I remember when Piebald dropped If It Weren’t For Venetian Blinds …. It was a weird time. It was definitely the height of Boston Straight Edge and hardcore (at least, for that era). In My Eyes was going strong, Ten Yard Fight wasn’t broken up (yet), shows were every weekend, … it was just a great time. But Piebald was off in their own universe. I think a few of the dudes broke edge, and then they released this … different album. It was definitely a maturing album, you know? Like a post “Saves The Day is HUGE” album, at least, that’s how I always looked at it. And when they played, it felt like a lot of loyal old school fans stopped showing up. Gone were the finger pointing and stage dives, now it was time for serious head bobbing. But I can remember one show vividly (maybe the Vday show with Battery). It was right around the time this album dropped or right before it dropped. The attendance was a mixed bag, and when Piebald played new songs, people seemed to ignore them (this would all change over the year, and Piebald would grow HUGE as well). But one dude, there was one dude who was just rocking the fuck out. Of course, that was Yu. I remember him singing along to Grace Kelly With Wings, and he was just feeling it. Over the next few months, the album really grew on me.
Grab the white vinyl from discdog.
And for you older heads, grab this 10″. No word on whether it comes with the patch …
