of course. I’m about to go take my lunch break now, and hopefully I won’t have this problem.

*- I say lunch break like I have an actual job and don’t just post eBay auctions and draw all day. Such a hard life I lead.

Edge Day is just around the corner

My buddy Judd is liquidating some records and tapes for a friend of ours, and here’s an appropriate listing since Edge Day ’10 is only a few weeks away…

This is one of my favorite packaging jobs on a record that we (Painkiller) have released. We had some leftover covers and decided to press up 100 or so each of Waste Management and Step Forward’s respective debut 7″s, and sell them in a 2-pack at Edge Day ’08. In typical fashion, the records showed up the day before the show and I was making/assembling these things the night before, the morning of, and during the show itself (with some help from Morgado, thx bud). There are 109 sets, with a complete copy of each record, both with stamped a-side labels and PKR logo b-side labels. The records come housed in a gatefold jacket, kinda like a file folder, with a collage of old Boston HC flyers with the XXX screened over it, and closed up with a #’d obi strip. They came out pretty sweet if I do say so myself, check out the 2nd pic (from our site) for the total package.

Stop And Think

Stop And Think is one of those bands that I will always love. They were a Straight Edge torch bearer in the early 2ks. When everyone else was growing out their hair, selling out and dropping out, Stop And Think was there. With in your face straight edge anthems, they meant business. Not only that, but they’ve stood the test of time. These demos dropped nearly 10 years ago, and the message and music is still relevant. And it still makes you want to mosh. I’m waiting for Mental to release another album so that we can all see another Stop And Think gig.

Courtesy of btwostep and copiousamounts, you have your choice of presses. You can go with the first press, Straight Ahead style lp, or the 2nd press. Split release on Lockin Out and Painkiller Records. You can’t go wrong either way.

Step Forward – Boston Straight Edge

What do you know about Step Forward (no, not that Step Forward)? I’m guessing about as much as me. You want to know why that is? It’s because this band is busy living life, not hanging on the internet all day. No complaints there, that’s really what I do all day (what’s that say about my life? Yeah, pretty much …). They don’t have a website, they don’t have myspace, they don’t have twitter or a bigcartel site. Actually, I semi take that Myspace comment back. They have a page, but check when they last logged in. Yeah, that makes sense. Luckily, you can listen to most of the demo tracks online. That’s a good thing. So if you aren’t into this cassette from doomtown412 (and you should definitely be into cassettes), go head over to Painkiller Records. You can snag mp3s and other wonderful merch direct from the source.

BREATHING FIRE 7″ test press

Here’s one of my favorite records I have ever released. At the time, I had no idea these guys were doing this band and the music was about as far from what I expected them to be doing as possible. I was totally blown away when I heard this recording, just total gutteral sludge mixed with powerviolence, played 100 times better than most bands who really TRY hard at the genre. Their LP is a complete monster and I encourage anyone who is into harsh, brutal music to give it a spin, or better yet, pick up a copy.

This 7″ was originally their demo tape, which we pressed to vinyl as a teaser for the LP they were recording. Since the LP ended up taking a lot longer than anticipated, this kind of lingered around for a minute and became it’s own little release. There were 60 tests made as pre-release copies, housed in hand made sleeves, which were all sold at one show on December 6, 2006 in Sherbrooke, Canada.

Panic Broke Up?

The Trouble reminds me more of an early 80′s Boston than a mid 90′s band but no matter what decade they are from, theyre good! They formed out of a group of friends hanging at shows and in Harvard Square, played some shows, put out some records and then just broke up. The members of Trouble went on to be in The Explosion, Choking Victim & most notably, Panic!

This is their LP on Painkiller Records. Red vinyl is limted to 325 (not 200 like the seller claims) and there were 920 on black vinyl & 100 on blue vinyl. There was a special edition of the LP printed up for some reunion shows that never happened. Limited to 200 on black vinyl with a special poster sleeve in either Red, yellow, green or blue.

Get Down 2nd EP

Get Down was this ill little band from Massachusetts and New Jersey. Fronted by Dave Murphy (deli man) with a stage lined by an all start ex-band roster. AP of In My Eyes and Ten Yard Fight, Jeff Neumann of Battery, Better Than A Thousand, In My Eyes…, Azy of Panic and Mullet of XmulletX fame (and Some Kind Of Hate). **

The first EP came off with a bang. Released by Painkiller Records, they had some dope sleeves printed up for the record release gig. Each sleeve was stamped with Pedro Vs. Roger stamps. Martinez Vs Clemens. You know how the Boston Crew rolls. Kids moshed, crowds went wild, fun times abound. Ding may have even done some stage diving.

The second EP is a little more dramatic and epic. To this day, I don’t know if I’ve ever even heard it. It took a million years to press, it switched labels like 3 times, and then the vinyl sat on a shelf for a year or two. Sleeves finally arrived. They sat for a while. Then everything got stuffed and sat a while longer. The whole time, kids were clamoring for the vinyl and music. Finally, finally, finally, someone mailed a slew out. This is one of them. And after all that wait, this guy is nonchalantly selling his on ebay.

Own a piece of history when you buy this one.

** My memory is so shitty that I had to ask 6 people about the members of this band.

Mind Eraser Cave LP

Mind Eraser is a quality band from Boston. If you don’t know, you are missing out.

Initially, I wasn’t sure about this band. I mean, hell, you know me. I love that generic hardcore.

This is definitely not generic hardcore.

But it’s fucking good as hell. They’ve definitely won me over. Cracked me out of the generic hardcore shell I try to form.

This one is limited to 125. Dropped on Painkiller Records. Good style.
